As a GM, I have some questions:

Do we have to get our games approved anymore?
If we did and had a setup that potentially could have different sizes, would we have to get them all approved?
How many people would be interested in playing a Mafia game this close to the holidays once this game ends?
Is there a period of time we have to wait after the current game ends to vote and put it up, because this close to the holidays I really don’t think waiting is a good idea unless we’re just skipping over it completely until the holidays are over. We won’t get many players if we wait too long.

Nothing's changed about what we are doing compared to when you were last here. There's no approval process. You can submit whenever. People vote on games three days after the last game ends. The player pool is significantly smaller than it used to be so unless you want to advertise to half the site right now running a game larger than 14 probably isn't feasible.

Well, my current game is sixteen at smallest, but if necessary, if we don’t meet player requirement, I can whittle it down even more. Anyway, @Lady Sunshine, I just need to talk it over with a friend to see if he’s planning to Co-GM or spectate and then I’ll be submitting one soon.

Interesting fact -- I posted Mafia 1 over 5 years ago and you've all been playing a continuous stream since then. We rattled up about 20 editions when it was the main entertainment on the whole site and then it got smaller, ya'll stopped counting -- but you're still playing nonetheless. Mine wasn't the first ever Mafia on ZU but it had been the first in ages, it had a busy hub thread for outreach, and it set the style/some of the norms for how Mafia gets played here. Once I'd posted it the sequence of games never stopped because there wad a great buzz. I wonder how many 2013/2014 players are still here? Mafia used to keep me very entertained at that time in my life and its success went against the grain for how vbulletin boards/the website in general was going.

The best Mafia -- Ace Attorney Mafia (I think everything I do is the best) -- I believe happened in 2015. It was the first anonymous mafia with sock puppet accounts, which I had to lobby for. I'm not sure it's possible to read anymore but it was totally fire -- really dirty and smart. The Discworld mafia was fantastic fun, as was Foo's first Mafia (3?) where I was the Godfather and I got to the end without any teammates. And then ones that I got stiffed in but I remember watching: Harry Potter, the Legend of Zelda one, and the Paper Mario one. There was one in 2016 which was awesome but I forgot the name.

Depending on how many sign up, the game can be made larger, but 16 is to be expected.

If the proper number of players don’t show up within a reasonable amount of time, I may be forced to make it a bit smaller (e.g., 14 players), but I would rather avoid this if possible as it will require even more major alterations to the setup in regards to roles.

Description:

Despite the seemingly best efforts of Yokohama’s most well-known criminal organization, Dazai Osamu has yet again failed to die. Waking up in a strange place, he finds that an unlikely ally has taken him in and nursed him back to health. In return for joining a small but highly intelligent team of geniuses in a rather curious and foreboding cause, Dazai finally finds access to an ability that grants him the power to revive all those he knew who were lost, thus reversing the effects of the great conflict that occurred over a year ago.

But all is not well; those who were lost awake to find the city they knew so well to be covered in a thick and mysterious fog, with Dazai now nowhere to be found, and their own special abilities separated from their bodies and trying to kill them.

What will become of our protagonists? Have they revived only to fall once again, or will they this time survive and come together despite their differences to save their homeland...and maybe even the world?

*I have two unique roles in here which I felt might bump it up to 4/5, and although there is little misinformation in this game on the part of the GM, I chose to still put it up to 4.5/5 just to be on the safe side, as 5/5 would, in my opinion, be far too high of an overstatement. Therefore, just be aware to take the 4.5/5 rating with a small grain of salt simply because it may actually only be considered a 4/5 Bastard game to most.

Yeah it’s been quieter here lately but Mafia games are still going. A lot of the Mafia players from back then are still around but not actively playing

Usually the scenario is just for flavor. In fact every game I've seen posted here has been that way so you can most likely join it despite knowing nothing about the anime.

Of course you can. ^-^ Very few people on this site know the show (it was originally a manga, adapted into an amazing anime, and has its own novels, mobile game, OVA, and movie as well) sadly, and everyone still loved the game. Flavor is just flavor and at the end of the day, it’s still a regular Mafia game.

My game was a bit an anomaly regarding this; normal procedure is to vote between the options in this thread, then the winner posts their hub thread with the extra details. In most cases where there is only one thing to vote for, it requires a certain proportion of the intended game size in votes. (My game was different because I could have as little as three people and still have a functional game, albeit a short one)

A Community Central mod will announce when we can begin voting, if it’s as it was back when I last submitted a game. It used to be three days after the last game ended that we would begin voting for the next, but if I’m not mistaken, it’s already been long past that mark by now, so I’m quite curious as to why this thread is still so dead.
