  • Happy late birthday. (throwback does away with the birthday listings)

  • Happy birthday, bud.

  • Happy birthday, Vulpes-san! Hope you have an especially great day!

  • Happy Birthday Vulpes! Hope it is a good one!

  • Hey!

I didn't want to post in the SD thread since Pietro made it clear to cease the discussion regarding the topic in which we were discussing as per Forum rules.

I thought it would make sense at the very least to come to you directly to admit that I was certainly mistaken about the topic at hand - especially having never really read the book (for good reason), and I was basing it off the quote I had presented to you. I simply didn't want any discourse downplaying the victims. I also didn't want to make an attempt to rationalize, what I believe, is an irrational ideology which I suppose we both ended up doing in some sense one way or another. I also didn't want to leave you without a reply whether you were or weren't seeking one.

    Have a good day Vulpes.

    • No problem. It was certainly not my intent to imply that Muslims are in any way deserving of such attacks, and I hope it didn't come across that way. And of course, Hitler's admiration for Islam, such as it was, was hardly based on an accurate understanding of it.

  • What is thy favorite anime??

  • Re: sticker star, aye, biggest issue imo that it labeled itself as a Paper Mario.

Yet, I can't say I disliked playing through the last two games. The things that could be done better are just painfuly obvious.

I made a thread on the Mario RPG's years ago. It really hurts seeing how the Mario and Luigi series got infected by the Sticker Star philosophy.

    • Even if it wasn't labeled Paper Mario, making most battles pointless isn't a good design choice. In the first two Paper Mario games, the battles are like a puzzle due to the determinism and small numbers, plus you get experience. The numbers are a lot bigger in Sticker Star, plus you can't choose who to attack, the action commands are simplistic, and being able to attack more than once is a crapshoot. It makes the battles painful instead of fun.

      Posted by Vulpes

    • I really wonder how you mean the word "determinism" here.

      Posted by gamtos

    • Unlike in most RPGs, your attacks always cause the same amount of damage under the same circumstances.

      Posted by Vulpes

    • Ah like that.

Not really true. Enemies having one or two defense points was huge in the battle system, but I see your point. I'd've liked an elemental element to battles though.

My main issue was that bosses are either impossible or weak.

Didn't like the style break of "Things" either.

Even before the game came out I already had a comic made that went like "oho scissors on paper how quirky but what about partners".

  • So I finally beat SMB2 (the one with Shy Guys and such). People keep telling me, "Ecrofirt, this game is easier than The Lost Levels." but imma have to be a contrarian on that. SMB2 is harder than SMB2j because you have two continues in the NES version. I was playing on SNES, and I could just play World 7 over and over -- which is great because I had to play it over and over! ;)

(I realize that there are warps to get back to World 7 quickly, but man: 7-2 is just brutal. If you're not playing as Peach, it's as tough as any TLL level.)

    • I don't like the SNES version. The graphics are too busy for such a simple game.

  • Any interest in DnD?

I'm looking for a 5th player in a (somewhat) experimental campaign I'm running, if you're interested. It would require voice chat (though you could just listen and type to us), a Roll20 account, and Discord.

    Posted by Solsetur

    • Never played it, sorry.

      Posted by Vulpes

    • no interest in getting into it? i dont mind having a new player aboard, it's fun to introduce someone to it

      Posted by Solsetur

    • If you'd asked me at the beginning of the summer, I'd have considered it, but in a week my responsibilities are about to go way up. Maybe next time.

      Posted by Vulpes

    • If it makes a difference, it's not going to be like a lot of DnD's where you have a weekly commitment - it's something that would probably happen once every two months or so.

That's cool though, hope your responsibilities go well. Lemme know if you change your mind since the spot will probably stay open for a while!

      Posted by Solsetur

    • I should have a better idea of exactly what my workload will be in a week or two. If it's less than I expect, I might just change my mind.

      Posted by Vulpes

  • Have you played any of the modern Deus Ex's yet or is it a first run?

    Posted by Solsetur

    • First one. Why? Do you think I should play the first one first?

      Posted by Vulpes

    • Ive only played Human Revolution and Manking Divided -- they're both excellent and I was gonna say to let me know what you think :p

    Posted by Guinea

    • It's more accurate to say I haven't seen a movie in full released later than 2009, if that affects your cookie handout.

      Posted by Vulpes

  • this should go without saying, but if you're not in the game you really shouldn't post in the game thread

    Posted by gerudoyoshi

    • The game had not started. I defy you to tell me my contribution was less than people saying "subbed".

      Posted by Vulpes

    • the game has in fact started

      Posted by gerudoyoshi

    • Posting "subbed" is not part of the game in my book, especially when posting is not necessary to subscribe to a thread.

      Posted by Vulpes

    • it's common courtesy to stay out of the mafia game thread unless you're in the game. thanks.

      Posted by gerudoyoshi

    • I'd say it's common courtesy not to call people names for making a playful joke that did not actually cause any disruption to what is supposed to be a fun and silly game, especially when you're just going to delete all the posts involved anyway, and yet, here we are.

  • Welcome back ~ I was wondering if I would ever see you 'round these parts again. :) (of course, I am assuming that you remember me, which might not be the case!)

    • I go, I come back.
Are you still pursuing art, Jinny?

      Posted by Vulpes

    • Oh, has it been that long, I wonder? I'm in my third year of a doctoral program for art history.

      Posted by Jehanne

    • Are you liking it more than nuclear engineering? What's your research interest?

      Posted by Vulpes

  • Happy birthday foxy!

  • Long time no see! Also, merry bday and all that jazz xo

  • Actually you're right about the taste of coffee. Some taste and smell like tobacco.

    Posted by N64

  • Technically, you are correct that the count didn't get to 100. Honestly, I'm glad you said something since most people overlooked it, including me. It's a shame some people got angry about it, I don't want a mod to have to come in to settle things.

  • hello. Was just looking at the RPG newsletter and was wondering if you were still looking for someone to RP with. Get back to me if you'd like to :)

    Posted by TheRelicOfOwls

  • Hey, I just wanted to remind about the RP we're in with lysis. Lysis said you didn't need to wait on him to post.

    Posted by Scotty Dawg

  • Oh, I see!!

Then what you said in the Lounge is absolutely true.

  • My idea for them not meeting up till on the moon

    Posted by Scotty Dawg

  • What do you think about that?

    Posted by Scotty Dawg

  • He's not really a bandit person. I think vigilante describes him well. So he could already be on the moon, and be chasing the bandits when they attack you. But then there's a problem, because Red would be using magic, and that would mess you up.
