What each Link would have for his morning coffee

by on June 5, 2024

Each Link has his own quirks, unique personality, different vibe, which means that just like any of us, he would have his own personal taste in coffee. Given the worlds they live in, and how they see those worlds, what would each Link probably order for his first cup of coffee to start the day? We think we know exactly what’s on the menu for them.

The Wind Waker / Phantom Hourglass – Iced Coconut Latte

Sailing between islands on a vast sea under a blazing sun, this cheeky Link wants something chilled and tropical. Something sweet and refreshing to brave those hot temperatures out on open water. He’s also the kind of kid who likes a straw.

Ocarina of Time / Majora’s Mask – Irish Coffee

Traumatized. Out of time. Isolated from those he knows and loves. He’s got a lot to process so he needs something a little stronger than just coffee.

This doesn’t count as underage drinking if he’s technically already become an adult, right? Maybe he could just drink it once he’s transformed into the Fierce Deity?

The Legend of Zelda / Zelda II: The Adventure of Link – Black Americano

Courageous, steadfast, and adventurous. This Link is the classic template for those who come after. Call him the “go-to” order, if you will.

A Link to the Past / Oracle of Ages / Oracle of Seasons / Link’s Awakening – Bulletproof Coffee

He’s defeated Ganon, Agahnim, Twinrova, Onox, and Veran, and he even saves the Wind Fish from the dream world it’s trapped in. He’s sure been on a lot of adventures, but that comes at a cost. He needs something filling, as well as stimulating. Caffeine alone isn’t quite enough.

The Minish Cap – Macchiato

After acquiring a magical talking cap named Ezlo, Link is able to shrink to the small size of a Minish. He’s kind of hot-headed too, always ready to jump into action (he charges at Vaati pretty much the moment he appears). His coffee order packs a punch in a tiny cup.

Twilight Princess – Double Espresso

This humble hero from Ordon Village has no time for fluff when it comes to roaming a shadowy Hyrule and rescuing his friends. He’ll want something intense and dark. Knowing Midna and where she comes from, we think she would be drinking the very same thing.

Spirit Tracks – Nitro cold brew

Choo choo! Skilled and intelligent, this Link can conduct his train expertly, even with monsters threatening the area. He’s a rather technical hero with great attention to detail so it makes sense he appreciates an engineering masterpiece of a beverage. Nitro cold brew is the result of nitrogen infusion, making the coffee sweet and velvety. It also has a long shelf life if stored correctly which saves him time while working his shift!

Skyward Sword – Cappuccino

In Skyloft, I think we can all agree it’s a chill vibe. Our Hero of the Sky might fancy a caffeine kick for exploring the surface, but he still wants a coffee he can sip and enjoy that’s as fluffy as the clouds he soars amongst. Cappuccino is the perfect choice here (chocolate sprinkles on top, of course).

A Link Between Worlds / Tri-Force Heroes – Mocha

Blending into the walls. Traveling between Hyrule and Lorule. Link is getting used to the best of both worlds so he’ll order a beverage that offers the perfect blend of two delightful flavors, and that can only be a mocha.

Breath Of The Wild / Tears Of The Kingdom – Cold Brew

This Link doesn’t know if he’s going to be tucked up in bed or huddled under a tree when it’s raining at night. He’s a DIY guy so he’ll make his own brew and bottle it, ready for any occasion.

Four Swords / Four Swords Adventures – A big pot of filter coffee

The team can share their morning coffee, showing their unity – but they can also add their own preferences. Sugar and milk is assuredly on the side if members of the group want to cater the drink of their individual tastes.

Hyrule Warriors – Flat White

From inexperienced trainee knight to arrogant soldier to mature hero, this hack-and-slash Link has a lot to deal with as he grows into his destiny. He’s ordering a strong coffee that gives him a boost, but also has a comforting silky texture.

Age Of Calamity – Blackeye Coffee

Have you ever seen this dude fight? He’s absolutely wired. That’s got to come from somewhere for when he’s busy protecting Zelda, fighting monster hordes, defeating Guardians, and beating Lynels (including Malice Lynels) of all things. Coffee on coffee is the only brew capable of powering this lean, mean, fighting machine.
