So I made a thread earlier this year called "Man's best 'friend'" and it seemed to spark a lot of controversy. Just in case you don't feel like reading through it, here it is in a nutshell:

A dog tore up my sister's arm pretty bad and my cousin shot it. The owners of the dog next door never kept their dog on a leash or in a fence. My sister also has two young children that play in the yard, the same yard that dog accessed at will.

The main controversy was whether or not it was right for my cousin to have shot the dog. Many people in the thread were angered by the action my cousin took. So here's the question... Would you ever shoot a dog that was aggressive to any of your loved ones? Do you see it as wrong? What would you do?

What if it was your neighbor's dog?

I got into zelda by watching my friend play OoT when it first came out. I got it for christmas and played it nonstop. been hooked ever since

I am a huge fan of the 64 games, and enjoy them equally- Oot for it's perfection and overall epicness, and MM because of the dark tone of the story and the feel of an rpg.

Other than that I really liked Wind Waker and also enjoyed the Oracles, especially Ages.

Anyways I look forward to posting here and discussing zelda

Me: The first game I played with aLttP on the SNES but I never really understood it. I always had to get help from my sister, so yeh. I have a Wii, and I had SSBB until it broke. I haven't gone out to buy Twilight Princess yet (yeah, shocking >.<) because I'm too lazy. I also have PH, MM, and OoT, but my favorite is still aLttP.

Me: I read/watch a lot of anime/manga. That's probably because I'm Asian (or maybe not... Then again, the Japanese didn't come up EXCUUUSE ME, PRINCESS). Me: I really love writing and playing piano and I sometimes combine the two to make crappy songs I can't sing. I also take a lot of naps because I love sleep, and I have an eclectic musical taste. I also read a lot, and I'm currently enamored with Douglas Adams/Arthur C. Clarke, though my favorite book (and band!) is Catch-22.
Welcome to the fourteenth incarnation of the ZU Scrapbook! All your photos from the thirteenth have filled up one wall of my basement and, to be honest, I'm running out of red paint -- so I'm moving onto the west-facing wall which is more highlighter appropriate.

Post photos of yourself here! Scrapbook XII is here. In addition to the rules that are applicable everywhere on the ZU forums, here are some reminders:

No spam. No flaming. No trolling. Follow the rules and be a courteous poster!

"Do not post yourself in utterly naughty and inappropriate poses. No one really wants to see in that state. Yea." - James

Size your photos so that they are of reasonable width and height; don't take up the whole screen.

Consider the folks with a 56k modem and if your photos are large, provide links instead. Especially while quoting posts with large pictures in.

Comments are fun; constructive criticism is allowed if you think that the poster will be comfortable with what you have to say. Bashing the photos and how people look will not be tolerated. Flaming will result in warnings or an infraction. So think before you comment. And as a side-note, taking material from the Scrapbook to edit and make fun of other members is still flaming.

If nobody provides any comments on your photos, it's reasonable to ask once for feedback. But, don't be overly pushy about it. And no "bumping."

No one or two word posts consisting of nothing but a quick compliment which can otherwise be said via VM/PM. There's a few select people who do this regularly, and although I'm not naming names, posts like that in the future will be deleted. Constant repeat occurences may incur an infraction. Just like the CT, this is not a place you can spam up. Keep that to the clans.

I have As in 5 of my classes, Geography, Band, Life Science, Health, and Computers, but I have a C- in Pre-Algebra, and, due to a bad test grade, a D in Enriched English, my two very hard honors classes, by 7th grade standards.
Just so you know, I've always been a good student, and knowing about these two grades is making me nervous.

The English grade can be brought up, but I'm not too optimistic about Pre-Algebra. So, should I be concerned about failing either class?

Also in this new trailer Link is holding a different sword from that of the art. One that looks strikingly familiar to our trusty hilted friend. In any case I'm placing my bets on the Master Sword being in this game from the looks of it.

With Wordpad open, my creative juices flowing and the desire to WRITE THE **** OUT OF SOMETHING, I decided to do this.

So, I've decided to pen something about a certain race of Hyrule. And who do I choose? The stoic Rito, whose evolutionary path is (unfortunately) no longer shrouded in mystery? Perhaps the Sheikah, red-eyed rememberers of a time when their tribe was plentiful? Mayhap the Gerudo, powerful desert Amazons who vanished without a trace?

The answer is no. I chose a different race, one often forgotten.

You know the ones. The little guys.

Fairies.

(Okay, ew, maybe not that one. Anyone else getting some serious Little Sister vibes here?)

Ah yes, the fairies. The ones seldom written about. I guess it's just that every other race is a lot more interesting than them. Or maybe because SOMEONE named NAVI had to go and **** UP THE THE FAIRY TRAIN FOR EVERYONE ELSE, THANKS A BUNCH.

We all know the fairies. Little servants, sometimes glowing, sometimes not, always winged and always healing. Once they've attended to a wounded person, they... die? Go to a fairy spring? We're really not sure.
(Mystery #1 surrounding the fairies-- what happens when they've finished their current job?)

Once thing we are sure about when it comes to fairies though, is that they are highly magical creatures, which I guess is the only possible way to fly when your wings are that out of proportion to the rest of your body. Hell, in Wind Waker they even had little wands, as if to drive home the "WE'RE MAGICAL" point a little more.

Hey, in OoT they didn't have wands... or... bodies... Which brings me to my next point:

Different Kinds of Fairies

(Pictured, in descending order-- Wind Waker "human" fairy, OoT "light" fairy, original NES/SNES "sprite" fairy.)

Zelda fairies, like beauty, come in many shapes and sizes. However, the reason as to why they do still lingers in the air like the smell of Cheez-Its under the front seat of your creepy uncle's jalopy. I guess you could argue that WInd Waker and NES/SNES are kind-of sort-of not-really the same, except for, you know, antennae. But OoT is way out there. What is with this glowing ball of heavenly light? What lurks inside it? Am I running out of steam? Did this thread leave you with more questions than answers? Is this whole thing up for discussion? Was this a total ****in' ripoff? The answer is yes!

Many arguments have sprung up from biochemists, philosophers and mathematicians throughout the past ten years against Darwinism. Famous scientist Francis Collins states that some of the laws of Darwinism are against human nature.

I reject the idea that that is an evolutionary consequence, because that moral law sometimes tells us that the right thing to do is very self-destructive. If I'm walking down the riverbank, and a man is drowning, even if I don't know how to swim very well, I feel this urge that the right thing to do is to try to save that person. Evolution would tell me exactly the opposite: preserve your DNA. Who cares about the guy who's drowning? He's one of the weaker ones, let him go. It's your DNA that needs to survive. And yet that's not what's written within me.

- Francis Collins

Agree or Disagree?

The events of Ocarina of Time almost never actually took place in the CT, but was mainly part of the AT. Therefore, Majora's Mask is technically the only game at the beginning of the CT, while Ocarina of Time starts off the AT as is already believed to be the case.

I got started on this rant when I was reading ..Then what are Links Limits by Zeldablue.

For years, Miyomoto has been giving us the line that "Link is a representation of the player.". This line has been taken up by fanboys and used as an excuse against numerous innovations such as voice acting, open ended story development, and customizable characters. However, this is obviously not the case. Instead, we just have a protagonist with no personality, very little outward expression, and a complete lack of any interesting characteristics.

I never feel that I am the protagonist of a game unless I am given four or five dialogue options in each conversation and events that change according to what I pick. However, if we put that in a Zelda game, most fans would flip out because it would be *gasp* untraditional. However, that would at least make me feel like I'm in control of the story. Maybe I want to demand rupees in exchange for doing a task, rather than just dutifully trekking across Hyrule for a side quest. Maybe I want to hit on the princess a bit. Give me control over my own destiny!

If we can't do that, only other option in my opinion is to do the opposite: give Link a personality and some lines and take all player input out of the mix. Make him like every other video game character, and allow him to talk and have his own opinions. Make him a jack ass initially instead of the typical "Yes, Princess, I'll go get 8 magic crystals for you." Do something interesting! Sure, he wouldn't be a representation of the player, but he would at least add depth to the story. Until now, all character depth has come from every character except the protagonist. Would the Final Fantasy series' stories be half as moving if Cloud or Tidus or whoever was mute and emotionless?

Sorry for the ranting. Anyway, discuss.

I may be just a fanboy of the Zelda series and want my ideas to become game (Miyamoto, please read this), but from what I've seen of the Zelda series so far, there are two major areas of the series that remained unexplored/unanswered. I'll begin with the more obvious area:

1. A Different "Link"
From the very first Zelda game to now, the only thing that has changed (not taking are style into account), is the color of Link's hair from brown to blond, the hair style (to some extent), and the secondary color of Link's clothes. What I'm looking at is not so much a slight cosmetic change, but a radical change in what Link looks like. My solution is to make two Links. Yes, two Links: one that looks like the traditional Link and one that doesn't. They would be fraternal twins, the traditional-looking Link being thought of as the next hero and trying to obtain that glory; the other, the one you'd play as, trying to gain success in the shadow of your "destined" brother. What more, the traditional Link could become obsessed with his goal and obtain the Triforce of Power; the new Link obtains the Triforce of Courage because he is actually trying to do good. The final battle could be traditional Link vs. new Link (truly and epic battle)! The game could even be subtitled "The Broken Link"!

That's one speculative idea, but here is the other one that might not be as noticeable.

2. The Origin of Link, the Shiekah, and the Fierce Deity
From my observation, I have always seen the Fierce Deity to look somewhat like he would belong as a Sheikah. If, say, the Fierce Deity once was a Shiekah, then he could have gone through the same process that Darmani and Mikau went through and have his power and form condensed into a mask; however, unlike Darmani and Mikau, maybe just his power and form were sent into the mask. What remains might have looked like Link. Edit: This "Link" may go on to father the traditional Link that we know of and that exists in Ocarina of Time. End EditThis could explain how the Link in Ocarina of Time was able to escape the attack and get to Kokiri Forest; the once Fierce Deity Link allowed the new Link and his mother to escape by some Shiekah route or magic. The happy mask salesman may eventually have been given the mask and went on his merry way. Just to think of a villain in this game, since it is pre-Ocarina of Time, I would say either a rogue Sheikah or Gannon. Why Gannon? We could see the Fierce Deity or some other force seal Gannon in the newly born Gannondorf.

So those are my two ideas. The first would be a fresh change in pace for the series and the second would tie up some loose ends. Feel free to comment, for I do enjoy hearing other people's ideas for the series. Who knows, the Zelda Wii may incorporate some of these ideas...
