Hyrule Warriors Legends isn’t far off now, though its release date of March 24 may still feel ages away. If you live in Europe, you have two options: go back to bed and hope that time will pass quicker while you sleep, or, go take a look at the 3DS eShop. There you’ll find a demo for the much anticipated game, available to download and packed in nice gift wrapping, just for you!

The demo lets you take a sneak peek at what Hyrule Warriors Legends has to offer. It introduces the new feature of swapping characters during the battles, which is essential in navigating the battlefield. It also gives you an impression of how easy it is to stay focused on such a small screen, despite the hordes of enemies, thanks to the graphic adjustments. Koei Tecmo handled the control transition from the Wii U GamePad to the 3DS console very well, although the fact that focusing on an enemy requires you to let go of your characters control for a moment takes some getting used to. The demo is rather short, but still fun nonetheless. If you have a 3DS with an internet connection and aren’t yet sure if Hyrule Warriors Legends is worth the money, give it a chance and let the game prove itself!
If you are wondering the differences between the demo on 3DS and New 3DS, allow me to sum up my experience. You do not have any means to influence the camera separately on the normal 3DS, and there are significant differences in loading times, enemy respawns and frame rate between the two systems. So if you want to enjoy the game to the fullest, I do recommend using the New 3DS if you have one available. That said, it’s still a lot of fun with a standard 3DS.
