Goddess Cubes & Goddess Chests

Goddess Cubes and Goddess Chests are a sidequest in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. The first Goddess Cube will always be activated as part of the main quest. Gorko, a Goron, will meet you just before you enter the Skyview Temple and prompt you to activate a Goddess Cube with a Skyward Strike. However, opening the Goddess Chests and activating all other Goddess Cubes is entirely optional.
Goddess Cubes are hidden on the surface in Faron Woods, Eldin Volcano, and Lanayru Desert. When you activate a Goddess Cube, a specific Goddess Chest will become active on one of the islands in the Sky. If you locate an active Goddess Chest, you are rewarded with money or an item.

Goddess Cube Location
When you’re in the Deep Woods in the Faron region, you will meet Gorko the Goron, who will explain the concept of Goddess Cubes and have you activate the Goddess Cube in front of him with a Skyward Strike.
Goddess Chest Location
Located outside the front door of the Lumpy Pumpkin.

Located right outside of the Skyview Temple entrance.
Goddess Chest Location
Located on a small island to the west of Pumpkin Landing.

Goddess Cube Location
Located in the Skyview Spring after you’ve completed the Skyview Temple. The Goddess Cube is sitting behind the Goddess Statue.
Goddess Chest Location
Found on top of the Lumpy Pumpkin restaurant. Position yourself above the Lumpy Pumpkin and then dive off your Loftwing. Land on top of the tarp over the front entrance.

Goddess Cube Location
Swim inside the Great Tree using the Water Dragon’s Scale. The moment you exit, look straight down to see a Goddess Cube. Jump down to the west side of the tree to get to the Goddess Cube.
Goddess Chest Location
Located to the south of the Knight Academy. The chest is sitting on a small rock that is floating away from Skyloft. Jump off the diving platform near it and glide over to the island to reach the chest.

Goddess Cube Location
Climb to the top portion of the Great Tree and head back outside. Head in a counter-clickwise direction until you reach the southeast part of the tree. When you look down below, you’ll see the Goddess Cube. Drop down to the area below and then use your Sailcloth to glide over to the Goddess Cube. Alternatively, you can wait until you obtain the Clawshots later in the game to make it easier to reach this Goddess Cube.
Goddess Chest Location
Located on the volcano island to the east of the Lanayru region entrance. Dive off your Loftwing when you’re above the opening of the volcano and land on the upper ledge inside where the Goddess Chest is sitting. JUst like its corresponding Goddess Cube, you can also wait until later in the game when you have the Clawshots to make this chest easier to get to.

Goddess Cube Location
Climb to the top portion of the Great Tree and head to the area where you met the Kikwi sleeping in the tree. There is an area of the tree here that sticks out and faces towards the entrance to the Deep Woods (the Viewing Platform). Head to the south of this spot and hang off the ledge so you can see below. You will see Goddess Cube #15 as well as a tightrope leading to another platform. Shimmy along the edge until you are above the other platform, drop down, and then head across the tightrope.
Goddess Chest Location
Located on an island to the northeast of the Isle of Songs in the Thunderhead. Kill the Walltulas on the vines in this area and then climb up to reach the Goddess Chest.
Rupee Medal
Goddess Cube Location
Located above the Skyview Temple entrance. Head to the right and latch yourself onto the vines using your Clawshots to get to the top of the temple and find the Goddess Cube.
Goddess Chest Location
Located on Beedle’s Island at night. Sleep in Beedle’s Airshop until night and then climb the ladder and head into the area where Beedle sleeps to find the Goddess Chest.

Located near the entrance of the Eldin region. Walk forward and then take the left turn to drop down to a lower platform where the Goddess Cube is sitting.
Goddess Chest Location
Located on an island to the west of Fun Fun Island.

Goddess Cube Location
After you’ve learned how to use Bomb Flowers from the Mogma in Eldin, run ahead to a new area, pass the Bird Statue, and you’ll find a path that splits into three different directions. Take the path straight ahead and you’ll reach the Goddess Cube.
Goddess Chest Location
On an island located between Bamboo Island and Beedle’s Island (it’s sitting on the upper portion of this island).

As you’re traveling through Eldin the first time, you’ll come across a small volcano. When you jump down through the opening, watch for the Goddess Cube on the right as you dive. Use your Sailcloth to glide your way safely down to the platform with the cube sitting on it.
Goddess Chest Location
On the right side of the lower section of the Isle of Songs.

Goddess Cube Location
Look to the left of the Earth Temple entrance and you’ll find a few soil spots that you can dig into with the Digging Mitts. Once you’ve dug them up, one of them will be an air geyser. Throw a Bomb into the air geyser so that it goes up to blow up the boulder at the top. Once that’s done, ride the air geyser up to reach the Goddess Cube.

Located on Bamboo Island, behind the building.
Treasure Medal
Goddess Cube Location
Look to the right of the Earth Temple entrance and you will find an area where several huts are set up where the Bokoblin reside. Behind this area is a ramp that leads down to the Goddess Cube.
Goddess Chest Location
Located on an island to the far northeast of Skyloft. Land on the higher part of the island and then make your way down with the vines. The Goddess Chest is found behind the gated section.

Goddess Cube Location
In the Eldin region, look to the northeast corner of the map to find a gigantic sand slide. Slide down it and take the left turn into an air geyser to ride up to a higher platform. In front of it is a lower platform where the Goddess Cube is sitting.
Goddess Chest Location
Jump into the river in Skyloft and swim into the underwater passage that leads to the base of the windmill. Keep following this path and you’ll seen reach a storage shed that has the Goddess Chest located nearby.

Located at the beginning of the Lanayru Mine, to the far south.
Goddess Chest Location
Located on an island to the southeast of Beedle’s Island. Drop to the lower area and blow up the wall with a Bomb to reveal the Goddess Chest.
Heart Medal
Goddess Cube Location
Located at the southwest section of Lanayru Desert. Take out the Ampilus in this area with a Bomb dropped from the Beetle and then run over to stand on the shell it leaves behind. When Link’s stamina bar is filled again, dash over to the Goddess Cube.
Goddess Chest Location
On the volcano island’s outer section, located to the east of the Lanayru region entrance.

Inside the Temple of Time, there is a mine cart located to the northwest. Activate it with the Timeshift Stone and ride it across the next gap. Charge a Skyward Sword as you’re riding and then activate the Goddess Cube that appears as you’re traveling.
Goddess Chest Location
Located on Beedle’s Island, just above the cave.
Heart Medal
Goddess Cube Location
Head to the northeast section of the Lanayru Desert and blow up the crack in the north-eastern wall to reveal a corridor. Latch yourself onto the targets with the Clawshots to reach the Goddess Cube.
Goddess Chest Location
Located on an island just west of Beedle’s Island. Land on the lower section and then dive into the area of water here. Swim to the end and then do a water dash attack to get up to the ledge where the Goddess Chest is sitting.

Goddess Cube Location
Located to the southwest of the Lanayru Mining Facility on a higher platform that you must latch onto with the Clawshots.
Goddess Chest Location
Located on an island to the northwest of Fun Fun Island, an island where we got a previous chest. There are vines in this area you can climb down to reach the Goddess Chest that is at the bottom.
Small Quiver
Goddess Cube Location
Located in the Lanayru Gorge in the northeast section of the map. Located near the Tree of Life seedling.
Goddess Chest Location
Located on the island to the southwest of the Isle of Songs (the same island as the last chest) and enter the tunnels here again. Climb out of the hole in the corner of the room to reach the chest that contains the Small Quiver.
Lake Floria

Goddess Cube Location
As you are making your way through Lake Floria, stop at the Bird Statue that’s sitting up on dry land. Turn and walk to the back of this cavern to reach the Goddess Cube.
Goddess Chest Location
Located near the west side of Skyloft on an island separated from the rest of Skyloft. You will have to latch onto the vines hanging from the edges with your Clawshots until you make it to the biggest island. Once you’re up there, dive off the northwest side and glide down to the island where the Goddess Chest is sitting.

Goddess Cube Location
Located outside the Ancient Cistern entrance. Face the pathway that leads to the Water Dragon’s home and then look over to the left a little bit to see vines that you can latch onto to lead you to the Goddess Cube’s location.
Goddess Chest Location
Located on the small island floating underneath Fun Fun Island.
Lanayru Sand Sea

Goddess Cube Location
Located at the north section of the entrance port of the Lanayru Sand Sea where you met Skipper. Latch yourself onto one of the boxes with your Clawshots to reach a cavern where the Goddess Cube is located.
Goddess Chest Location
Located in the storage area behind the counter at Gondo’s Scrap Shop.
Potion Medal
Goddess Cube Location
Located on a pillar at Skipper’s Retreat. Head past the bridge and then look to the left to see a pillar with vines growing on it. Clawshot over to the vines, climb around the left side, then latch yourself onto the pillar where the Goddess Cube is sitting.
Goddess Chest Location
Located on an island to the northwest of Fun Fun Island. Land on the platform and you’ll see a gate closing you off from the chest. There are vines growing above, so latch yourself through the gap in the gate and drop down to reach the Goddess Chest here.

Goddess Cube Location
When you’ve completed the Pirate Stronghold area in the Lanayru Sand Sea, head back outside and then turn around to see a Clawshot target above the door. Latch onto it and then latch onto the next target to reach the platform where the Goddess Cube is located.
Goddess Chest Location
Located on top of the waterfall island. Latch yourself onto the northern island and then to the next island to reach the Goddess Chest.
Volcano Summit

Goddess Cube Location
Located in the Volcano Summit at the area where the waterfall is. There is a ledge across from the waterfall that Link can dive off of; dive off and glide forward to a platform hiding behind a pillar which has a Goddess Cube sitting on it.
Goddess Chest Location
Located on Bug Island in the Thunderhead. The chest is sitting on a small wooden ledge towards the southwest edge of the island, but we can’t reach it from here – instead, stand on the stone structure in the center of this island and drop down onto the wooden platform below to reach the Goddess Chest.
Small Bomb Bag
Goddess Cube Location
Face the Fire Sanctuary entrance and then turn left and climb out the window here. Latch yourself onto the pillars and make your way across using the pillars until you reach the Goddess Cube.
Goddess Chest Location
Located directly on top of the Isle of Songs tower – jump off your Loftwing to land on top and reach the Goddess Chest.
Empty Bottle
Goddess Cube Location
Located in the room to the right when you enter the Volcano Summit. Use the platforms in the lava to get closer to the cube and then perform a Skyward Strike from there to activate it.
Goddess Chest Location
Located within the Thunderhead to the southwest of the Isle of Song. Dig into the soil spot here to enter some underground tunnels. Ignore or defeat the Moldorm and then climb out at the other exit. Climb up the vines in this new area to reach the Goddess Chest.
