  • 1. Great posting, great analysis, really like reading your capsule reviews!
    2. I got excited thinking about your take on Kubrick's The Shining and how he depicts Wendy because I've gotten into a lot of movie fights with people over it, but I checked and it's not on AFI's list. Oh well.

    • 1. Ah! I'm glad you think so, I have been enjoying this long-term project haha. I knew my take on A Clockwork Orange would probably not be the decidedly mainstream one, but it's the most recent film I've watched on the list and I was so steaming mad the rest of the day afterward, I just couldn't help myself. @_@

      2. I saw (and read) The Shining back in the beginning of high school when I was solidly in the "maybe we don't need feminism anymore and we're already equal" camp (ugh), so I've been interested in checking it out again especially after the King quote about it circulated a few years ago...it may not be on the list but I mayyy check it out again anyway, but I think I'm gonna give myself some time to cool off first lmao. There's a few films I want to watch to supplement this list (most notably I still want to get around to watching The Great Dictator) so it could still happen. ;)

    • As someone watching every theatrically released Disney movie (and then some), I can relate to the enjoyment long-term film-watching projects can bring. And the rage. And the boredom.

I've never been a huge fan of the movie adaptation of The Shining but I love the book. If/when you get around to rewatching it I'd be interested to hear your thoughts. Shelley Duvall is such a treasure and the stuff she's subjected to (on and off screen) in that movie is so sad. But I get sad whenever I think about Shelley Duvall these days.

    Posted by Aquamentus

    • Oh dang, I thought I responded to this!!!! Hey there!!! I am well, I hope things are well with you!!!

      Posted by Vynrah

    • Oh glad to hear haha. To be honest with you, i was a bit worried. I don't have the best memory so I thought we had some sort of falling out previous to my hiatus.

I am doing good as well. Gosh, I remember that it was almost 2 years ago, I joined Farore, posted in a gif thread, and was having crisis in my life because I was unemployed and was such a mess. Now I am employed and slightly less of a mess haha. The reason I bring this up was because I remember you PMed me after that trying to cheer me up and sharing a similar experience. Just a fun little memory I remember.

I am really glad to hear you are doing well! :P

      Posted by Aquamentus

    • Has it really been 2 years??? Oh my lord @_@
Definitely no falling out from my perspective! And I am glad to hear you're employed now!! That shit can be so massively awful :c

Glad to have you back on the site mang! :>

      Posted by Vynrah

    • Haha, yup, well in maybe 2 or 3 more months it will be 2 years. Just guesstimating.
Great to hear, I am dumb a lot of the times! It can really be awful, gosh, having no job sort takes a part of your soul away almost if that makes any sense.

Its good to be back on the site mang! :>

  • I found your facebook page!! I loooove it! Do you have an instagram as well?!

    • Ahhhhh omg I saw you liked some stuff and I was kinda embarrassed tbh hahaha
I do, but honestly it's a pretty inactive personal one now a days (beeupton), all of my artwork on that page and my website are old af now :c

but thank you!! it means a lot (like a TON) that you like any of it and it's really exciting to hear that some of my old stuff has held up over the past few years :']

      Posted by Vynrah

    • Hahaha of course! I love some of thise ideas so much, the men at work one was my fave, it could be a book title/cover!

  • Hey Vyn! Have you been watching the new season of The Man in the High Castle?

    Posted by Cosima

    • Not yet!! We're going to start the second season after new year's...was it good???

      Posted by Vynrah

    • I thought it was much better than the first season actually! There's a few loose ends, but overall I enjoyed the plot lines a lot more. The pacing is better as well. Joe Blake continues to be really boring to me though, haha. Let me know what you think when you watch it. :>

  • I see you are a mod for the writing section. I have some questions that maybe you can answer. How often can we update our story during the day? If I add more chapters will it merge with the previous post? Or will a new post be made?

    Posted by Midnayt

    • Hello there, glad to see you're diving into the Creativity section!

So first thing is first: Posts do not auto-merge. New posts in your thread, even if they're back-to-back by the same author in a short period of time, will all be separate posts. This can be a good thing though as readers in your thread will have an easy time finding what content is new since their last visit. You can edit your previous posts though and it's not a bad idea to have a portion of the first post link to your latest update or link out to your chapters if that's your style.

There is no steadfast rule about how often you can post updates to your story, but I'd avoid doing it much more than once a day unless you're really on a roll. Posting regularly in intervals makes it easy for others to remain engaged with your work over time without overwhelming them. That's just a guideline though.

If you have any more questions though, feel free to reach out!

      Posted by Vynrah

    • Thank you for your help, Vynrah. The reason I wanted to know was because I will be getting very busy in the upcoming months. I won't have much time to work on the story. So I am working on it as we speak, just trying to get ahead as much as I can.

You are right, sometimes it is best to post at least an update once a day, or every other day so as not to overwhelm readers with so many chapters. But in this case, I do need to update as often as I can before I do get extremely busy.

Anyhow, I will surely ask away if I need help with something.
