  • Happy Birthday!

  • You remind me of someone. But I don't know who.

  • Hi, welcome back. I used to be >:3 and then Loki, then Dave.... the lady who was in Farore back when you were active in that one motivation thread. What happened when you were away? So many, Brett. Glad you're back!

    Posted by N64

    • Hey, thanks for reaching out.

What happened when I was away? Life happened I guess. I just got busy with my university classes and finishing up to graduate. On top of that, my volunteering for organizations kept me busy week after week. As well, I met my girlfriend who I've been with for almost 3 years now. I didn't really make an effort to come on here just with other things going on with myself.

      Posted by Brett

    • You mean as in the forums or you mean life in general?

      Posted by N64

    • Didn't really make an effort to come on here as in ZU, as other things in my life just took the forefront and occupied me.

      Posted by Brett

    • I understand, same here. Anyway I came back to ZU after my divorce, hoping that I wouldn't mull over matters irl. Back in the past, things were happier especially when I was active in ZU.

      Posted by N64

    • Oh ok I understand. Yeah, I was actually the polar opposite. Long story short I was actually depressed for quite some time. I was just going through the motions of life, and I really felt as though I did not have any meaning or purpose to fulfill, and was just merely existing. So I had to let go of old habits (such as coming on here a lot) and really explore who I am and what I want to do with myself, what makes me happy, etc. And once I went through those tough questions and decided to commit to something much greater than myself, I came full circle and decided to come back here after realizing I had made an impact on a child where he and I shared the same interest in the Zelda games. And he made the metaphor saying "Thank you Brett, you helped me find my master sword!"

And that really hit me in the sweet spot.

      And here I am.

  • No one ever truly leaves ZU. They always come back, as they say. haha
    Welcome back!

Posted by Amber The Gay Fox

  • Hey there! Nice to meet you :) And welcome back to ZU! I've been here a little over a year now. I just read your post in the community announcement thread, it sounds like you've been doing some really awesome stuff with your life. I can echo what DMR said below, you're an inspiration and the world needs more people like you.
You'll probably see me in the health and fitness thread from time to time. Cool to know that you're the one who originally started it. From being unfit and overweight for most of my life, my fitness has come a long way in the last couple of years, and I'm now determined to keep it up.
    See you around :)

    Posted by Skywing

    • Appreciate the message! I’ll definitely see you around!

      Posted by Brett

  • Hey man. I know we haven't ever spoken but I just saw your post in the Community Announcement thread and I just wanted to come and say thank you.

The world absolutely needs more people like you and knowing you are out there doing what you are doing is an inspiration in itself.

Just reading that post has motivated me to pick up my life and begin thinking about giving it an overhaul.

So thank you for being you. I'm proud to be Canadian knowing I can associate that with a fellow Canadian like yourself.

    • Thanks my man. Really means a lot. Yeah I've been through huge changes with myself over the years and finally, I've "woken up" and it feels great. And I'm glad I gave you the boost that you needed, not that it was intended.

If you want to connect, I highly encourage you going into the Health and Fitness Thread (if that kinda thing is up your alley). If not, I'm here to chat and just simply chat and get to know you more and connect.

      Posted by Brett

    • I'm subscribed to the Health and Fitness thread already so I'm watching those posts as well.

Always glad to have another person to chat to!

    Posted by Winnie

    • Ah hey thanks! Just checked this now! Birthday was good and thank you so much!

      Posted by Brett

  • Hey I just saw your post in Motivation! How has school/work/volunteering been?! Also, I was promoted to Din Mod on Saturday!

    Posted by Winnie

    • Hey Winnie how are you doing? School is going well... first exam is today so been prepping for that. I've been busy juggling everything on my own but that's life. Overall everything is going good! And congrats on the promotion that's great news! How is everything else with you going?

      Posted by Spidey

    • Pretty good! Crazy busy at work but that's the way I like it! And I'm trying to work out more, but that's always ongoing haha

      Posted by Winnie

    • What is it you do for work again Winnie? And kudos for exercising more. I've only been able to get out like 3 times a week, but I make those 3 count to the max.

      Posted by Spidey

  • I thought you were done with school Spidey!

    Posted by Winnie

    • Eh! Ah, what? Haha. Well, I'm hoping this will be my last year of studies while I work on my application for the RCMP. I'm hoping for admittance to Regina next fall. But if not I'll continue going for a diploma and keep at it. So we'll see how it goes.

      Posted by Spidey

    • That's awesome!

      Posted by Winnie

  • Hi Brett. Wondering about zeldauniverse.net/forums/index…ostID=4534557#post4534557 'coz I recalled that you did help me a few years ago via PM. I forgot what field of study did you learn... is it Sport Science or Psychology?

    Posted by N64

    • Hey Dave. That thread appears to be long gone inactive haha! And, I'll be fully honest, but three years ago I don't quite recall what I did, but thank you for reaching out to me. I was originally studying both fields yes; however, my life has taken a turn of events now as I am pursuing in a service field for my country. How are you doing though? How've you been?

      Posted by Spidey

    • Is that service field you are doing voluntarily, Brett?

      Posted by N64

    • No it won't be. I am on the process for applying for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. It is something that I want to aspire to be, as I see myself most fitted being in a role of law enforcement and keeping civilians and communities safe.

      Posted by Spidey

  • Hey buddy! How's is going? :)

  • Happy Mid-Year Fest, Spidey. ^_^

    Posted by N64

    • Enlighten me? Haha what is this Mid-Year Fest you speak of?

      Posted by Spidey

    • Many of them. Depending on your calendar, Spidey. XD

    • I feel like I'm playing a gameshow where I need to pick the right answer. hahaha

  • So excited for you Spidey! The Canadian Military does so much great work, looking forward to hearing about your adventures. Well, the ones you can share anyway!

    Posted by Winnie87

    • Thank you for your support Winnie! I believe this is something I truly need to fulfill for myself to have a satisfied and fulfilled life. I sure hope so at least!

      Posted by Spidey

  • Dropping in to let you know that book you recommended- Life Is What You Make It by Peter Buffet - Is super good! I'm really enjoying it!

    Posted by Bombchu Girl

    • Good! I'm glad you like it. I took a lot out of that book and finished it last week. Smaller read, but very insightful. I'm actually starting up a new read right now, one from Eckhart Tolle called A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life's Purpose.
