Nintendo’s Camp Miiverse, which was to be held from July 7 until July 20, came to an abrupt close over the recent passing of Nintendo’s CEO, Satoru Iwata. The video game community has been grieving over his death, and on July 13, Nintendo officially cancelled all events to be held on Camp Miiverse having only a week left of the event.

This event was to contain challenges each day on the 3DS and Wii U, bringing together players during their summer holidays. A few games announced on this camp was Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Splatoon, and Mario Kart 8. It’s understandable due to the events that unfolded earlier that week, leaving Nintendo without a CEO.

“Iwata leaves behind an amazing legacy and we will spend every day trying to honor him”

It’s been a very sad month in video game history; with the passing of a legend among the internationally known company of Nintendo. We will miss you Satoru Iwata, and we thank you for all the work you’ve done bringing hope to gamers everywhere.
