Celebrating 207 years of the Steam Locomotive
Yes, it was on this day in 1804 that British inventor Richard Trevithick showed off the first ever succsussful steam locomotive the world had ever seen. Quickly becomming the main form of travel for over 100 years, it is no doubt that this is one of the most important inventions of the 19th century. Even though today steam locomotives are usually a novelty for tourists, thier legacy has lived on none the less, leading to things such as the diesel and electric locomotives.
So celebrate this great invention today. Go for a train ride, play that old copy of spirit tracks you have lying around *cough*Vynrah*cough*, play with a toy train set, or watch the first 35 minutes of a Harry Potter movie. Regardless of how you do it, just remember that many of us may not be where we are today if it wasn't for this single invention creating easy and quick passage acrosse huge landscapes.
