I'm trying to remember how I got into Ys. I...think it was with Felghana, on Steam, back when you could actually find interesting new stuff there. I think I saw it and thought "Ooh, this looks like Zelda, I'll give it a look!" Same way I found Reccatear, come to think. So that would've been 2012.

I had to do some digging to figure out when I first went crazy for it. And it seems... like it was in late 2005. o_o

Which... makes sense, I suppose. At the time I'd been expanding from the Touhou scene into a broader Japanese indie scene (all the doujin games I could get my hands on) and from there was pointed toward Ys I & II Complete, which had recently received a translation patch. Fell in love immediately, and started importing all of the PC releases and playing them as translation patches came out.

D&D is something that I've -almost- gotten into at least twice. I actually did have a chance to play it once (which I admittedly often forget about since it was a one-time thing like 15 years ago and lasted all of like two hours or so), but it was just a silly little micro campaign of sorts with goofball characters.

Roleplaying in a more general sense is something that I haven't done since... 2015, I want to say? Maybe even 2014. I was in a few forum roleplays that Scarly ran, wherein my character was a cowardly locksmith with an Incredibly Boring Backstory that kept finding herself thrown into ridiculous situations that were way above her pay grade.
