It was assumed that the Sheik amiibo, arriving sometime in February with the other wave three amiibo, would have some type of functionality in the Zelda spin-off title Hyrule Warriors. There is now confirmation that the Sheik amiibo does have functionality in the game: it will unlock a weapon — specifically for usage with Sheik — rated three stars or higher, once per day.

HW amiibo

This is incredibly similar to how the Zelda amiibo functions as well, so this doesn’t seem like much of a surprise. Link also works in a similar way, unlocking the “spinner” weapon once per day. Will you be picking up the Sheik amiiibo, if you can manage to snag it?

    Most days Link unlocks the Triforce Spinner, but one day I got Twilight Epona. Samus seems random. Kirby gives anywhere from 50,000 rupees to 1 rupee. I’d rather just get weapons. My 1st choice in wave 3 will be Wind Waker Link, but it sounds like I will like what Sheik is handing out.

      By my experience, all Amiibo rewards are pretty much random, except for Amiibo’s that are Zelda-related. In general, it can be any of the following:
      * 1, 5000 or 50,000 rupees
      * 10 Bronze-rank materials
      * 10 Silver-rank materials (from common enemies)
      * 1 Silver-rank material (from bosses)
      * 1 Gold-rank material (from bosses)
      * A random Rank 3 weapon (Only ones that have been unlocked via Adventure mode)

      The (basic) spinner unlocks the first time you tap a Link or Toon Link Amiibo, at that point it is added to the “pool” of random level 3 weapons that can be obtained.
      Tapping a (Toon) Link Amiibo will always yield a weapon for Link; likewise with Zelda or Sheik.

      Soon it’ll be 5, Ganondorf has got to be released at some point..and I bet there will be new Zelda amiibo for Zelda U.

    Used Marth and got 1 rupee the first day, never thought of using him again…..is there any way of unlocking all these extra weapons without buying the Ammibos because I really don’t like the idea of locked DLC….

      all weapons (except the spinner) can be unlocked without amiibos

      but i think there might be dlc weapons

        If I’m not mistaken, the only actual DLC weapon is Epona for Link. Any other DLC weapons are those that come with their respective DLC characters.

    Long story short — the only weapon that is completely exclusive to Amiibo is the Spinner, and even then it only needs to be used once, so if you have a friend wih a Link Amiibo you can simply use theirs for one time and you’ll be all set.
