Zelda’s lullaby has always been a favorite of mine, and I always find myself singing it around the house, at work, in the car, and every other place I go. I know what you’re thinking, how does one sing a song without lyrics? My reply can best be expressed with Jillian Aversa’s vocal arrangement of “Zelda’s Lullaby” and “Ballad of the Goddess”.
Not only does Aversa have an incredible voice (and I mean INCREDIBLE), but she also created a Hylian type language specifically for the lyrical cover. The creativity and dedication to the series she has astonishes me. Though the “Ballad of the Goddess” lyrics are those that Zelda herself sings in the game, Aversa sings them in such a way our Princess would be proud of, nonetheless.
The transitions between songs are beautifully done as well. The final progression into “Zelda’s Lullaby” stuns me every time. The composition of the piece is very well done, never missing a single beat, even when the melody begins to accelerate in the middle of the arrangement. The orchestration also compliments Aversa’s breathtaking voice marvelously.
All I have left to say about this piece is I’ve never envied someone’s voice as much as I do Jillian Aversa’s. She can hit all of those high notes in “Zelda’s Lullaby” that I can just hardly reach. All jokes aside, there’s a reason that she has gone on tour with Video Games Live, and I hope to see more beautiful pieces like this from her in the future!
