The charging cradles that came with the Nintendo 3DS and 3DS XL were incredibly useful and great accessories to the console, but with the New 3DS XL, Nintendo left the cradle and the power adapter out of the box. Wouldn’t it be nice if there were a cradle to charge the New 3DS XL? Well, your wishes have been granted. Nintendo has added a charging cradle for the New 3DS to their online store. Unlike the original charging cradles, these sleek accessories hold the console vertically to charge it.

These puppies are on sale now for $9 (plus shipping and tax, of course), but you still need to have the AC Adapter to use it, but if you’re still missing one, don’t worry — you can also pick up one of those for $9.95 on the Nintendo online store too. IGN has put together an unboxing video of the new charging cradle that you can watch below!

Sometimes I put my 3DS 1.0 in the cradle with the screen open to keep the game going. It looks like you can’t do that with this version. I still can’t believe they didn’t include a cord. You can’t assume everyone who buys a New 3DS has owned an older model.
