  • I am here to have an argument with you! And it may very well get heated! Prepare yourself, MVS!

    Posted by Guinea

    • Not really in the mood for heated arguments, even though I know you aren't too serious.

How far have you come in Vesperia? Finally got Lost Sphear yet?

      Posted by MVS

    • I haven't... I've decided to beat all the games I'm still playing before getting anything new. As for Vesperia, I just reached the floating city of the Kritiyans. I took a break from it for a while but now I'm back into it.

      How have you been??

      Posted by Guinea

    • Sorry for the very late reply, but I have been "busy", as in being at the hospital, have rested from it, and in again. Finally I am home from it and am relatively sound. I am currently suffering from an illness, and nothing I want to really talk about, not now at least. Just so you know.

How are you yourself? I have two games myself at home untouched: Ys VIII and Dark Souls. Aside from that I am interested in Darksiders, but I think I want to beat the games I already have as well. But now I have no energy to start anything, I think I want to take it easy a bit more.

      Posted by MVS

  • Hey! I didn’t want to start a conversation on accident in a thread, but I definitely loved your response to my very odd/silly question. You would be surprised the few times I caused a rift in discussion with my friends and even then that can be very fun.

    Posted by Aurelia

    • Hello, sorry if I don't follow, but you mean that you easily go "off topic" in discussions? I prefer forums where you can do that (at least to some extent), and I think ZU is fairly good at that, even if there are some stuff that I don't agree on.

I have by the way seen your drawings from before, and now when I have you here I can tell you that you are really good at that. Do you draw every day and have you always been good at it?

      Posted by MVS

    • Trust me, I can get very off topic when I don’t mean to. For me it’s just easier to go VM/PM to avoid it haha

Aw, that is very sweet, thank you! I don’t draw everyday, there could be some times where I could go weeks without drawing because I get very distracted at times. I can assure you I haven’t always been good at it, I found artwork when I first started drawing and I had the urge to burn them all because I was cringing so much.

      Posted by Aurelia

    • That is a bit encouraging to know that even you had to get good at it at one point haha. I guess a big part of it is to not give up after the first hundreds of failures. I think many just give up and moves on to something else, and I think this is the case with many other things too, like creating music for example.

Is drawing something you want to implement in your working life somehow? Like drawing characters, environments, etc for video games, or something of that nature?

      Posted by MVS

    • Yeah, not a lot of people can take criticism and implement it to try and get better. A lot of argument that I would see is “well that’s just my style” ... and while that is okay, I just don’t want the anatomy to be hellaciously bad (like one arm 3 inches longer than the other for example). Even the better artists still strive for criticism to be better (like me!)

I think I have gotten to the point where I draw more for hobby than lifestyle. I do sell some art from time to time but for the most part you would just see me posting scribbles or unfinished work unless I have a drive to finish something. The amount of pictures I have (let’s say 20ish) is just sitting around collecting dust because I get distracted or become lazy haha

      Posted by Aurelia

  • Hey MVS! How are ya?

    Posted by Guinea

    • Hello it is fine, how is it with you? How is it going with Breath of the Wild?

      Posted by MVS

    • Stuck in Vah Medoh... so I've been playing Odyssey. It's been a pretty good day today, I'm just taking it easy.

      Posted by Guinea

    • Lol I think I know where you are stuck. It is a place where you have to tilt the divine beast and kinda match with the wind in order for a door to open, is that right? Can be remembering some detail wrong. A bit tricky, but you can solve it by trial and error if you don't want to think haha (me during the last playthrough).

What is your opinion of Super Mario Odyssey? Have you played Super Mario 64 and Sunshine as well?

      Posted by MVS

    • Yep, that's where I'm stuck! I think... no matter what I do, the door won't open. I'll figure it out though.

I've played the heck out of 64 and Sunshine! Sunshine and Galaxy 2 have been my favorite Mario platformers for a while, but Odyssey is just... so freaking good!

      Posted by Guinea

    • It works, you just have to have patience, or try to do the puzzle when you aren't tired. You can always use a guide, better that than giving up. When I was younger I had some kind of pride in not using guides... but now I don't give a damn haha. I play games nowadays because it is fun, and that alone.

I actually preferred the original Galaxy over Galaxy 2, even if I recognize that the second game is really damn good as well. Sunshine I have liked, but later I am not the biggest fan of it. Super Mario 64 I simply have played too much, the same is the case with Ocarina of Time.

Odyssey is great, even if I have my gripes with it, but I have gripes with every game pretty much. Still great though.

      Posted by MVS

  • Yeah typically you get a ton of characters in tales ganes but each one plays differently that it adds a lot of variety

    Posted by JPineapple

    • I guess I don't mind, but I think I prefer having fewer characters but learning much more about every each of them. Which Tales-game is your favorite?

      Posted by MVS

    • Out of the few I played vesperia Hsha . The others I have played have done certain things better but I felt vesperia was the most balanced in terms of quality . Story wise I think xillia was better and darker and symphonia characters might be on par with vesperia a imo .

      Posted by JPineapple

    • I have heard a lot of good stuff about Xillia, so if that ever would get a Switch port I would probably give it a shot. That you like its story better and that it is darker makes it pretty interesting for me.

      Posted by MVS

    • Sucks to hear you had trouble with Barbarossa (or whatever he’s calked ) been a long time but I don’t recall having trouble with him . Aldo yes yuri is AWSOME

      Posted by JPineapple

    • Barbos, and yeah he is totally beatable compared to the earlier beast jerk, but my patience simply ran out. Sure I could probably have grinded a little, and/or just being more persistent (like when I was a kid), but I just didn't felt like it, so I went the easy route. No big deal really.

I really like to see a protagonist with these qualities that he has, Monolith Soft should level up their game a bit when it comes to protagonists. I can't stand Rex haha. Have you played Xenoblade Chronicles 2?

      Posted by MVS

  • Is it the wolf boss with the plants ?

    Posted by JPineapple

    • Yeah, pretty manageable on "easy", but almost impossible for me on "normal". Very big difference in difficulty. At least glad to have an easy option for cases like this. Would have really sucked otherwise.

      Posted by MVS

    • Man for some reason that’s the only weird difficulty spike in the game . That fight was I. The demo yrs ago and turned me off from the game for so long originally. Future fights won’t be the bad

      Posted by JPineapple

    • I can imagine haha, was there an easy option back then too? Good to hear nontheless. Hopefully the difficulty can stay on "normal" from now on.

      Posted by MVS

    • There was but I never used to it . It’s just that one boss that is utterly stupid . Haha .

      Posted by JPineapple

  • I can’t speak for you but like a lot of rpgs vesperia gets better as goes . There is a lot more to the combat that gets introduced the further in you and it’s aleaus fun to switch characters and try thrm

    Posted by JPineapple

    • You are probably right that it will get better later, and I hope so. But as I said in the thread, I DO think it is good, just not incredible. Not yet at least. Just now it is mainly the battle system that is my least favorite aspect of it, but if that gets better later on, then I will be happy.

And it is possible that I don't understand it completely yet either. Some stuff that makes me kinda confused. Like som arts that have a left-stick-symbol along with arrows to them. Don't get what that is about.

      Posted by MVS

    • Right that makes sense much a later and part of the whole combat gets more thing I mentioned . And for wht it’s worth if you don’t end up liking that’s totally cool! But it does get better imo.

      Posted by JPineapple

    • Good to know. So far it is not a grinding game at least, which I really appreciate. That is something that shitty (J)RPGs pulls off to make the game last longer. I hate that haha.

I will beat this nontheless, so don't worry about it. I hate to put down a game that I have bought and started. It has to be really bad for me to do that. Like super-tedious.

      Posted by MVS

    • Yeah I don’t think I ever had to grind in it to beat it. Abd once you’ve got to. Further you can pull off some crazy combos

      Posted by JPineapple

    • It's alright in my book if enemies tend to be a like 2-3 levels above you in the main quest, but not like 10 levels above you all suddenly from nowhere. Leaps like that should be punishable by law.

      Posted by MVS

  • So what jrpgs do you intend to play ?

    Posted by JPineapple

    • Hello.

The ones that I know that I will play this year are Tales of Vesperia, Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana, Final Fantasies (especially X and XII, but also VII and IX). And yeah Final Fantasy VI and Super Mario RPG on the SNES classic. I think that is enough for now, and I bet that there will be new JRPGs announced for the Switch before I am done with all this lol.

How about you? I assume that you are a fan of JRPGs too?

      Posted by MVS

    • Sounds like a good list !

I’m still toiling away at dragon quest 11 fifty hrs in STILL more to go .decided to emulate the gbc ports of dq 1-3 because I’m crazy

Later down the line I intend to jump back into shadow hearts covenant suikidon 2 and maybe xenogears

      Posted by JPineapple

    • I'm not sure if Dragon Quest XI is my thing. I can't play it now anyway since I only have a Switch, but it will come to the Switch later. Considering how many games I am interested of, and more will come (and not just JRPGs) I think I will pass. But I have heard good things about it, but I don't think it is for me. What is Dragon Quest XI's pros and cons according to you? Something particularly that bothers you in the game? Something that the game does especially good? Would be interesting to hear.

Xenogears is a game that I have not played, but I have watched the entire game (or rather all the cutscenes to be more precise) via let's plays, and it is really good. I did it because 1) I don't have access to it, 2) see very small chance of it being ported to the Switch, and 3) from the gameplay alone I don't think that I would be a very big fan of it. But just story-wise, characters and music it is a masterpiece. Too bad about the second disc though, since that is more of a "digital book" than a game. At least they didn't cut the story, so you will not miss that at least. But I really recommend Xenogears. It would be crazy if that game someday got a worthy true remake from scratch. But since I don't trust Square I would prefer if Monolith Soft did it. Unfortunately they don't have the rights for it. Nintendo should really buy these rights and remake it for the Switch, but that will most likely never come into fruition. Oh well.

      Posted by MVS

    • Hmmm I’m not sure what I’d label as a con for the game . Most of the cons people state for it aren’t an issue to me but it depends on what you want out of a jrpg. If you want a traditional jrpg tipped from the 90s dq11 is like being wrapped in a warm blanket slowly falling asleep .

      Posted by JPineapple

    • Well, we'll see how good the Switch port will be, then I will reconsider it. If I had an eternal life I would have bought a PS4 by now, since that console has a lot of games that I am interested in. It's not that it is expensive for me, it has much more to do with time. But on the other hand, I could always skip the entire next generation if I just bought a PS4 now, so I may actually do that lol. Hopefully the Switch will last longer than usual, which I believe Nintendo has said something about.

As long as Zelda and Xenoblade are Nintendo exclusives I am doomed to buy new Nintendo consoles. If it weren't for those series I probably would have owned a PS4. Do you have that console, and if so, which game(s) is/are your favorite(s)? Not necessarily Sony-exclusives.

      Posted by MVS

  • Vesperia will probably hit fifty hrs . I know it took me that long back when I first played

    Posted by JPineapple

    • Thanks for the answer, and hope you are right. I am usually pretty slow in completing games so that bodes well. I guess you meant 50 hours to get to the credits and not 100 percent it? Is the game hard or challenging?

      Posted by MVS

    • Oh man if you’re doing a 100 percent it will take way longer . And there’s a lot of missable content as well (but the game has a new game plus feature ). Challenge wise it’s oretty normal . Not difficulty but not a total cake walk I’d say .

      Posted by JPineapple

    • Good to hear.

      Posted by MVS

    • A lot of the missables, sadly, are titles. There's a lot of unique costumes but if you miss just one scene or conversation...

Still, it's my favorite Tales game and I can't wait to play it again!

      Posted by Guinea

    • What exactly are you referring to by "titles"?

Missables am I fine with though. I usually start over anyway if I really liked the game in question, so no worries.

      Posted by MVS

  • Hello, MVS, I do like TLOZ, I just feel like the post-TP games are stumbling now. I like the pre-Skyward Sword games and I do like some dark things as long as there's not a lot of emotion in them or violence. I just don't like to see Zelda cry and I felt BOTW wallowed in its theme of loss too much.

  • New avatar, cool

  • His name is MVS and he is the best. He'll kick your ass in Mortal Kombat on SNES. This rhyme is just awful, kinda like the rest. But I digress.

    Hey, how are ya??

    Posted by Guinea

    • Nice, thanks for that rhyme. How can a rhyme that is about me be awful? ;)

I didn't realized that you are Guinea until now, so hello there. It is fine with me, but I shouldn't hang here too much but I can't really help it. How is it yourself?

      Posted by MVS

    • I'm doing ok, I suppose. Writing some stuff and just browsing the board. I was talking to one of my friends on here over the phone through Facebook, and I found out a bunch of stuff about their country that blew my mind! It's been a decent day, so no complaints.

      Posted by Guinea

    • What are you writing?

And you can't just say that some stuff about a country blew your mind without saying anything more about it lol. I don't like to be teased. What country is it and what is it all about? ^^

      Posted by MVS

    • I'm writing more Drunk Link, of course! Lol, and also my entry for the Writing Contest. The subject is about "loss", which I know all about, unlike last months topic, which was "music".

The country is Australia! Apparently, if I went to a Subway over there to get a sandwich, I would be extremely pissed! In the states, if you get a tuna sub, you get four scoops. Apparently over there, they hardly give you anything!

And it's not just the food shortages, either. Since you can't buy guns and they even have strict laws on KNIVES, going out at night is really dangerous in some areas, due to a bunch of druggies and gangs. Well, that wouldn't stop me, I'd just walk tall and carry a metal baseball bat. You can't even buy a crossbow. I was like... wtf! Home invasions, anyone? I'd like a shotgun for that scenario, but nooooo! Three fools run up in your house, what are you to do?

And also, the spider's over there are massive. Like, the size of your head. And they get in your house. And bite you. And you die. Damn!

Australia sounds like a magical place! Sure, America has it's fair share of crime and dangerous creatures, but man.

      Posted by Guinea

    • It reminds me a bit of my own joke for a country (Sweden) where you will be punished by defending yourself against a perpetrator. So it is not only the fact that we are forbidden to have guns or even pepper spray, if we actually beat the shit out of the perpetrator we risk to get a harsher punishment than the criminal himself.

I think I am fairly fine with the spiders, I think it is a thing to get used to. The issue is obviously the ones that hides in your socks/shoes, that can end very badly considering that most of them (I think) is very poisonous.

I like their government though, they are stopping criminals from getting in unlike my own country which let rapists walk free and taunt the victims. We will have an election very soon however, so hopefully it will be for the better.

  • If my thread legitimately bothers you that much, I have been contacted by moderators and it's ok. It's just a fun game. You don't have to participate.

    Posted by RealmWings

    • Also, the title does have significance.

      Posted by RealmWings

    • If you're still concerned regarding it, I'd recommend you take it up with EzloSpirit or another Creative Corner moderator.

      Posted by RealmWings

    • Eh, no it was definitely not a "significant title", are you kidding with me? A single dot doesn't convey anything. Why do you think we have titles to begin with? But I see now that the title has changed, and therefore I have no complaints anymore.

      Posted by MVS

    • It had significance within the story

      Posted by RealmWings

    • Sure I can understand that, but how am I supposed to understand what the thread is about if the title is a just single dot? A title should very briefly tell what the entire thread is about, that is the entire point of having titles. Without informative titles the forum would get out of hand pretty quickly.

  • Hey MVS. Original Nier was a PS3 and Xbox 360 game. Since it's last gen, you might be able to get a console for cheap to play it. I found the game itself in the bargain bin when I was working at EB. Just letting you know. It's worth the price of the console, IMO!

    Posted by Violetlight

    • Hello. This may sound stupid, but I hate having stuff lying around. I have way too much stuff that do just that and it is annoying haha. In my case books most of all, and I have started to get a more minimalistic behaviour. BUT if I ever comes by it (like a port or whatever) I will sure get it. Nier Automata is the game that I have wanted to get ported over to the Switch the most, so it doesn't surprise me if the original is good as well.

      Thanks for the post.

      Posted by MVS

    • No problem. With the popularity of Automata (also a great game!) maybe a port for both will be coming soon. Automata is available for PC, I believe. Fingers crossed for you! I still have my Wii U, so I played BotW on that. Looks like I'll have to get a Switch eventually for the sequel though.

  • Hello MVS,

I have finally made my way on to your page!
I want to say, I think that you are one of the most interesting members of these forums. Your avatar and your name are also Ultra-Cool!

    How have you been?
    Tead.

    Posted by Tead

    • Hello, nice to have you here. And thanks for the compliment. I have had thoughts to change my avatar, but it has just stuck with me and I think it would be a bit confusing to just change it now.

      It is alright, and you?

Just a bit busy in studying at the moment, so will have little time to play big upcoming titles for the Switch. What do you think of the Switch so far?

      Posted by MVS

    • Wow, I apologize for such a long delay is this response.
So many things seem to happen, and days can pass quickly.

I do not currently have The Switch, I do hope to at some point, though, I doubt that day will come any time soon.

How do you like it thus far? Do you find it to be worth it? Have you many games for it?

What have you been up to, been busy? How is school?
      Curious, what are you studying?

I apologize for so many questions, but I have not been able to post here for a while, and I figured that it would be nice to get caught up.

I have been busy working with some of my graphics, and posting here on the board.
Still, I hope that I soon find time to do more. I have a lot of projects that I have put aside for a while, and I hope to be able to return to them soon.

I have plans to post some new topics and polls soon. After that, I think that I might like to slow my activities here some, so that I can get other things accomplished.

You have some very interesting posts, and I hope to get a chance to read more from them soon.

      Tead.

      Posted by Tead

    • No worries, it's completely fine, and I know that very well myself.

I haven't played it as much as many others have. The only game I have for it so far is Zelda, but there is a ton of games that interests me, and two of the biggest are coming before the end of the year; Super Mario Odyssey and Xenoblade Chronicles 2. Then there is also the last DLC for Zelda which seems to be a bigger deal than the previous ones. But I am not going to lie, I am most excited for Xenoblade since the original on the Wii/New 3DS is one of my favorite games of all time. Then we have Metroid Prime 4 of course, and other "smaller titles", but seems interesting nontheless. I am not even done with the main game of BotW (want to complete my third file first), and yet I have not that much time to play.

So for me personally the Switch is more than worth it, but I am not as hardcore as others who easily can buy 20 games on a go. I am not that kind of person. I am not a "gamer". I am much more casual. But can get pretty hardcore when it comes to the fewer games I actually put my heart into.

It may seem a bit weird, but I think I want to be kind of anonymous here. If I change my mind I can let you know. But I am studying nontheless and I am done next year. Then I perhaps can put down more time on my Switch, and play through bigger titles I don't have time for now.

And yes, it is a smart choice in slowing down the activity here to do other more important things, so you get a thumb up from me on that. And I am looking forward to your new topics and polls.

    • What are you talking about, old? Pfff... I have never been in better shape!

      Posted by MVS

    • I was among the first in the forum to post that picture in ZU, so, it gave me a memorable feeling to see someone else using the picture!

I can't remember where they buried my serious art thread that contained this one.

      Posted by N64

    • Alright, but you found the picture on google as well I guess? It was this picture or "Link on steroids"-picture haha. The only thing that is more amusing than that is "realistic Mario". ^^

      Posted by MVS

    • Pics of Realistic Mario?

      Posted by N64

    • Well, there is a lot if you search for "realistic Mario" for example on google. I don't know how to get pictures in here though. I don't see a way for me to do that.

      Posted by MVS

  • Hi MVS, I saw your request for spoiler-free previews. Here's a link to a preview I read earlier: I think the wider Metro site is tabloid trash but the games section is extremely trustworthy. There is nothing that could be considered a spoiler if you've watched the E3 demos, except maybe a few small details about some enemies' behaviour.

    metro.co.uk/2017/02/24/the-leg…eview-eye-opener-6470487/

This reviewer generally gives glowing reviews to Zelda games at launch (they gave Skyward Sword 10/10) but may become a bit more critical when the hype dies down.

Sorry, just read your later post saying that you didn't need any more links. I'd delete this post, but I don't think I can.

    Posted by Tremjam

    • Thank you, even though I already have read some spoilerfree-tidbits from previews, so I am pretty satisfied on that front now. But I may take a peek into that link later haha. Thanks.

    ah well, hello!

    Posted by Solsetur

    • Hello there, was that user very active here? Perhaps I should change my name a little to not cause confusion? But I am bad with names. ^^

But yeah I am new, but have watched this forum for a long time.

      Posted by MVS

    • He was active a longgg time ago, haha. And yeah he was pretty active. I don't think your named caused too much confusion cause not many people are around who would remember him.

I like your new username btw! And it's good you finally joined up haha.

      How are things goin?

      Posted by Solsetur

    • Hello again, thanks. I don't know about that other guy, but for me at least CWP stood for "courage, wisdom, power". My new name is the same, but in Swedish instead. That's also the reason I took so long before I decided to join in, because of the language barrier. Now I feel a little more confident. Feels a little stiff, but I will hopefully get used to it. And feel free to let me know if I do some errors.

Aside from that it's going all right, how about you?

      Posted by MVS

    • Actually his was the same! He even had his sig and avatar themed after it for a long time haha. And yeah, that makes sense. There are plenty of people who use English as their second language though so if there are any mistakes it shouldn't bother anyone.

I am doing great! Currently trying to figure out how to make some images for my clan, I'm organizing a couple things right now and want to make it look snazzy haha. Lawnmower guy woke me up this morning :<

      Posted by Solsetur

    • To be honest I am more bothered when people don't correct me when I'm wrong than the opposite. I just look stupid in the long run if I just keep doing the same errors over and over again haha. But I know that the majority don't like people who correct them. As long as they keep it mature I don't see the problem really. Are you American?

I haven't got so much into all the stuff and activities that's going on at the forum. I have always just been interested in the threads. ^^
