I've heard rumors of Nemesis being next one in the pipeline, which is not much of a stretch obviously. While it is the first RE I owned (but not the first I played, I played them in order luckily), I have to say it is not one of my favorites, however the remake will easily adress my concerns. Also, Mercenaries was hella fun in it, hope they keep it.

I have a really hard time not preordering RE2make, I really want a physical copy, but I can't find one in UK for reasonable price*, what the hell.

They are actually underrated, except for 4 and 5. I started playing them again this year. First started with REmake and finished it 3 times, did a no save speedrun. Then I moved on to the ones I haven't played yet, RE6 is super underrated despite how ridiculously over the top it is. 7 was fun too. Now I need to wait for RECodeVeronicaMake and finish RE0 and I have nothing left. I have even finished both Umbrella Chronicles on Wii, which were surprisingly good and offered some nice extra back story, too. Also Survivor but that one was just sad.

But yes, I am glad to be back. I did love 4 as a standalone game, but wasn't too happy of it as a RE. Then 5, although it had some sections that felt more RE (like the lab), it was a bit too over the top, and I wasn't too fond of the co-op thing. Then I played the first Revelations which was kind of meh to be honest. Both Revelations games were just super flat to me, not terrible but just extremely mediocre. Then 6 came out and I didn't even give it a chance.

I think my expectations so low for it that I think I didn't give it any credit when in fact it was quite good despite not being my kind of RE. And it was so over the top that honestly it was fun in a whole new way, a very B movie way, but they just no longer make this type of B movie, or if they do they don't take it seriously so it isn't fun.

I'm not sure if this makes any sense. I am going to bed now.

It's a terrible game that's fun if you turn your brain off a bit. I get it. Haha.

It's not even terrible tbh, the gameplay is really good. Just a bit too over the top for Resident Evil, but it is good for what it is!

I'm going to be late getting it, because I'm saving up for electrolysis. SAD!

The controls and the gameplay aren’t as tight as 5. The inventory management (for me) is worse. The story is so messy.

From a story/plot department I agree that it's like an 80's B-movie that is so bad it's good, or just so over the top that you can't possibly take it seriously. However, I think the gameplay itself though is not bad at all, and fits that silliness of the story very well. Indeed not as tight as 4/5 but it's pretty good. Like, even compared to some modern games from 2018, it has oomph and feedback (all Capcom games do to be fair); especially punching zombies in the face as Chris. If there's something I hated it's trying picking up the detachable hands from those annoying late-game regenerating monsters. It felt inconsistent and clunky. Other than that it was a-OK. It's not a masterpiece of game design or anything, but it kept me hooked. I mean, I could nitpick all day to be honest if I wanted to, there's minor flaws everywhere, and also not a huge fan of RE with a companion next to me at all times, and the gate puzzles that come with that, but it is rather enjoyable in the end!

I think I actually liked it more than RE7... but maybe because I hated Mia and her buggy hair

That music when you beat the Jake campaign... dear god. Haha.

I just find it so strange how something that was as tight and perfect as the aiming and shooting in RE5 took such a step back. It’s still good, but RE5 was perfect. It’s just confusing. Haha.

I think they tried to make it more fast paced and that's how they kinda lost the balance. What surprised me the most was the amount of content in the game though. I think that's what bit them in the ass in the end, maybe the game was a bit too ambitious. But it was okay still, don't regret playing it at all!

Its unquestionably the biggest game in the franchise by a pretty wide margin. At he very least, you get a lot of content for the price. Haha.

Side note: I’ve now played the REmake 2 demo 3 times. This wait is killing me.

I actually prefer the all-directions camera adjustment in RE 6. But it's too bad, I didn't care for Chris/Pier and Sherry/Jake's story line, so much that I didn't care to finish the game. I ended up selling the game in the end.

Reviews are in and looks like the game is everything we were hoping it to be. Can't wait for Friday, preorder set!
