Last week, Twitch streamer Karl Jobst did the unthinkable: beating three Nintendo 64 favorites Ocarina of Time, Super Mario 64 and Goldeneye 007 — all within less than an hour. At the same time. The impressive stunt was conducted using downtime in one game to progress with the other two. The entire run clocked in at an astounding 51 minutes!

Is it just me or is using glitches unimpressive for a true speed run? I mean, they’re cool but you’re not legitimately playing the game.

    • Thomas Andersen

I think you need to devide it into two categories! “Glitch Free” and “Not Glitch Free”! The “Not Glitch Free” category more often than not got a bigger comunity and more competition! Just finding some of the glitches has taken years! But of course, a True Speedrun needs to be done without the use of glitches! Still, I wouldnt say using glitches is unimpressive, its just in a different category than not using glitches!:)

        True true.

    • eByTech

Quite a few of the glitches actually take quite some time so master, longer than one would think. Often, in addition to knowing glitches, the speedrunner also needs to know how to play the game normally with skill and know its mechanics.

      • Sageofsarcasm

Quite true. I mean, the guy is amazingly skilled. I know glitches are crazy hard as well. It’s not like he was doing a 100% run.

  • Lorenz Vandevelde

Very impressive. Btw, using glitches = skill. If you talk about competitive gaming, knowledge is a big part of it. Glitching is also not cheating as many say. You still play the game how it was made. A glitch is an in-game mechanic. Cheating however is using resources outside the game to give you an advantage. For example, a program that allows you to save at anypoint in the game while not having that option in the game.

I felt a little cheated with the Ocarina of Time speedrun, but I guess I should’ve expected him to use glitches. Oh well.

helps to add moisture and texture to the skin. These are made from gel and are easy to maintain and can be removed after
using. So, just look for those magic words on the pack
    and put on some makeup.
