Also, is it important to you that items be displayed as individual objects like they were in past Zelda games, or would you mind if they showed up as runes/abilities tied to a central item like the Sheikah Slate?
Slingshot. Probably an unpopular opinion. Butttt... honestly hitting stuff with it was oddly satisfying to me.
Hookshot or longshot or claw shot, whatever the shots are, I like those.
Bring back dat fishin' rod, boi.
Hookshot! I would have been perfect for breath of the wild

Hey guys, I'm commandeering this thread because this exact topic was discussed on the most recent ZU Cast. Thank you for posting such a great thread @Zero_Origin
The items I most would like to see return are mostly from A Link to the Past because it had a bunch of interesting items that were one offs.
I would love to see Bombos, Ether and Quake. It would be so interesting to see these items in a 3D game and how they would transfer over to a different style of game. I would like to see the Book of Mudora make a return and have it be an item to accessed blocked areas from earlier in the game as well as a means to read messages on walls or books to expand the lore. The magic cape which would add a welcome stealth element to a future Zelda game. And finally the good bee from the fairy statue near where the ice rod is found. The good bee is the best companion from any Zelda game and deserves to return.
No problem, and what uncanny timing between the podcast and this thread!
I like the idea of having the medallions come back in some way, maybe as the next game's version of champion powers. Something like the book of Murdora would be really awesome as well; functioning as a way to read ancient languages which provide clues about where to go or what to do in certain areas. The magic cape seems interesting as well, but possibly op compared to the rest of the stealth mechanic, depending on how they handle it.
As for those that want the hookshot/clawshot to return, as cool as that would be I don't know how likely it is. It was actually considered for BotW but was cut due to making climbing obsolete.
Maybe if they made it so that the hookshot couldn't be used on rock, but maybe on softer surfaces like wood (for instance, trees as targets) then it could co-exist with the climbing mechanic. At the very least, I'd settle for gloves that let you climb during the rain.
