Last week we reported that Breath of the Wild had been nominated for three Game Critics Awards in their Best of E3 2016 awards, including Best in Show, and we’re thrilled to announce that it won all three!
Along with Best in Show, Breath of the Wild took home the Best Console Game and Best Action/Adventure Game awards. While I can honestly say that I’m not too surprised — Breath of the Wild is promising to be an incredible game — it was up against some strong competition including Horizon Zero Dawn, Battlefield 1, and Dishonored 2. With its three awards, Breath of the Wild had the most wins of any game. Battlefield 1, the most-nominated game, was up for five awards but took home only Best Action Game in the end.
The Game Critics Awards is an independent group consisting of more than 40 global media outlets covering the video game industry. The Best of E3 awards recognize the games that they believe will shape the future of interactive entertainment based on the playable demos on display at E3. Let’s hope that next year we’ll see Breath of the Wild scooping up a bunch of “Game of the Year” awards too!
