Either I was looking for news on the newest Zelda game of the time (woulda been that early Skyward Sword art) or I was looking for some MP3 downloads. I started joining forums in general around '09-'10 so what the hey with this one. Nothin' much more to it.
I joined in 2007 due to... I think it was linked to on Zelda Wiki. I think it was Hylian Dan's Stone Tower theory? Anyway, I clicked the link, liked it, decided to join, and ZU has been stuck with me ever since.
It was in April 2004, so I guess it was WW related, although I just loved Zelda in general and was happy to find a place of like minded individuals. I'm from a super small town. My graduating class back in High School was only 52 kids. During my time in middle and high school I was the only Zelda, or even Nintendo, fan that I knew. Things are way different for me now since I've mostly grown up, and have a completely different group of friends from my time at Uni, but like I said, back then I didn't have anybody to talk Zelda with.
I remember being hesitant to wanting to join the forums straight up because, like, a year prior I tried joining some Mario forum thing but couldn't figure it out, and got frustrated. Glad I figured it out for when I joined here.
ZU gave me a lot of happiness for years. I met some of my favorite people through here. Even though I basically only show up in short spurts now, and still really only post in Landwars related threads, I don't think i can ever stop logging into the site and checking out the forums.
I first started visiting Zelda fansites regularly for news and speculation in the runup to Skyward Sword. I kind of stopped once the hype around SS had died down and started again when BotW hype began. A couple of other major fansites were my usual stopping points rather than ZU, but I felt that the comments sections were starting to get a bit aggressive and it just wasn't fun to read those articles anymore. ZU felt like it was run and used by people who still actually loved the franchise, so I made it my main site for news.
The site started advertising for help with writing the Twilight Princess guide last year and I thought, "Hey, I've played TP about 15 times. Why not? Stop being a lurker and join in with the community"
Apparently they were desparate enough to take me on. I joined the forums because I was forced too for management reasons . I don't usually use forums, but I've joined a clan and I'm trying to participate more. There definitely aren't enough people in my day to day life that are Zelda fans.
I believe it was back in 2003, I was highly anticipating The Wind Waker's release and so I somehow ended up here. I don't remember if it was through a search engine, perhaps it was. All I know is I went into the spoiler section, got spoiled, and made a thread to rant about it in which I called people 'spoiler brats' and then got lectured for not noticing the spoiler warnings. (I was a kid, alright)
oh jeez. this is really amusing. back in like literally 2004 or something for some reason the nickelodeon website had like forums KIND OF on there (i was like 12 fight me) and there was a zelda thread and someone i was friends with was like 'join these zelda forums' and i lurked for a while and now here i am like 12 years later
I found the website itself years ago maybe even in the TP years. I think I lurked the forum now and then, but it was only really with the recent news of Breathe of The Wild that led me to seek out Zelda information again.
I was just getting back into Zelda and googling Zelda related stuff, and ZU popped up. I was curious, honestly thought it might be cheesy, but when I took a look folks on here were really cool and there was a lot of good discussion going on! So I ended up creating an account, posting, and I never looked back.
I honestly don't remember when I first found Zelda Universe. I didn't join the forum until 2004, but I had to have known about the website for at least two years prior to that. I suspect I first discovered it while browsing around all the other Zelda websites.
I had a habit of visiting a Zelda website, finding the "affiliates" section, and then opening every single link in a new window. Wait a minute... I still do this.
At some point, I would have encountered Zelda Universe and added it to my internal index of Zelda websites that I needed to visit regularly.
Just after I started playing SS for the first time back in 2013, I decided to see if there was a forum since my interest in the series had been renewed after years of disinterest. And now I'm still here almost four years later.
I could have all of the money in the world; But it would be meaningless without you.
I joined 5 years ago after beating Skyward Sword. I started looking up lore and found this place. I fell in love with Fun and Games immediately. I lurk through SD often, and I have done a bit of community work here.
Back in 2003, can't remember the exact reason. But i think it was to do with finding guides on different Zelda's, more-so on Wind Waker and collecting the pictographs. Found this place, seemed quite nice. So i joined up in the December 03. Been much quieter in recent times, but still pop on now and then to see what's what.
I was trying to find some Zelda soundtracks, and grabbed a number of files from the media section. Then a few weeks later, I was searching for a decent map of Hyrule's geography for my Zelda Fanfic (remember when that was a thing I was working on? Wow, I got distracted), and I found a decent one being constructed in the Theory section. Some more time later, I was looking to advertise my Zelda Fanfic and decided that here was a good spot. And here I am, over a year and a half later, and no progress made on that bloody story whatsoever
I've known about the site for a while...I was reading articles and lurking around back in the mid 2000's. Admittedly I had a falling out with Zelda after Majoras Mask. Games like Minish Cap and Wind Waker just didn't resonate with me at the time. (Going back and playing those games I've come to appreciate them.)
Around the time of Twilight Princess I was getting really hype for the game and getting back into Zelda big time. That means I inevitably landed here from time to time when searching for Zelda related stuff.
I didn't join until sometime around Skyward Sword and I've been hanging around ever since.
