  • Hey, just wanted to say not to worry about your reply to me in the Future Smash characters thread. It really wasn't a big deal.

    Posted by ich Will

    • It's cool. I didn't mean to poop up that thread, I just get paranoid easily. Over increasingly stupid things.

      Posted by Mango The Magician

    • Well, that wasn't reflected much in your reply to me from what I recall.

      Posted by ich Will

  • Mango, seriously bringing up femlink is a meme that is bigger than you. That was just a bit of fun that clearly many people can have. You were the last person on my mind when I posted that joke, not every mention of femlik needs to involve you, or is about you, the universe doesn't revolve around you.

    Posted by Lucretia

    • I wasn't thinking it was about me specifically. I'm also quite aware the universe doesn't revolve around me, thank you very much. Blatantly fishing for controversy pisses me off however. Meme or not.

      Posted by Mango The Magician

    • it was fishing for laughs, it wouldn't have been a problem if you could not react like someone just used the n word.

      Posted by Lucretia

    • All I did was kindly ask for you not to bring it up in that one particular thread. After your initial post however you then followed it up with another post illustrating that you don't consider Link's gender as something that is "sacred" which joke, or genuine opinion, or both, either way that's perfectly fine. However given the context, it read as if you mocking anyone who would care about Link's gender, or which hand he uses, which annoys me. The vast majority of what composes this fandom is people trying to piece together random bits of incoherent lore that hardly fit together, and said people get so volatile that they're at each other throats over which game takes place when, and yet caring about the appearance of the main character is where the line has to be drawn. Plus, seriously, ask yourself this, if someone made a joke on behalf of those who wanted a female Link, do you really think it'd go over as well? Like again, I get that you were joking, but it was clearly meant to poke fun at one side, not the whole discussion.

      Posted by Mango The Magician

    • seriously if someone made a joke about being anti fem link, i would get that it was a joke and joke back being pro fem link and we'd all have fun

      Posted by Lucretia

    • I doubt that, but I'm losing interest in continuing to bicker. Joke or not, I didn't find it funny. It read as if you were mocking anyone who would dare to care any facet of Link's appearance, in fact a lot of said thread reads that way, which again is just insulting when we have a nearly 400 page long thread about when a game that clearly doesn't take place in the timeline, takes place in the timeline.

  • Mario looks SO Italian in your profile picture, I love it.

      Posted by Mango The Magician

    • Saw your post in the negative thread. Prioritizing some feel-good habits like hiking or working out might be a good start toward bettering your situation and feeling better about yourself. A few years ago I was in a pretty negative place in my head, and cutting back on the video games and hitting the gym worked wonders for my self esteem and quality of life.

      Posted by Bartimaeus Sex

    • Yeah I know. Things just aren't good right now for me and they haven't been for quite some time. I don't think a gym would work, at least not right now and not with how I view myself/body, but I know that I shouldn't compare myself to others. Anyways, thanks for caring enough to come and try to console me. That means a lot.

      Posted by Mango The Magician

    • To console wasn’t really my intent, though I guess I’m glad it helped. Just wanted to toss an option your way. Feeling like you lack options is the worst, and I’m my experience usually untrue. Don’t let your thoughts hold you back! :) I did for way too long.

  • Happy birthday. You know, I've never eaten a mango before.

    That's not a threat, I promise.

  • Broodal Harriet is so hot o///o

    Posted by HylianKnight

  • Aw Mango I'm sorry. Usually reading a good book or watching lighthearted television keeps the nightmares away. Idk if that could work for you.

    Posted by Winnie

    • First of all, thank you for the concern, that's really sweet. :) Anyways, I don't know if it'll work but I'm probably gonna watch some really lighthearted cartoons. I don't know though, as lately my anxiety over dumb stuff has been through the roof and that's without a doubt the cause of said nightmares, so I'm not sure if it work or not. On that note, do you know of any sites with stuff to read that's like not fan fiction? I have felt like reading the last couple of days.

      Posted by Mango The Magician

    • So I don't know any websites but usually reading fantasy books before bed or watching lighthearted cartoons that make me laugh helps. I also tend to sweat the small stuff so reading leadership/motivational books helps to keep my mind at ease. It sounds cheesy but it helps!

  • Another fan of Paper Mario who is currently a cashier that likely would be doing something better if it were only that simple...I feel I can relate. lol Though, I at least must say that Color Splash was a step in the right direction when it comes to what they want to do with the Paper Mario games now, had a good sense of humour and some of the other stuff people loved about the games that came before the atrocity that was Sticker Star. I do remember the developers saying an HD remake of The Thousand-Year Door was possible if there was enough of a demand too, but there's likely no point in getting one's hopes up for that, as nice as it would be. =v= Hmmm, and in regards to your commend about originality down there, I can imagine Super Mario Odyssey was likely a big relief, eh? I just wish its release wasn't so far off, especially since it's apparently almost done development. ;-;

    Posted by Lord Vain

    • Lol I actually haven't had the chance to play either Color Splash or Sticker Star yet. How are they in terms of story? I know they only really use Toads and basic good guy Mario characters for their plots, but are they at least interesting? Also, I'd love a HD PMTYD on the Switch, but it feels like Nintendo honestly wants to bury that game. :/ Thus I'd settle with just having Gamecube VC...which is another thing they avoid like the plague. As for Mario Odyssey, I was estatic at first because while I loved 3D World, I wanted a new big game that could compare to Galaxy 1, Sunshine, and 64, but then I got weird out by the humans :P. Though, having had time to let the dust settle, I think I'm actually more excited for Odyssey than Breath of the Wild if you can believe it. All that said, with all the weird locations, kinda a missed opportunity to call the game "Super Mario Oddyssey."

      Posted by Mango The Magician

    • Oh. lol Hmmm, well, how did I often put it now...I had actually beat Sticker Star 100% way back around its original release, so I'll say it was an okish game, just not at all a good Paper Mario game. The story in it wasn't really much to boast about either, whereas Color Splash actually had a lot more meat to it, in my opinion. The fans were sure to be very vocal about how bad Sticker Star was though, which is why how much better Color Splash was really made a lot of people happy, just really showed that they did care and were listening to the bad feedback. It has a Card mechanic instead, which was no doubt inspired by the Stickers from the 3DS title, and Thing items return in the game, having been an idea taken from Sticker Star. They actually balanced stuff out alright though, whereas the Sticker mechanic in the 3DS game was really overused.

Oh, and as far as the Toads go, yeah, I'd say they actually are pretty interesting in Color Splash. I mean, the only difference between most of them is colour and style of clothing, but they aren't all bland and also have their own charms as far as personality and everything goes. I can't really say Sticker Star did that stuff as well though, Color Splash was just them kind of taking what they did wrong there and working on it. lol Ah, and I dunno if I'd say they want to bury it outright, as it very well may release on the Switch Virtual Console if they're finally gonna be giving us GameCube titles, I know Nintendo brought the original Paper Mario and even Super Paper Mario to the Wii U eShop too.

They've certainly made it clear that they want to focus on RPG stuff for the Mario & Luigi games, but they don't seem to want to leave the past Paper Mario titles Pre-Sticker Star behind, they've still been brought along eventually. Oof. lol Yeah, and I can get that, was sort of weird seeing Mario next to realistic people...though, your current avatar actually reminds me of a post I had come up on my Tumblr dash. We've already seen Sonic alongside real people in Sonic Adventure DX, now it's just Mario's turn. :p

I've actually always been a big Super Mario guy myself, so nah, I can believe it. lol I mean, I am genuinely upset the rumours about it being at launch weren't true, and the fact that it's been stated to be near completion just adds salt to the wound, I want it now. ;-; Hah, and very punny, was sort of expecting it to just be another Galaxy title myself, or maybe even be called "Super Mario Universe", but it does look nice in either case and I'm glad to finally have another free roaming Mario title.

  • So....Paper Mario The Thousand-Year Door fan?

    Posted by TemmieWeirdo

    • Yeah I'm a huge fan of the first three PM games and TTYD has my favorite partners.

      Posted by Mango The Magician

    • Paper Mario TTYD was a Ground-Breaking RPG which is one of my favorite RPGs and one of my favorite games of all time.Too bad none of its gameplay really affected any of the 3 future games after it.

      Posted by TemmieWeirdo

    • Yeah...I was hoping Color Splash would be a return to the roots of PM but it seems to be another step in the same direction that all Mario games have been heading; less originality, more platforming, and all around more focus of Mario tropes. It's a shame but that's what we gotta deal with.

  • Happy birthday, Mango!!!!

    Posted by Linkle

    • Thank you, and sorry for not replying, it's been a long couple of days.

      Posted by Mango The Magician

    • It's okay. Want to tell me what's going on? I'd be happy to help.

      Posted by Linkle

    • Thanks, but I don't really have any internet right now, and as such have to result tot sitting outside a closed bar and jacking their wifi, so I can't really hold any extensive conversations. That said, it's a long complicated story, and I'm not even really sure where to begin. Regardless, I'm feeling better today, thank you for the concern though, and maybe when I get some more reliable internet, we could talk.

      Posted by Mango The Magician

    • Alright, sounds good. :)

Sorry to hear about your internet, though. And I'm glad to hear you're feeling better. Just hang in there, pal! It'll be alright.

      Posted by Linkle

    • Hey kinda random but could I cash in that "talk later" chip in the next couple of days or so? I just really need someone to talk to.

      Preferably in a private conversation.

      Posted by Mango The Magician

  • so why mangos

    Posted by goronmario

    • Why not Mangos?

(originally the character I created "Mango The Magician" was gonna be a parody of anime and manga tropes thus she was named as such because of the joke about people confusing the words Manga and Mango. However, I just stuck with it as it fits her personality.)

      Posted by Mango The Magician

    • Oh so I'm guessin' that you're a BAer then?

      Posted by goronmario

    • What's "BA" stand for?

      Posted by Mango The Magician

    • Isn't it the RP section? I haven't been in there for years haha

      Posted by goronmario

    • Oh, lol, no I meant more like a character you design for a cartoon or video game. I love drawing and designing characters and that's what she is, just a character I created, that I'd love to do something with one day. I'd love to cosplay as her though, but I don't think I'd look very convincing at alll. XD

      Posted by Mango The Magician

  • Hey girl! Why are you going paranoid over Zelda stuff? :) Something bothering else you perhaps? I hope you'll get over it, because it doesn't sound like fun for you.

    Posted by Canyarion

    • I just I don't want this to lead to a future where Link is actually totally gender neutral. Every game has referred to him as somekind of gender word before, I really hope BotW doesn't go out of it's way not to. Though it's easy to look at BotW and know that Link is male because he can be shirtless and he sounds like a dude, in a future where you're always stuck in one set of clothes and his voice isn't as masculine, you may not be able to know, and that thought scares me, just as much as the thought of customizing Link's gender scared me.

      Posted by Mango The Magician

    • But why do you even care this much about it? Zelda is great, but in the end it's just a hobby.

I remember being a huge fan of Tolkien, Lord of the Rings etc, before the films. But then The Hobbit came out and it killed my enthusiasm by being so bad. At least I had Zelda to fall back on. Now I'll still read the Tolkien books now and then... I stopped caring about it too much.

      Posted by Canyarion

    • Kinda forgot you replied, sorry. But anyways, I don't know, I just care. Maybe things would be different if this was nintendos decision, but the only reason that this whole topic over Link even exists is because people are essentially trying to force Nintendo to change their own game series, and that coupled with my natural dislike of seeing anything I grew up with changed, plus my random bursts of very strong anxiety, sorta made the perfect storm when it comes to this topic. Thankfully, with the neutral stuff they seem to be talking about Link appearance and not his actual gender, and all around they don't like the idea of a fem Link either so, I'm still cautious, but happy.

      Posted by Mango The Magician

  • So... The female Link rumour is fake? (The people who made fun of you in that other forum... Who's laughing now? :D

    Posted by Yuna Aishi

    • Well, I'm still hesitant to let my guard down, but I hope they can enjoy the game without a femLink. I kinda hope Zelda is playable though.

      Posted by Mango The Magician

  • Well mainly because SEGA has thrown Sonic into that position :P Just look at how the Sonic Twitter and FB pages arr handled. And well both of the games consideree the worst for each series, are at around a equal level, they can be enjoyed, but are nowhere to the quality of the rest of the series, Sonic has the disadvantage of them also being buggy hells.

While in general perspective, it has todo with how people seeit overall :/ In its glory days, Crash was developed by Naugthy Dog, so it has pedigree to its name, aside of once being a PS exclusive, which sadly gives it a free pass nowaday. Since the majority has turned to a idea of "If Sony does it, it is great, but do not let another do it, because they will be burn alive"

    Posted by tlozbj

    • Sorry for the late reply. I get where you're coming from, but there's a difference between what the amazing twitter account does, and with people declaring that a game we don't even know exists yet will be terrible. There's also a huge difference between what was Crash was and what he is now. Speaking as a huge fan of the bandicoot, I highly doubt that a new game, even one made by ND, would compare to the originals. It'd probably at best be the same as Knack, assuming ND made it, if Activison made it then you're looking at something around the level of Mind over Mutant, maybe at the level of Skylanders.

I don't really say this to harp on Crash, I just think it's silly that people look forward to a new Crash, considering that the series hasn't had a decent game since WoC, and a actual great game since Warped, which both were over a decade ago, with Warped almost being 20. While conversely ever since Unleashed, Sonic has seen a spike upwards. I don't know though, to me so long as both are good I'm happy I guess.

Also, lol Twinsanity is pretty darn buggy. :P It's not 06, but it has it's moments.

      Posted by Mango The Magician

    • Ah! D; Sorry forgot D:

Yeah, but the case with Sonic is that aside of Generations and Unleashed, the Hedgehog has gotten a game that gets general acclaim since way before Sonic 06. So it is also a case of public opinion being on the ground and need a miracle to recover. Well it is true it would be hard to bring back Crash at the same level of the originals, but they could also always do a remaster, or a reboot remaster a la R&C.

Though whatever Unleashed and Generatoins recovered, was thrown back to the ground by Boom, whici is the problem, they begin to fix things, and then throw them back into the ground.

Well only remember bugginess in the beach area, not much anywhere else :P I didn't get to play 06 fully, that snow part once you got to the part of the city, got all buggy and I just left the game to return another day, and never came back.

Your the Mango from NE, right?

      Posted by tlozbj

    • Well, if I remember correctly you could actually restart the whole story in Twinsanity, which is just bad. But yeah I agree that to the general public, Boom damaged Sonics image, but it's important to remember that BRB made Sonic Boom, not Sonic Team.

Also yes, my Disqus name is "Mango" I'm also on ZD forums as "ZeldafreakCJM." Though I try to pull back the intense rage that burns within me when on this forum.

    • Really?! Well that is the first I heard that one, I just kne about the usual buggy clipping through the wall things. While it is true the Sonic Team didn't make it, but it was still up to SEGA rushing them what leaded to the problem :/ The game was promising, but it getting rushed by the higher-ups is what killed it. So it is still up to SEGA, not hte Sonic Team, but SEGA. Also for some reason, even on Lost World peple found bad, mainly because of the "lack of speed'. Though this days, that was also a case of "always have something to whine about Sonic" and a "If it is a 3rd party Nintendo exclusive it = bad"

But poor little froggy Mario's feeling(Wiiware something was it?) D: So defenseless, so sad, such stupid. That guy can easily get to one's nerves. By his second answer, I would had already gotten my blood boiling and ready to thrown insults at him :v

      Posted by tlozbj

  • Hey so, where exactly do you stand on the fem Link debate?

    Posted by Kaylin

    • I'm anti-fem Link and anti-custom Link, both for similar reasons and for different reasons. Plus, I've dealt a lot with people (not really here mind you) rediculing me for caring about a character as much as I do so which has made the idea of Link actually being changed all the more insulting to me. If people actually care about female representation or a playable female, there's no reason why a playable Zelda or something akin to Linkle couldn't fill that gap.

      Posted by Mango The Magician

    • Note, that last line isn't meant to be an insult.

      Posted by Mango The Magician

    • Yeah no I totally agree, don't worry. I was just wondering where you stood. For me, it's more about how it would fit in with timeline continuity if too many customisation options were offered, but it's also about Link's image as an iconic Nintendo character. I can think of a few ways in which it could work, but I'm mostly with you, I think it's highly unnecessary.

      Posted by Kaylin

  • Hi Mango. :) Just thought I'd say hi, 'cause, you know, we're a lot alike and yet somehow I've never said hello before.

    Posted by Linkle

    • I thought we had talked before. Huh. Well hello! :)

      Posted by Mango The Magician

    • Well, we've only really spoken to each other inside of threads, from what I remember. ^^ I just thought it might be nice for both of us if we had each other to talk to.

      Posted by Linkle

    • Lol that would be nice. It might be a bit better if we had a conversation box though as this profile comment system blows. But yeah anything you want to talk about just send me a conversation thiny.

      Posted by Mango The Magician

  • No, I don't have your Sol Emeralds, ask someone else :P

    Posted by Mordred

  • What are you implying here if you don't mind me asking? I think all people fear the idea of being raped, that's just logical. Anyone can be raped and anyone can rape, one sex has no reason or justification to fear the other more so, unless you mean to imply that one is inherently weaker and thus needs to be coddled and/or the other is inherently stronger and should thus be cared for less.

    Posted by Lucretia

    • Ooops, that posted before I reply to it, sorry! Anyway what I am implying is that men and women interpret fear differently. Women are told to fear rape all the time, "don't go out wearing nothing", "careful when you're alone at night", whereas men receive none of that.

      Posted by Lucretia

    • ...Except they do. Not going out alone at night, being told to be safe, that's just basic parenting. I mean sure, you got a point about the whole clothes point of view, but to imply that men can't fear or don't fear rape is just innaccurate. I also doubt the whole interpeting fear differently thing but that's just me.

      Posted by Mango The Magician

    • didn't say they can't fear it, i said they generally don't honey, not the way women do

      Posted by Lucretia

  • So its going to be the blue and black dress thing, huh Mango? I hate you with a rabid passion. >:V

    Posted by Arizora

  • So are you basically a magical fruit? Because thats pretty kool.

    Posted by JP the Neurotic

    • Well, the name is the name of a character I made, who's a girl named "Mango" who's a magician, but a magical fruit would be kool.

      Posted by Mango The Magician

    • oh really? Like a character in a stroy or something?

      Posted by JP the Neurotic

    • Well, not in anything really elaborate, yet at least. The only thing that exists so far is drawings of her. I'm not sure what I want to do with the character though, as when I created her I had this dream of her being a manga character, then that became a video game character, and now the pipedream is anime stylized cartoon character first than video game character second. :P Basically, I love designing characters and drawing them and whatnot, and I'm a bit ambitious when it comes to what I'd want to do with them, but I lack the motivation to do anything.
