Some great looking third-party controllers — with that retro GameCube design that might just be the best ever seen in a controller — are coming your way just in time for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.

According to GoNintendo, PDP will be releasing four new controllers — based on Link, Donkey Kong, Samus and Wario — on top of the previously announced Mario, Princess Peach and Yoshi controllers.

From the pictures, it appears as though they’ll have a shiny and smooth plastic casing. For those who prefer a grittier feel for better grip, this might not be your best choice.

However, the controllers are available at the decent price of $24.99 CDN, which is comparatively affordable in the games controller market. Besides, not every controller is made with our favorite video game icon in mind! (Sorry, Mario. Despite your desperate assertions to the contrary, it’s not you).

There appear to be no release details yet, but we’ll keep you updated. How many of you will be picking up the Smash Bros. bundle, complete with a Smash Bros. edition GameCube-style controller and adapter?

  • Zant

I’ll stick to the one that comes in the bundle, thanks.

  • Caleb Alan

    yeah, kinda ugly imo.

  • Ryan Haney

It looks weird to see that controller without a yellow C Stick, but over all, I like it.

  • Vladislak

It looks interesting, and I like the idea, but I’ve had a bad history with 3rd party controllers so I almost always stick to 1st party nowadays.

  • Zelda Fan Guy

Only thing about it that really says LoZ at all is the crest on it =/

Wish they would have put more details on it to associate it 🙁
