There’s been plenty of attempts at fan-made Zelda films over the years, some more successful than others, but this latest trailer for a Majora’s Mask film looks like it could be the best yet. The short film — it will apparently run to about 3 minutes — is created by Ember Lab and Theophany, and is slated for release later this year — assuming Nintendo doesn’t hit them with a cease and desist in the meantime. There’s been rumours abound about a live action Zelda series on Netflix, though they were ultimately quashed, but if this is anything to go by, animation could be the way forward for Nintendo’s foray into other forms of entertainment with their IP. It looks absolutely stunning.

Watch the trailer below and in the meantime, why not check out the latest instalment of our Wind Waker: The Movie project.

Looks amazing! Really looking forward to seeing the final result.

  • Simply for the sake of people teasing a infringing fan work before it’s done when Nintendo takes these down in the regular, I hope it gets shut down.

The ones I’ll support are the ones with creators with enough foresight to just finish it before sending up a flare to the IP-holders saying “We’re going to do this fan thing here that you probably won’t like and have the power to CnD…please don’t CnD it tho kthx”

I once heard the logic that creators do it in order to get funding for the projects which really *is* copyright infringement.
