Earlier this week, various celebrities duked it out against each other in a Smash Bros. for Wii U tournament. The fighting began with two groups of eight, and was whittled down, battle by battle.

super smash wii u tournament

Some of the 16 fighters consisted of celebrities like Keegan Allen from Pretty Little Liars, Robbie Amell from the television show The Flash, Rick Malambri from Step Up 3D, and even Zelda Williams, who placed in the top four.

In the end, Robbie Amell walked away as the top Smasher after defeating Luke Benward in the finals. It’s always nice to see Nintendo titles get some more mainstream attention, and the Smash Bros. series has certainly stirred up quite a bit of hype. Perhaps we’ll see even more higher profile tournaments as the North American release date for the game is merely a week away.

At least she lost to the guy who won. Gotta be worth something there.

So stoked that Robbie Amell won the tournament, he’s one of my favorite actors. It would have been cool is Zelda Williams made to the finals, but I’m happy that she made it to the semifinals though.

True story: At E3 when they had the Smash Invitational that Zelda Williams and Keegan Allen (Toby from Pretty Little Liars) were in, I saw Keegan walking outside between the theatre and convention center (I’m a huge PLL fan), but I was too shy to say anything to him.
