Today, many fans’ dreams have met with a terrible fate. A few weeks ago, we were astonished by the announcement of a live action series by Nintendo based on our favorite and most beloved franchise. On its announcement we were flooded with excitement and nervousness as we were happy to see a live action version of Zelda, but at the same time, we were worried about how easily the TV show could be ruined.

It comes as a shock to many of us that Nintendo has officially denied the statements made by the Wall Street Journal. In an interview with TIME, Iwata stated “As of now, I have nothing new to share with you in regard to the use of our IPs for any TV shows or films, but I can at least confirm that the article in question is not based on correct information,”.

Once again rumors are shot down by Nintendo and many fans are left wanting more. However, I wouldn’t be ready to give up hope on this combined effort from Nintendo and Netflix. If we remember a few months back, Nintendo denied rumors of Majora’s Mask being remade and ended up surprising us with it just a few months ago. Maybe the project isn’t set in stone just yet, or Nintendo just feels it’s not the right time to announce anything. If we take his statement literally, the false information Iwata was referring to could simply be how it is based on a family friendly Game of Thrones concept. Only time will tell; we may get more information in a future Nintendo Direct, or this rumor could be simply that, a rumor. What are your thoughts on the Iwata’s statement?
