Hiya I just have to say that I love how you're keeping the video game thread active. It's a great question this time that I really look forward to answering and to seeing other answers^^

if you have suggestions for future questions i would love to hear them!
I shall inform you if I think of a good one
Holden! How are you?
I'm good! You?
I'm just peachy, thanks! It's been a kerjillion years since we last spoke!
Yeah, it's really nice to see you posting again! What have you been up to?
I've been up to college, mostly! I graduated high school in 2013, so it feels like I've been in college forever, but at least I am on track to graduate a year from now. How about you? How's your life going?
I don't wanna say "Happy late birthday" because you probably ate Hawaiian pizza that day.
But happy (very) late birthday :> I hope things have been great with u.
thank you i had a cheese pizza the night before but no pizza the day of, so don't be shy haha
hey, pst, i made a thread for 2018 music a few weeks back ^^
welp. thanks for letting me know.
also, that towkio album is surprisingly really good!
oh, you've listened to it?
i'd never heard of him before i picked it up, but maaaan i loved it. there's just so much about it. i've listened about 5 or 6 times already and i still feel like it's not enough
yeah, i've been looking forward to it for awhile! his 2014 mixtape wav theory was my favorite album that year. it's like proto WWW, so check it out!
he came up in the chicago rap scene along with others like chance the rapper, vic mensa, joey purp, kami, etc (that whole save money crew basically)
ah yeah that explains the vic mensa appearance on this album then! ill be sure to give the mixtape a listen, then, i should have some free time in the gym to give it a go
cool, let me know what you think! in the mean time:
Hey happy birthday!
thank you! :')
Ahhhh Happy birthday Holden! Hope you have a wonderful day :>
thank you <333
Just wanted to pop in and say that I absolutely adore your avatar. ^^
(your signature as well - truer words have never been spoken)
Thank you ^^
we made a good team~
hope you are doing A++ terrific
i am doing okay. enjoying/stressing about post-grad life. tryna find a job rn. hopefully soon!
is january busy for y'all?
also, i want to hear about your gwent build and experiences!! i'm thinking about getting back into it when the singleplayer content comes out.
Ahh, try to enjoy it more than stress!! sending good vibes, hopefully something great pans out soon.
and mostly no, thankfully. if I had to endure another month at nov/dec-level busyness I was not gonna make it to feb @_@
and yesssss gwent! before the big update I was running a lock-heavy damage Northern Realms Radovid deck and a revive-heavy Skellige King Bran deck...but the update moved the meta a lot.
I'm now running a damage/buff focused Northern Realms Henselt deck and a damage/buff focused Skellige Harald deck with lots of tuirseach clan haha. Trying to slowly branch into other factions as there are a lot more incentives to play as or at least occasionally field a deck from every faction now, but it's still tough with my card base atm.
Nilfgaard is still the scourge of the earth. Tons of people still netdeck Nilfgaard spy craziness and now there are an abundance of Scoia'tael special/weater/spell decks which are not a lot of fun to play against but can be easy to beat (they play almost no numbers). They've added a number of more "random" and deck-build-effecting cards which has been interesting. There's a good amount of new leader cards, but they can't get that single-player content out soon enough! I play my dailies and they put out a few holiday events (brewfest, halloween, xmas-time) which have been great, but I need something different.
also I am clearly starved for a gwent conversation companion haha
Oh, interesting! Admittedly my Gwent knowledge is really limited haha. It's probably my favorite TCG game rn though and I'm excited to get back into it! I just checked my deck, and... my level got reset I guess! Been awhile, I suppose. I think I was using a Northern Realms deck though.
I am excited to find someone else who plays!! I will need that as I get back into it haha. I keep bugging Keith to get into Gwent but he's stuck on that Hearthstone train, which I just didn't find as long lasting with me.
I am here for you
So I have been looking into some "different" type of music recently. I found two groups that are good. If you want to connect with your roots, Mashour' Leila isn't so bad, even if you can't understand all of it.
I wasn't the biggest fan with Mashour' Leila but I think you would maybe dig it? open.spotify.com/artist/2RIrl9cApI8HwM6aF4Jt5m
As for the one I actually enjoyed, Alsarah and The Nubatones open.spotify.com/artist/7xGVP8NTuOKRVkNMl2fv7n. I really enjoyed it, its different from the conventional mainstream that occurs over there if you get what I mean. I am sure you, your mom, your dad, perhaps another family member played music of that place and it "all sounded the same" or followed a romantic theme for most of them. (Don't listen to any of the rmeixes of Alsarah and The Nubatones!)
I just feel you might be interested in them possibly, if you want to give them a try or whatever.
Ooo thank you so much for these recommendations! I will check them out later today after class.
I actually already listen to Mashrou' Leila and understand a fair bit of their lyrics. I have actually been trying to listen to more Lebanese and Arabic musicians, so your recommendations are really appreciated.
I have recently been listening to Fairuz as I study. It's very comforting music, but I definitely get what you mean when you say that kind of style is very tired and "romantic" haha
Hello, I always feel sooooo overwhelmed whenever I check this site out again, ha. Just scrolling through my profile and saw we talked a lot xD btw, is there a way to "view conversation" in "wall posts" or whatever? i remember having this feature back then...
I guess the new way is "replying", ahhh
hey what's up man!!!!! it's so nice to hear from you. unfortunately old messages are a huge pain to read on the new forum software haha
how have you been?
Ha, yeah! Kinda surreal lurking back to 2008 and stuff in here, haha. I really like seeing my sense of humor evolve haha.
Doing great! Getting ready for spending the rest of the day in bed, haha. And you?
i'm good! busy week/end. i have an exam on wednesday, and then just general school work. in my last semester at uni atm

Hey Holden! What did you think of Darksiders? I was thinking of picking it up but I'm torn about whether I'll like it or not.
I am enjoying it, it just took an hour or two to click! It's actually formatted a lot like a Zelda game, with dungeons and puzzle solving, but the combat is more hack and slash, like God of War. Both of these parts individually are a lot of fun, but I definitely prefer the dungeons and puzzles. Combat initiates when you enter a zone, then what happens is barriers appear and you end up fighting 2-3 waves of enemies. It's kind of tedious and I think the game would have been a lot better if the enemies were more integrated into the level design.
I think the game goes on sale pretty cheap? Like $5? I'd say that's a good price for it. I feel like overall it can be rough around the edges here and there, but if I didn't like it I wouldn't be as far into the game as I am right now.
Edit: Oh, I should mention this. The story itself is okay. A little too self-serious at times but it pushes things ahead well.
Yeah for $5-$10 I may as well get it. I've thought about it a lot and it's like why not. I did hear it was very difficult though--what do you think of the difficulty? For reference I think Shovel Knight was crazy hard and I died a million times haha--BUT I still ended up beating it.
Having played things like Dark Souls and Monster Hunter, I didn't find the combat too hard (I was playing on normal though). You just gotta make sure to dodge and watch for enemy tells. That said, I'm still really reckless haha. My main complaint is that enemies hit way too hard in the late game and it's hard to find health. I've only died like twice though, so it's definitely doable. They're not similar at all, but if you can get through Shovel Knight (which I love) then you can get through this.
Hey Holden, here is a link to my housemate's art blog.
awesome, thank you! i am actually seeing lots of collage elements here, too. really into it!
I'm glad you like it man!
We often screenshot the most unobtrusive yet strange snippets of films and the internet, then he uses that to make something utterly unidentifiable from the original source.
