XD I think you're mistaking me for Willow-chan? She's one that will/might work in a pharmacy. I... work in retail ;_; Ahhhhhh! AND I HATES IT! T_T
Nope, no injuries, his best friend had injuries, but he's ok now. lol.
Aquarium = both success/failure. I've lost a few fish on and off throughout the year, BUTTT.... it's a work in progress. I know they can't live without some filth, like algae and stuff, and I know they can't live with it. I clean it like once a month, when I can find the time. lol. :/ Poor fishies. Anywho though, I'm down to 8 or 7 of them, out of the 12 I started with.
I still have: 2 gold algae eaters, 3 tiger barbs, 1 orange platty, and 1 sunburst platty.
It's... goin'. lol. I still lurk this place, sometimes there's interesting topics.
Well... I'm still at my crap job, got moved to day shift because of drama with a coworker. Also got engaged on Dec. 17th. And then on Dec 22nd, got in a car accident with my fiance. His car isn't super ruined, he's gonna work on that this summer. I'm just trying to survive. lol. Between my crappy paychecks, and lack of hours at work, I'm getting no where, fast.
Otherwise things are alright, so far.
Every time I see your sig I get the urge to watch Cowboy Bebop.
I'm to opposite! xD
True stuff! I always hear I'm the most laid back of my siblings ^_^;;
I'm glad you're fine now! ^_^
I haven't had the best day, but I'm sure things'll be okay in the end.
No, I haven't even ordered it yet. It isn't high on my "must read" list right now (to be honest, it's near the bottom). But I hope this will become a popular series if it's any good. It's fairly rare to find an author nowadays that only creates one book for a particular character.
You may have to wait for 9-18 months for a paperback to come out:/
Sugoi! You went to culinary school!? That's really really cool! ^_^ I've always wanted to be a better chef... Maybe I'll get you to teach me someday. And as for being the youngest... It sucks, doesn't it? -_-
That's an excellent way to put things! ^_^ I hope you find your calling in life
JOIN ME, FELLOW POLAR BEAR, AN WE WILL TAKE OVER THE WORLD
Well, it's kinda hard sometimes, what with all the jeering, but I'm used to it. ^_^;; Can't say school never taught me anything.
Indeed it will, however I haven't been hearing any buzz about the book. I suppose that will happen when the release date is around the corner and people are standing outside in a line for a book (while eReaders will just laugh and download it). I think Rowling is more creative than to re-create the same characters. Heck, it would be dumb of her to make this take place in the same universe as the Harry Potter books.
Well he does write other books outside of the ASoI&F series, it could have been one of those.
I have a feeling that it won't have the same format. Why? Because Rowling said that this is going to be her first "adult" book [spoiler]not "adult" meaning sex/smut, but just meant for adults[/spoiler], so I'd expect a different outcome there. The premise is that an important figure in a small town has passed away, and the story unravels how everybody reacts and tries to fill in the void of the positions he's left vacant.
[espoiler]Really? The only books that I know of that he's writing are The Winds of Winter and The She-Wolves of Winterfell. Once you find the title of that book, please tell me.
Speaking of new book releases, J.K. Rowling's new book "The Casual Vacancy" is coming out next week, are you going to buy it?[/espoiler]
I'll be license-less forever.
I have to go renew that piece of shit permit... I really don't want to, to me, it's just a reminder that if I take the test, I'll fail it again... At this rate, I'll probably lose my boyfriend and be dependent on my parents for-fucking-ever...
[espoiler]Top of my head, I'd have to say yes, Littlefinger is older than Tyrion. Although ages aren't outright said in the series, you can guess how old people are more or less. For example, Littlefinger has to be around the same age as Cat (he tried to fight for her hand when she was promised to Brandon Stark), they are childhood friends. And the fact that Cat has older children than Cersei, makes me think that Cat is older than her. So therefore, since Cersei is older than Tyrion, Littlefinger is also older than him (but not by much).
[espoiler]You know what? That's actually a legitimate answer even if you were joking or not. I suppose it would just depend on how long Littlefinger has been in the brothel-business (because Tyrion got married rather young I seem to recall).
I always saw Tywin's response as saying like "Whichever one of the seven hells whores go to"[/espoiler]
??? Are we where, yet? lol.
Work? :O What job did you get?
Cool! Do you know what profession you want to go into? Really? Ugh, I hate hot summers. -__- I much prefer the cold. You'll be used to the weather eventually~ ^_^ Oooh! I love artist and coffee shops! I hope you have plenty of time to explore your surroundings :3
Choking on hairspray xD I hate the stuff, but it makes my wigs stay in shape so nicely ;___;
How are you doing as of late?
You did it again in the "You and the series" discussion thread. You mentioned Jon's direwolf as "Snow" rather than "Ghost".
How will you be surprised if you've already read the wiki about all the major characters?
That is very true, however how can you prove if someone is a Blackfyre or not? And I don't know if they are extinct, we know very little about them. What I'd like to know is what was their allegiance during Robert Baratheon's war? Did they side with Robert or with the crazy dead king?
Thanks, I'll give it a look sometime soon^_^
Where do whores go?
I hope you settle in nicely! ^_^
Film School!? Woooooow! Sugoi! What's the school like? (I've never been to Vancouver myself, but I hear it's marvelous) I know what you mean about the getting lost part O____O;;;
No problem. Real life goes before online stuff. You know, I invited you to the social club so you can discuss these things in there. That's the reason I've corralled everybody in there, so we can all have our discussions in there (it doesn't matter if you've completed the series or not, it's still fun to talk about).
[espoiler]Here's to hoping that not all of UnCat is crazy.
Technically they are not the only Targaryens that are breathing. There is a bastard branch of the Targaryen side of the family named the "Blackfyre". I think I've mentioned them before (however there haven't been any notable characters from that side of the family). There is speculation that this "Aegon" could very well in fact be a Blackfyre posing as a Targaryen.
Yes, I asked if you knew any good fan-fics. Please link it to me.[/espoiler]
Ahhhh! *jealousy* I hope you have an excellent time there! Beautiful country, it is. Are you in Ontario? People usually go there.
Bwah! Hey you, how've you been?
[espoiler]In the very sexist world of ASoI&F, it doesn't matter what UnCat thinks, she's a woman (an undead woman at that). I don't think she's going to send her men all the way up to Winterfell to kill Jon from being King. Better in his hands than the enemy. Well when it comes to heir to the throne, it goes in this order: Ned, Robb, Bran, Rickon, Sansa, Arya, and then Jon. It's men first, women second, bastards last. The queen would only become Regent if a king/queen is too young to rule (which in this world, 14 is old enough to rule). The problem as you've noticed is that Ned & Robb are dead. Bran & Rickon are believed to be dead. Sansa is wanted for being involved in the death of King Joffrey (running away doesn't make her seem innocent of that accusation), so if she reveals herself as Queen of Winterfell, then she'd become a large stationary target. That's why they have sent a fake Arya off to Winterfell. Let's say if "Fake Arya" is killed, Jon has the right to be King of Winterfell.
The only way Bran can be Rickon's bookkeeper is if they both return to Winterfell alive, and Bran decided to refuse the crown (you can do that, Maester Aemon refused the crown and passed it along to his younger brother Aegon V Targaryen). Bran may be crippled, however if he returns to Winterfell, he may be able to learn a lot of the world by sitting next to the weirwood tree.
Yes, I was also hoping that they could have met Dany, but nothing is fair in life:( As for Aegon, I disagree about Dany having more claim to it than him. Aegon is Rhaegar's son, so that means he's ahead of the line for the throne. It doesn't matter that Dany is older, she's still the youngest in the family. Let's say the Targaryen family were still alive, it would go in this order:
2. Aegon (because he's the son of Rhaegar)
3. Rhaenys (because she's the daughter of Rhaegar)
4. Viserys would be forth unless Rhaegar and Elia had more children.
5. Daenerys would be fifth unless Visery's got married and his wife had kids.
6. Rhaego (because he's the son of Daenerys)[/espoiler]
[espoiler]Just like how Tywin was the Lord Regent for Tommen until he's of age to rule, that's the most I can see of Jon for two reasons: He isn't recognized as a Stark (Stannis could change that), he's a Targaryen (well that's just a theory I believe in, plus kids take the name from their father). I doubt that Bran will ever come back...he's going to stay up there, just like Bloodraven, being the eyes and ears of the Old Gods...that is, unless he survives these upcoming wars, then I'm sure he can do what he's doing now at any weirwood (like the one in Winterfell) and keep an eye on things.
Well we the readers don't know exactly how much "a lot of support" that was. I always suspected Dorne, but that wouldn't have been enough. Drogo had 10,000 riders. In a world where there's probably a few million people, 10K riders could mean victory for yourself. But as you have read, Dany didn't get her 10K, so she's slowly had to gain her army (and let her dragons grow...believe me, she'll be more threatening with full grown dragons). Plus Dany's Westeros support will only be confident enough if they can see that she can turn up with an army of her own. Since I've told you about Aegon, it seems like he might be able to start Dany's war for her.
Long story short (so we can end this Superman business...I just like talking about ASoI&F): Kryptonians on Krypton are as normal as human beings. No superpowers. It's Earth's yellow sun that gives them the superpowers. So if you took a Kryptonian out of the Bottle City of Kandor, made him human sized, and let him absorb the Earth's sun for a few hours, then he'll have Superman's powers (he just won't have the mastery of it..that takes time).[/espoiler]
[espoiler]I wonder, with Jon's "death", and if he is revived, does that mean that he no longer has to abide by his vows as a crow and lord commander? Could he go down to Winterfell, help Stannis take it back, and then become the temporary king until Rickon comes back (or maybe Stannis could officially make him a Stark).
We'll never know about the Blackfyre's won't we? Viserys said that they had a lot of support waiting in the wings, maybe he was referring to them (Viserys was a young boy, we don't know how much knowledge he had about the bastard side of the family).
Indeed, there is inconsistency (because comic books have redone themselves multiple times. Their excuse is, multiple universes). But what I meant to say about the Bottle City of Kandor is that they are all Kryptonians. Every citizen has the potential of being another Superman.[/espoiler]
lol you said "Snow and Greywind" again. I think you meant to say "Ghost and Greywind".
[espoiler]The Stone Dragon is on Dragonstone island. And I hope he isn't reborn as a dragon, I just want him reborn in a way how Dany was reborn. When Dany made that pyre for Drogo, she was prepared to kill herself, she didn't know she was fireproof.
As far as introducing more Targaryens, I want you to look up the "Blackfyre" family on wikipedia. They are a bastard family of the Targaryens. Not only that, but if you read the description of some characters, you might think that they have some Targaryen (or Blackfyre) blood in them.
When it comes to Superman, I get your analogy but there's far more than just the Superheroes. Wikipedia "The Bottle City of Kandor" to read more of what I'm thinking about.
I believe you mean Snow and Ghost. Honestly I've been trying to vie away from gaming for awhile. I REALLY need to learn to prioritize my time and not be distracted (ZU and YouTube are enough of a distraction/time waster as it is). Reading is a pleasure that I won't give up.
[espoiler]Well Mel has mentioned that there is power in King's Blood. Considering Mel was interested in using Edric Storm's blood to revive a stone dragon, and was interested in Mance Rayder's child, I don't know what she'll want to do with Jon's corpse. If Jon is dead, then maybe she'll try to use his blood to power her magic.
And yes, Aegon really is alive. I assumed you knew. But considering you'll read about his profile on wiki, I'll just say that Varys spared his life by trading the baby with a peasant baby's body. Dany has been raised to believe that ruling Westeros is her right. Aegon has been raised that it's his duty.
Might I also say that there are multiple "Aegon"s. So ones that have been mentioned in previous books, you have to read the context.[/espoiler]
There are Game of Thrones action figures? I'm not surprised considering that's a very common commodity for sales figures, I just haven't seen any. Doesn't GRRM deserve to be rich? I mean writers honestly don't get that much notoriety compared to other forms of the arts. If it wasn't for Game of Thrones, his sales wouldn't be as big as they are right now. And as far as eReaders go, yes they are super convenient when it comes to transporting all of your books (not so much if your eReader gets damaged...because you figuratively have all your eggs in one basket). Times like these I wish we could invent a shrink-ray or a pokeball-like device to help transport all of the large & heavy items.
[espoiler]Shenron would be awesome. Let's hope it is a one time thing. I sometimes think that it can be used like Midna from TP, the shadow demon is now part of Mel's shadow (or maybe it's part of Stannis' to protect him while they're separate). Mel needed to have sex with Stannis in order to summon that shadow demon...what will she need to do to summon a shadow dragon;) lol. And speaking of Mel, for the longest time I think that she's a bad person because of her dark magic, but maybe that's meant to be a red herring for us. We suspect her to be evil, but in the end she isn't. I'm sure you recall that she took three leeches full of Stannis' blood called out the names of Joffrey, Robb, and Renly and they all died. She was directly involved in Renly's death, but can we really say that she was involved in Robb & Joffrey's?
No I don't think Ice & Fire means Albino direwolf, I was just making another connection of the title to something shown in the book. I don't think Jon & Dany will fight each other. I predict that Aegon will try to take over the realm while Dany helps the wall protect it from the Others.
Ninetails is a fox, not a wolf...and birds aren't dragons (but they might have a common ancestor considering dragons are reptilian in nature, and birds come from reptiles). A better analogy would be Wolf Link vs 3 Spyros[/espoiler]
As much as I'd prefer that you spend the money to buy the book so that GRRM can get a little bit richer, if money is tight, you can read A Dance with Dragons [URL=http://dl.get.freesoft.ru/7004522612/140054/A_Dance_With_Dragons.pdf]here[/URL], and purchase the book later. Who wants an incomplete series on their bookshelf? That's sorta a minor reason why I haven't purchased an eReader, I don't want some books on the shelf and the rest on my eReader. If only there was a way the eReader could scan the bar-code, confirm that you are the owner, and then you'd have a free digital copy for your eReader. I mean, some DVDs come with that option (a digital version) in the case, why not books?
[espoiler]Well they are water dragons...there's plenty of water in the world. I imagine that they look like the loch ness monster, or a large water serpent...I choose you Gyrados! I'm still curious if Mel's shadow demon that killed Renly is still alive, or was it a one-time thing? A Shadow Dragon would be useful as long as it can breath fire (you know, to kill the wights).
Oh and I thought of another meaning for fire and ice: Ghost has red eyes and white fur.[/espoiler]
So I take it you use your iPad as your eReader, correct? Ok gotcha. And just to get this out of the way so we can talk about ASoI&F: no, I've never read/liked the Twilight series. I will admit, I did see the first movie (I had no choice, I was out on a date), but that's it.
Well as far as what "Ice & Fire" means, when I first read the book, I thought it was talking about the swords. And it very well still can. Ice, the sword of the Starks who believe in the Old Gods. And Fire, the sword of Stannis who believes in R'hllor (the newest god in Westeros). There can be a lot of interpretations of what the title can actually mean.
I don't know if you know this, but there are other dragons mentioned in the series. [spoiler]Ok, so we have Dany's three Fire Dragons and Adara's Ice Dragon that you recognize. Well the Ironborn have mentioned that there have been Water Dragons in the past (and one of their ancestor kings fought one). Mel has offered Stannis to reanimate a Stone Dragon in exchange for the life of Edric Strom (Robert Baratheon's only openly acknowledged bastard), and then there's also a prophecy featuring a Shadow Dragon (maybe Mel has something to do with that. Who knows).[/spoiler]
As for the TV show, yes, by the time they start filming book #6 it will be the year 2019. If book #6 comes out in 2014/5 then that will only leave GRRM 4-5 years to complete #7 before the writers of the show have to read it for themselves and translate it into a script for the audience.
PS: And I've only skimmed through the graphic novel while in a Barnes and Noble. I do believe they've also turned "The Tales of Dunk & Egg" into a graphic novel as well.
