Last night’s Hyrule Warriors Direct revealed the game’s Adventure Mode, which merges the original Legend of Zelda with Hyrule Warriors combat. 8-bit Link stands on a grid map with each square depicting a different stage. As he travels to each block, he is given special missions, such as defeating 300 enemies in 10 minutes. Accepting the challenge takes the player to the Hyrule Warriors battlefield. Upon achieving victory, the player can then move to the next block on the grid, collecting classic Legend of Zelda items along the way.

While traveling across the map, the player can utilize exploration items such as the compass or candle to search for treasure such as new weapons or Heart Pieces. Those items can then be obtained by accomplishing the various challenges. Adventure Mode can award the player with weapons that can’t be found anywhere else in the game. It can also unlock new playable characters.
