HELLO, MY DEAR PAGAN FRIEND!!
BLESSED BE!! )O( O->
Hi there, thank you
How are you doing?
1) You're most welcome, Moriquendi!!
2) Fine, ...&... yourself?!
I'm good! I have the Friday and Saturday off, so I have a long weekend now. I'm going to a birthday party with a rock theme tomorrow and a beer and whisky festival on Saturday^^
& we both turn 30 this year? Be the Merry to my Pippin please.
I'm actually turning 31 this year, but I do believe I'd be happy as a hobbit nonetheless! (A very tall one, but still!)
ah okay, "old man", happy to have ya aboard the Second Breakfast train. Obviously, as a very tall member, you'll require elevenses as well.
But of course! Though I'm not likely to grow any more.. except sideways!
In that line of thought, I came to think of this: images-wixmp-ed30a86b8c4ca8877…di88_d9x9qmj-fullview.jpg
Your outfits (especially her dress) are incredible. Every detail down to the length of the sword! Woof - color me impressed. My fangirl-ness of LoTR is majorily threatened due to your ability to embody the magic and enchantment of it in one photo. Thank you for sharing my husband and I would love to accompany you two on an adventure.
Hey you! So you like to read, eh? Who's your favorite author, and what's your favorite book?!?
I do! I'm reading Heroes by Joe Abercrombie at the moment. My favourite book would have to be the Lord of the Rings. I am a Tolkien geek, after all :p I am fond of many, but I usually read fantasy in some form or other. How about you?
I've read Tolkien too! And also C.S. Lewis! I kinda rank them together.
I love, love, love the following authors: Kurt Vonnegut, Miyuki Miyabi, Chuck Palahniuk, Donna Boyd, Stephen King, Hideyuki Kikuchi, and so many others!
I need more books!!!
I've read some of the Narnia books and I have some good childhood memories associated with them
I actually don't think I've heard of any of them except for Stephen King xD I want to get hold of Pet Sematary, by the way. I've been meaning to read that one for quite some time.
One of my other favourite authors is probably Scott Lynch, he writes very humorously with some dark humour thrown in as well. Suits me very well :p I also like Brandon Sanderson a lot (Mistborn and so on).
I'll look for them next time I'm at the library! I've heard Mistborn is really good.
I do believe there are a few other Sanderson fans here on this site as well^^
Hey how’s my favorite Viking?! Are you TRYING to make my day? If so it worked! Nominating the fitness thread AND me for stuffs?!
Hiya! Well, it never hurts to make someone happy I'm doing good, it's getting closer to my weekend off and I'm going to a rock concert on Saturday^^ How about you?
Nice that sounds awesome! We are supposed to get snow this weekend and things kind of shut down for snow around here so.. gathering supplies and hunkering down haha!
Hah, best of luck to you :p We haven't had much snow here this year, it's been quite mild, usually staying around freezing point. It's supposed to get colder next week, though, so we'll see :p
I think its cool how you're a shoemaker. That's such a unique job!
Thank you Yeah, there aren't that many around :p
Hey, my dear Heathen buddy!!
How are you doing, dear friend?!
HAPPY EARLY YULE/WINTER SOLSTICE/CHRISTMAS, BUDDY!!
SIDE-NOTE: The Master Sword Emoticon is because LINK IS AN ELF, JUST SO THERE'S NO CONFUSION!!
Hi there! I hope you'll have a good holiday as well
May the Yule goats be with you!
I'm well! I'm rather ready for being done with work for this year
GLAD TO HEAR THAT, DEAR FRIEND!!
So I love when I get 5 notifications and they are ALL from YOU! Bahahaha
our next movie: The Princess Swap!
Sounds about right to me! *laughs* It shall be checked out soon^^
(I loved your Pikachu gifs, by the way xD)
Happy belated birthday! Hope your next days are awesome!
Thank you^^ No back pains yet!
Back pain is the worst. Let's hope it doesn't come to that!
Happy Birthday friend
Thank you I hope you're also doing well.
hope all is well where you are xo
Yes, I am well. Everything is in order to take over the apartment I bought on the 1st of August. We're spending a lot of time dividing all our things now. Otherwise, we're going to a big viking market next week I hope you're also doing well.
Nodded GL with the move How are you feeling these days?
As for me, I'm getting used to new meds, and that's going better than I hoped haha. I love my cat and my sister is super supportive So it's slow, but it's progress
I'm glad to hear that
I'm feeling quite good, actually. I feel about ready for a new adventure. Both my wife and I have handled everything as smoothly as possible, so I'm quite encouraged by our future as friends because of that. We're still not sure about the furbeast, for now, though. It would be a better area for her to continue living with my wife, as long as she doesn't move anywhere. But for the cat itself (company and care), it would probably be better for it to come with me. But it spends most of its time outdoors, so.. We shall see.
I'm happy to hear that! Brandon and I are on really good terms with each other. It can be hard some days def, but I've a friend for life. I hope that's the case for you and her too And as for the kitty, that's tough. I had to leave my cat Binks in the US. I would've taken him with me tbh but he's so old, and can't even stand a 5 min car ride. Don't think he would've liked traveling to the other side of the world for 26 hours D: I miss him every day, but it was for the best for him to stay with Brandon. I hope your kitty issues go smoothly
Good Yeah, I believe we'll be friends for life as well. She's in the social circles I intend to keep as well, of course.
At least the cat isn't far away. I think she'll stay with her for now and we'll see how it goes. I'll need to submit an application to have the cat there anyway. I think it may be for the best, but we'll see what the cat thinks :p
It isn't further than 25 minutes by car in my case, at least.
I may or may not have stalked your wall, but I want to say that the mosquitoes are massive in Alaska too. Texans always try to claim the biggest everything but they’re dead wrong. I felt a mosquito take steps in my hair earlier this year.
More stalking: I’m not a big fan of our capital either :p
Haha^^ I can imagine Alaska being similar in that regard as well. I really want to go there one day, it looks amazing.
I'm not surprised :p It's actually more or less Eastern Norway as a whole. In many ways it feels like a very different kind of people. It probably seems strange due to it being small country, but it has traditionally been rather divided because of all the mountains. That's the reason for all the different dialects we have as well. I certainly don't envy people learning "Norwegian" and then going anywhere except the capital and expecting to understand us xD
Sorry to hear your news, I'm sure it must be a tough time for you.
Thank you I've had some time to adjust and get used to it, so I'm doing fairly well.
I've never been one to have a travel bug, but your pictures are always a delight. I think the beautiful landscape along with your own modest personality makes me think it's an appealing place to live. What's your town like if you don't mind me asking?
I currently live in a sparsely populated valley, so that's very peaceful. I'll be moving within the month, though. The closest city is Bergen, that's the second largest in Norway. To me, it feels more like a large town rather than a small city, so that's in its favor in my book. I'm not a fan of our capital. The nature is often very beautiful and helps to strengthen the long traditions of hiking most families have. People themselves are usually more on the reserved side of things. Norway is expensive, though, so it's not always the easiest country for tourists. But it tends to be worth it, I believe
I love the convenience of larger cities, but I certainly do prefer being in the countryside with less people and more room to enjoy the land freely. Not that you shouldn't be friendly with the neighbors one does see! I could get used to a reserved population though. There's nice people around my current community, but it also seems like everyone runs around in crisis mode making big problems out of minor things lol. It's good to be around people that know how to slow down and enjoy life. My dad worked in the North Sea for a time. He spent most of his time on the oil wells offshore, but he had nothing but good things to say about Norway itself.
Sorry to hear you're going through a rough time. You seem like you're handling it pretty well and better than most. However, if you ever feel like you're going crazy, feel free to hit me up bud.
Mm, I'm certainly more of a countryside person as well. The apartment I've bought is close to civilization, but it also has forested areas right outside. I'll be able to walk to work, which is also a very nice addition.
Heh, I can see what you mean about crisis mode. That does become rather tedious :p
Ah, cool! I have some family who worked (or works) in the North Sea as well. I'm glad to hear that he had a positive view of us^^
Thank you, it's highly appreciated. Yeah, I'm doing alright. It's sad, of course, but we're both handling everything in a sensible way, so there aren't really any problems. It will be strange living on my own, but I am looking forward to it as well.
The sass is not appreciated
Yuru Camp is basically an anime where adorable anime high school girls similar to Keion! or Lucky Star go camping and made traditional Japanese dishes. It is a fantastic show.
Hehe, sounds adorable Thank you. Encouragement of Climb is about a small group of school girls who discover the love for hiking. Also while being somewhat informative We mainly clicked on it because we liked the art style. It's been quite some time since we saw an anime before that, and after it, for that matter :p
Yuru Camp seems a bit like Encouragement of Climb, though camping is admittedly a less rigorous hobby compared to hiking, but I'm definitely into hiking, and would do that first over camping, or hiking followed by camping, since I've done off-the-grid style camping before. There's a lot of hobby anime out there, though not all of them are bangers.
I've told my wife about it, perhaps we'll get to see it as well^^ Camping is fun as well. We've actually bought a big "ticket to the moon" hammock that we're going to try this summer. Along with mosquito net and everything. I'm looking forward to that
Ah yes I remember mosquitos. You have mosquitos in Scandinavia?
I've slept out on the beach with only a tarp and sleeping bag, using the sand itself as cushioning, and my clothing as a pillow. Lol interesting times.
That we do. Less insects in general than in warmer climates, but they're certainly present in summer. Strangely enough, the mosquitos are largest in Northern Norway :p
Aw, that sounds nice^^
THat last picture in the scrapbook is stunning
Thank you^^ It's from a small bridge, five minutes into the forest path right by where I live.
It looks like such a peaceful place to be
Do you know Danish, since you speak to danes recently? Makemake wau e loaʻa iāʻoe ka lā maikaʻi, nā mea maikaʻi loa (hawaiian langauge, said have nice day etc)
Now that is certainly different! Very exotic and fascinating to me^^
I have no trouble understanding Danish, usually. Nor Swedish, for that matter. I can usually understand Icelandic as well, but they can be harder :p Scandinavian speakers usually understand the others for the most part, I think.
I would agree with that. It's a shared language between speakers after all. Yeah. I am of some Hawaiian descent, so thought, I'd surprise you! (It a mostly vowel language)
It's separate languages, but they are very close. Our imported Dane has been living in Norway for many years, though, so he doesn't speak quite "Danish" with us. But it still stands
"Ha en fin dag" would be "have a nice day" in Norwegian.
Hmmmm. That's good you still consider him alongside you.
One thing I do know about Scandinavians, is the sense of humour is splendid they have!
You can share a joke and they get it ya know? It's a pleasant feeling.
It's boiling here. I don't have air conditioning, so I deal somehow lol
That might be
Ah, the weather is warm? Here it's around freezing point and it varies every other day with snow or rain. Not the most pleasant time :p
Echoing Winnie -- Those snow pictures are breathtaking. Damn it she even used the word breathtaking.
Scratch that then. They're stunning x.x
Haha, thank you^^ The blue hour can be quite spectacular, if you're lucky
Your photos are the best Mori--your shots in the snowy woods are breathtaking!
Thank you^^ It's more or less right outside during twilight.
Had a little trouble understanding if you were talking about your hamstrings or something else. Regardless, that exrx.net has a body map where you can click the muscle and look up stretches.
Here's hamstring stretches
Body Map. It's technically NSFW though it's an educational diagram. (You will see a cartoon penis when you click this)
Thank you, that is very helpful
Any specific hamstring stretches you're fond of, by the way? I've tried before, but I've probably not been consistent enough to have a lasting effect.
I can't really tell you one thing is better than the other. A basic bending over and touching your toes, then splitting your legs and going to each side is what I prefer. If I have a barbell and an elevated surface, I like holding a barbell with light weights and just do a "dead hang".
You could also change the angle of your knee when you touch your toes. Do one with straight legs, and then a slight bend just enough to feel a deeper stretch.
Personally, I'd just experiment with it and if you feel a particular tightness in the way you do something, do that stretch. You may have a better stretch sitting vs standing, etc etc.
Excellent. Then I have something to try out Thank you very much^^
Hey man, how’s everything been? I saw your post about -15C, I bet your hands were happy! I miss chopping wood, my dad still has an old wood stove and it’s gloriously warm. I recall loading up a bit too much oak one winter night and having the windows open because it was so hot lol.
I just got back to Alaska a couple days ago, it’s been pretty chilly here as well, though virtually zero wind so that’s nice. -11F today, but without the wind it’s not too “bitey”
I've been quite well! Had a written exam yesterday as part of getting my diploma as a shoemaker. Haha :p Yes, it actually felt nice enough to saw wood in that setting. The stars were up and everything (even though it was like 17:30) when I went out to do it. Yeah, it can be a bit challenging to get the right temperature that way *laughs*
I had a mixture of oak, pine and spruce, by the way. It's cleared trees from the property here.
Zero wind really helps, that's certainly true. Welcome to the cold
These short days are messing with me lol. My sleep is all screwed up. Of course, traveling ~12 hours against time zones will do that to you xD
Thank you for the warm welcome! There isn’t much wind here so the cold isn’t as bad as I expected...yet. Im surprised you didn’t cut down ALL THE SPRUCE haha. We rarely burned conifers (except for outdoor fires). Cherry, ash, and maple grew abundantly and we were very fortunate to live a bit out of the way lol.
Haha, yes. That is to be expected :p Hopefully you'll get around again to a normal sleep schedule again soon
I'm glad It's gotten a bit milder again here, though it will get colder again during the week. Yes, burn all the spruce :p Except for when we decorate it with nice things and then burn it afterwards *nods* I imagine cherry trees smelling nice.
MAKE ME YOUR BUTTERBEER DRINK PLEASE AND THANK YOU
OMG I love your pictures you posted today! That nightlife place looked awesome and that absinthe looked like something outta HP
Thank you It was very crowded in the evenings, especially with tourists, but it was worth seeing. I love absinthe^^ That's actually the way you're supposed to do it (though without the dry ice).
Where did you get that leather jacket? I must know
I got it in Germany, actually. I think it might be American or Canadian, though I couldn't find anything about it at the moment. "Wilderness Lodge, quality leather, trapper valley" and a wolf head is on the inside
It's the best one I've had.
I looked it up right after I saw this message and it appears to be shut down.
Aw.. perhaps that was why it was on sale when I got it. I've had it for a few years now.
How was your trip?!
Hi^^ It was amazing. It was great to be able to live with a local and get shown around, with hand-picked things to try. Particularly since he's very interested and food and drink :p It was a different country, though. Not all things work as well as we're used to with corruption and way of government. It was very interesting to see, though.
I'm glad! Just saw your post about drinking. What was your favorite wine you tried? And huh, never pegged Hungary for having tons of corruption, but then again, I'm in America.
Surprisingly enough, it was actually a white wine. I've never been particularly find of those, but this one was amazing. I'll try to find out what the grape name was (So many impressions :p) I'll probably need to continue with the other part at a later time, since I'm off to work soon. But it was allied with the Soviet until that fell, and since then the "history" has been altered more and more. I'll continue later :p
Haha yeah! Let me know! I'm the same, I'm usually a red wine person myself.
I think I'll move this to "conversation" instead, if that's alright Wall of text incoming :p
American wine? You must have been drunk before you even bought it!
Also Happy Birthday Lars!
I know! In my defense, it was my wife who bought it :p If you hadn't had any other wine before, it was quite good, actually. But we had a milder-tasting one before once, and that was not an experience I want again.
Happy birthday friend!
Thank you very much
Happy late birthday, bud! I'm jealous of that hike. There's not many nice hills my way without a decent road trip
Thank you! It's still today, actually. 20th
