Nintendo showcased a beautiful trailer earlier today featuring Link doing battle with a large creature throughout a gorgeous terrain. There’s a catch though: that may not be Link in the trailer, according to a Venture Beat interview with Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma. When interviewer Mike Minotti asked Aonuma about Link’s striking new appearance and attire, Aonuma cryptically replied, “No one explicitly said that that was Link.”

Aonuma has discussed breaking from the series’ traditions in the past, andย has mentioned his desire to make a Hyrule that is drastically different from those in previous entries inย the series, so perhaps it isn’t far-fetched for the character shown in the trailer to be someone other than Link. Or maybe Aonuma is just pulling our leg and merely wants to increase speculation and anticipation for the new game. It’ll be interesting to see where this leads, and if that was Link we saw in the trailer or someone else. Either way, all we can do right now is speculate.

  • Kaydan Howison

I have a hard time believing that’s not Link.

    • Rachel

I’m pretty sure it is Link. It could maybe be a younger sister/brother/cousin that will be important to the story that they decided to feature in the trailer just to screw with us, but I doubt it. My personal theory is that we will witness Link age again. I think what we’ve been shown is possibly a younger version of the Hero we will ultimately play. No green tunic yet, possibly no sword or shield, and that ponytail. Link has an iconic look that I seriously doubt Nintendo is ready to deviate from. I’d bet at some point in the game ponytail Link will grow into the standard Link we all know and love.

    • EnaZeibekiko

I bet Nintendo’s going back to Zelda’s roots even in the sense of Link’s being a conduit between the gamer and Hyrule: in this iteration you choose not only Link’s name but his gender. There wasn’t a hint of a love story until Ocarina of Time, and Skyward Sword presented a romance the last go-around, so it makes sense that Nintendo will go back to emphasizing a heroic citizen of Hyrule setting out to rescue the Princess because it’s the right thing to do.

I promise the Internet there is no way that’s Zelda. Like, c’mon.

      • Keaton

“There wasn’t a hint of a love story until Ocarina of Time”

        *cough*Link’s Awakening*cough*

        • EnaZeibekiko

I meant with Zelda, but yes!–Marin is Link’s dream girl.

          • Keaton

I see what you did there.

      • Melody

Where was the love story in OOT? in that one I always took it as they hinted Link was somehow related to Zelda, perhaps even her brother. But that may have been just what I saw.

        • killerbox13

Technically Link got engaged to a fish in OoT haha But I never saw romance between Link and Zelda in OoT, personally

          • Melody

Lolol the princess Ruhto(sp?) Was always a good comical thi g in my mind since link is oblivious”marrige? What? Oh well got spiritual stone wrre good.” But yeah I prefer no romantic interest personally. Leaving it open to the player was always best I think. Twilight Princess did it best I believe. No romantic feelings hinted there, and rhey are noth very comfortable in their roles(farmer/queen)

        • EnaZeibekiko

The faintest hint of a love story!–when Zelda turns to Link in the garden at Hyrule castle while she’s spying on Ganondorf. Honestly, I didn’t interpret it that way, but I thought I’d cover my bases.

      • killerbox13

I like that in each Zelda, Link and Zelda’s relationships are different. Like, in Minish Cap they were childhood friends. In Skyward Sword, they were students with romance towards each other. What I really liked in Twilight Princess is that they had no connection at all and were even awkward when alone together and didn’t know what to say. They came from completely different worlds. One of royalty (technically she was queen in it, not princess) and one was a farm boy from the far reaches of the country who had never even been to a big city. Pretty cool, I think.

        • Keaton

“technically she was queen in it, not princess”

You’re almost right, but her coronation was interrupted by Zant’s invasion so she still held the title of princess rather than queen.

  • JaidynReiman

Its Zelda. The design is way too feminine. (Now people are going to call Link Zelda more than ever.)

  • killerbox13

People are using the arguement of no boobs. I have two arguments for that. 1. Prepubescent. and/or 2. Sheik

    • PolarBear

      3. Athletic/runner build

      • killerbox13

I don’t see it to be a stretch that they have a young Zelda/Zelda hiding out as a boy (sort of a Shiek concept) for this game. I would love it personally, I have no problem with Link taking a vacation. Could this take place during the pre-Skyward Sword era? A time before Link was a Hero and a time when technology was more advanced?

        • Ranmaru

I agree, don’t mind with a break. It also mixes up things and helps deal with the ‘link cliche’. I still think it’s pre-WW. That was a time that the Hero of Time didn’t appear, and someone else had to step up. Otherwise maybe.

        • Melody

Only problem is even as sheik zelda still had zelda features. The hairstyle is a big giveaway that it isnt her. And why make zelda look like link? It doesn’t add up.

  • JCiLee

You know, I have always thought it would be neat if Link ever head a brother in a Zelda game. Lots of story and gameplay implications

  • Anya

How neat would it be if that were Aryll…considering the tunic’s striking similarity to the one Link dons in WW!

  • Melody

Well simple. We loose link I quit playing and I know I’m not the only one. Link is the only male protagonist in a video game that’s any good for fan girls. I truly do hope he’s in the game, and you are him. It’s not LOZ if your not link. Wanna make a similar game, don’t call it LOZ. This is a total bummer.

    • craZ

Now let’s not be hasty ๐Ÿ™‚ (LOTR pun again xD)

    • ZeldaWiiUTakeMyLife

      wow… drastic

      • Melody

        Guess so.

    • Ranmaru

Link isn’t the only protagonist. Who says LOZ needs a male one. :p Sad to see you go, but you have plenty of LoZelda games to play if you want to play as Link. Do you consider Wind Waker of LoZ game btw? :3 Consider the boys. We may want a female protagonist for once. : P Don’t hog all the protagonists. :3

      • Melody

There are so many games out there that are for guys, that it is refreshing to have a good male character like Link.
I’ve thought about it, and I bet in a way this is in some way Link. Why make a guy who looks like link and call him something else? That is just silly.
and as for being a girl, I still don’t think this guy looks like a girl. Just normal anime boy.
Also, how was WW Link not Link? I am confused.
I still say they take Link out I don’t wanna play. Even in MM where they said bye bye zelda you still have Link.I really love playing as Link.
Also just play hyrule Warriors. Plenty of females to play there.
But if we do loose Link, glad someone will miss me.

        • GreenLinkMaster

well, WW Link had no Blood ties to OoT Link, the Link before him. such was said by the King of Red Lions to Jubun. but, how in the world could KRL even know that? ๐Ÿ˜›
and also, you make a good point about MM. Anouma said the only essential staple was Zelda, and yet in MM there was now Zelda! just Link ;P
sure Zelda appeard in a short like 2min flashback, but that was it. she wasn’t actually IN the game! ๐Ÿ˜›

          • Melody

Personally I never saw Link as someone who was a direct dependent of any previous Links. I suppose for some that would work, but I always viewed it as his soul leaving hyrule and returning to the goddesses until he is needed again 1000 later. Like he’s been cursed(or blessed?) Todo that for who knows how long. I think it gives a similar little spin like that in one of my LOZ books. The one leading to skyward sword I believe( previous link is killed)
Maybe I am a bit protective of my favorite hero, but he has bedn there for 25 years-my whole life- and LOZ used to be my ‘out’ as a kid. So I would hate to see him go. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Ryan Haney

When I read that headline, my inner monologue said “Say What!?”.

  • Ty Bayn

Anyone else notice that this character does not have a sword or shield?

    • Daedrium

He does, they’re are on his horse, watch the trailer very carefully

  • raiannstorm

pretty sure it is zelda… for one the character looks feminine and two the weapon is a bow and arrow….

    • Ty Bayn

Zelda is blonde though. This character is not

      • raiannstorm

in the more recent games zeldas hair is notably darker

        • Ty Bayn

Her hair seems pretty light to me

          • taersx

Brown or brownish in Twilight Princess.

          • Chad

I always thought it was a dirty blonde. :3

          • Melody

Even with the different shades, zelda has always had the more “elegant” and pointed features and same hairstyle. That hairstyle belongs to Link. Even in OOT Shiek had zeldas hair. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Pime

      iยดm with you bro

    • chief

That’s sure one ugly Zelda, then.

    • Melody

Then they decided to make zelda look like link with no boobs.*shrug*

  • Pime

it’s zelda, she always fight with a bow and looks to skinny to be a male

    • GreenLinkMaster

I’m a male, I can eat like a mad cow, I’m 5’11 in height and I only weigh like 120. I’m skinny enough to be a female model, but guess wut? I am, infact, a male. and YES, a bit of this Links build could seems a bit perhaps feminine, but it is Link. and he is a boy. I know allot of ppl want to play Zelda, or a girl Link, or just a girl, but Link is always the hero and the players character for a reason. he is THE “link” if it’s not “Link” then it’s not “a link”

      • Ranmaru

Usually he is. Doesn’t mean a LoZ game can’t exit the norms. Consider that there has been a time that the Hero of Time didn’t appear. Did we have such a game? Not yet. If it came down to girl link or zelda, I’d prefer Zelda. I don’t really want to play a girl link… that’s weird for me haha.

  • Juan Luis Rodriguez

I see comment of people saying that there is no sword… but there are actually a sword if you stop the video when he took the third arrow you can see the sword is a little hard to notice but it’s there.

    • Sdudyoy

I’m wondering if your horse/Epona will hold your extra items, so if you wanted to use your bow you would have to run back to her and change them out, same goes for your other items like the hookshot and such, it would be interesting, either way I’m guessing Epona will play a big role in this game because there is so much exploration.

    • Richard Rahl

If you watch it again, and look at it earlier when epona staggers, you can see arrows sticking from that….the ones he shot. It’s a quiver..not a sword.
http://youtu.be/Z6BeAtdoELY?t=28s You can see the feathers from the arrowstickign from the arrow he hasn’t drawn yet.

  • Aaron Glover

While it probably is Link, he doesn’t seem to be the same as we’ve normally seen him. Doesn’t he look a bit more… feminine that usual? Maybe this Link is actually female? With the longer hair, ponytail, eyelashes, more delicate looking face, and seemingly thinner waistline, this could potentially be our first female Link.

  • Chad

I’ve always kind of wanted a female Link to be honest. The Legend of Zelda is essentially a collection of Legends about a hero who is reincarnated throughout a timeline. Who says an instance can’t be female? I’d think it would add to the story. Aryll/brother of link would be great too! I, however, refuse to say that’s princess Zelda. Whoever it is looks nothing like past versions of Zelda. There’s a reason they looked like Link and it has to do with the fact that the character is related to or a different version of the Link we know.

    • Santai Ivy

Finally I see someone who thinks the same! I got so exited the first time I saw the trailer cause I thought he was a she (I still have hope she’s just flatchested to mislead people lol) but then I read lots of people saying that the day that Link becomes a girl they will stop playing TLoZ… seriously… and some of them where actually women… kind of dissapointing people can’t accept a change like that when it could give something so fresh, unique and different to the story.

      • Chad

Yeah it’s pretty sad when people say stuff like that. I don’t think you are a Zelda fan if you refuse to play because of a graphical change or even gender swap. I play zelda because it is unique, fun, and not afraid to make mistakes and try new things. I love how they change the art styles (unlike other AAA games). If they decide to change the gender, so what? It’s still zelda, suck it up or get out!

        • GreenLinkMaster

I absolutely disagree! Link is the Hero! Link is the main Character of the Zelda series! Link is the hero I love! Link is who I want to play! I don’t mind playing Zelda, but if I can’t play Link, I don’t think I can call it a Zelda game. because that’s how Zelda games have always been, and that’s the way I like them. if I can’t play Link, I won’t like it. and it definitely won’t feel anything like a Zelda game to me. and though I love Zelda games, I Love Link more than anything. the game may turn out alright. but I won’t Love it if I can’t be the Hero I love getting to be.
that’s how I am, that’s my opinion on this. if YOU don’t like that, well then fine, you really don’t have to. but don’t go telling ME to “suck it up or get out!” cuz talk like that is going to P off atleast 50% of the whole Zelda fanbase, and you’re just going to escalate another freakin fan war.

EDIT: ok, I admit, I kinda flipped it a bit, but I saw that “suck it up or get out!” thing, and found it very offensive. the last thing any of us need is talk like that. we all love Zelda games, and for different reasons. none of use want to see the things we love changed and/or taken away. so we all have things in the Zelda games we don’t want to change. but we all love Zelda games, so can’t we all just leave it at that and wait for this new game?

          • Chad

Yeah that was more of a joke really, I guess it didn’t come off that way. :/ I was more saying we need to be supportive of Nintendo. They get a lot of crap on a daily basis and it causes them to say things like “If this Zelda isn’t as good as Ocarina of Time then we might just stop making Zelda games” which Miyamoto said when they first revealed Skyward Sword. I don’t know about you but I would rather have an average Zelda game than not have any more at all. I also want to clear this up. If Link stopped being Link completely then I would understand your anger but a gender swapped Link would still BE Link just a different incarnation so yeah I apologize but I hold by the rest of what I said. haha and I’ll put an EDITon my earlier post to clarify haha.

          • GreenLinkMaster

well now I kinda feel bad for goin off >.>

          • Ranmaru

I replied to this but it was in holding. Hmm. Anyways, I want to just give you one counter-point. You say Link is always the hero, but you have forgotten Wind Waker. You didn’t actually play as Link, you played as a kid named Link trying to be as cool as him. He wasn’t the hero of time. Yet you played as him. I did too. I was totally fine with it too. So I think a different direction can be good still, as long as it is interesting. I forgot about Wind Waker ‘Link’ up until posting this hehe.

          • Melody

Dude….he was link. Thats all. He looked like link, acted like link, sounded like link….he was link. They even call him link on the official website.

          • GreenLinkMaster

it was Link. he is not of Blood Relation to the previous Links, but he is Link. he is the Hero of winds. and then his descendant, Also Link rises to be the Hero of new Hyrule when it and its Zelda are in danger. as far as I can see, he was simply the beginning in a new line of Links. ๐Ÿ˜›

          • Ranmaru

Ah. That’s what confused me. I am ok with a different kind of hero, hero of winds, hero of time, hero of farts, whatever. :3

          • Melody

I agree. There is no need to be that way and if we’re knocking off characters od changing genders, to what extent can we still call it Zelda? There are many ways to “change it up without omitting some peoples favorite characters.
And in my opinion, its not enough to make a similar game, and slap the namd Zelda on it and call it good. May as well call something like shadow od colossus or dark souls zelda also in that case.
That aside, wouldn’t it be cool if it were an early dark link who becomes evi? And Link is somehow tied to him?( like a brothrr or theit souls are linked -eeeh eeeeh?;)-)
But really. People need to not be so cruel over the Internet so much.

    • Ranmaru

At first I disagreed but re-reading, I see what you mean. This is what I don’t want. The character link, being a female. Meaning, it’s weird to see Link ‘turn into’ a female on a whim. It mixes up the true identity of Link. Is Link now just some bland putty you can form into whatever you want?

NOW THEN. What I am fine with, is the next hero of time down the line, being which ever gender. So if the next hero of time is female, that’s cool, and I do think that could give a direction to the story. Now this person is born and is original, and is named Link to honor the true Link, is fine. It’ll be confusing though. But this won’t be the LINK. Just a female who takes on the name Link. (It’s the same as a new male taking on the name of Zelda) Yet I would prefer a different name that would be unique to this female. Not just a female version of Link. I would prefer a hero of time that is their own person. Also do away with the green tunic. She can use her own iconic dress/tunic as it wouldn’t matter, otherwise she’d just be another clone of Link and that being, another version of Link. … I have said too much. xD

I disagree. It can be Zelda. Who is to say she is even a princess here? Again, forget about a different version of Link. It’s possible the Hero of Time didn’t even appear. This could be Zelda trying to appear like a man (and in a time that a hero is needed, it wouldn’t be too far fetched to see this, Zelda only disguised herself as Sheik in OoT because she had to hide, but this time she could Sheik up to be proactive instead) Also, if you were a developer, why make a character that isn’t even his/her own individual. How can fans even relate to some clone.

So what is it? Do you prefer a hero of time (or HoT wannabe) that is female, or do you simply want a female version of Link? (Meaning, Link actually being a female, not a female just taking on his name) I want this character to be her own person, not some bland remake with a gender swap. Stick with it all the way.

I respect your opinion and preferences though.

      • MikeL

Maybe I’m misunderstanding, but are you under the impression that all previous Zelda games feature the same Link?

        • GreenLinkMaster

yes. all, official, cannon, NINTENDO MADE Zelda games, feature Link. ๐Ÿ˜›

          • MikeL

            Re-read my comment, buddy

          • Chad

The way I see it, Link is the same Link in every game but not the same body. He is simply a Reincarnation of the first Link and is sent by the Goddesses to aid in the destruction of the main villain. I think this new game will explain this a bit more, it seemed to be from the era where technology was more advanced (The robot in the trailer.) I think they are going to place the game either before Skyward Sword or somewhere in between creation and Twilight Princess. There is a chance we might see the first Link. Although this is all purely speculation on my part.

  • Jose Ernesto Zarzuela Guzmรกn

What if you can customize Link like in other games you can create a character that is different between everybody else character, they have to add restrictions, I guess.

  • Anubhav Kumar

This is just a 14 year old link, that’s it guys.

  • Fuzzylittlebastard

    What if its both? o.O

  • Victor Herrera

I think what he wants to say is that no one said it was Link because remember, Link is supposed to be you (the player)

  • nefisto

This Link looks like a girl o.O

  • Sdudyoy

Why do people think he looks like a girl? I don’t get it, what if this is Link’s younger brother?

    • craZ

That’s what I said too ๐Ÿ™‚ Like you’ll see me post, I said they could be a duo team? That’d be an interesting thing, but we’ll see.

    • Abdul-Azeez Azeez

because he looks like a girl

  • Theodore Homdrom

I’m sure it’s Link. He’s younger, and come on guys, he’s most of the time looked pretty feminine, but he’s been older. Downgrade his age a bit and yeah, he looks even more feminine. I think it’s just the art style and a cryptic quote from Aonuma that’s throwing people off, but I think that quote is more pulling our leg/being mysterious just for fun than anything else. The art style’s very anime-ish, and it sure looks like a younger hero – hence, we have a Link. I could be wrong (duh), but just saying.

    • Sdudyoy

Link has never really been the most masculine looking character, he is usually a kid, so it makes sense that he looks a bit feminine, he kinda reminds me of the Link to the past link art.

  • CEObrainz

I hope it’s not Link, as I didn’t really like that (if it were Link’s design). It would be amazing if the game allowed for you to travel in a small party, perhaps with the feature of local/online co-op….but that’s thinking too far ahead. I really like everything else we saw in terms of visuals but I’m disappointed in the lack of gameplay. Unless there is more to see today/tomorrow?

    • craZ

Yeah! The Fellowship of the Triforce. It is Link’s burden to carry, and that dude there is Link’s brother, Linkolas (see what I did there). He may have others, and he has to get stuff or whatever to fight the main villain, Ganon-Sauron, to bring peace to the land once more. Hehe, sorry, that was just too much fun to write.

      • CEObrainz

That would be a fun game though….imagine the possibilities?

        • craZ

Yeah, Mout Dorf, the Tringforce of Power, etc ๐Ÿ˜€

      • Ranmaru

        AND MY MEGATON HAMMER.

  • Alekoukos

My bet would be Link’s son. Though one thing that puzzles me is the shield which bears the Sheikah symbol and has a striking resemblance to Hero of Time’s shield in Twilight Princess.
Gawd, a Majoras Mask sequel, explaining the return of Hero’s lineage back to Hyrule!!
PS: As for the feminin characteristics… typical case of “kawai shounen male character”…. (ex. Cavendish: http://24.media.tumblr.com/59b9f770e63bdca3dc646c4b1685a4d9/tumblr_mkofhnCOOc1rx964ho1_r2_500.png )

  • Mark Stokes

If that is link, shouldn’t the bow be in his other hand?

    • Daedrium

Although most links were left handed SS and TP (wii) had a right handed link, so this guy can still be link.

  • craZ

Link’s brother, for sure. Just think, Link with his sword and Lunk (terrible name, but coming up with stuff on the fly) with his Hawkeye-bow, Hyrule-edition. If that’s the case, there must be some major enemy.

  • Trinosaur

If this turns out to be a girl, my happiness levels will shoot through the roof

  • Lucas Miller

It’s Links son (or daughter) game takes place just after Skyward sword and my have optional two player mode.

    thats what I think

  • Jason Centofanti

I think it’s Zelda, definitely Hylian with pointy ears but has a thin waist, thin arms, small body compared to horse, a blue ear ring, long hair with a pony tail which all makes it look a chick. Also no sword and right handed, Link is left handed. This could be a true “Legend of Zelda” game. I think they intentionally blurred the line by making the character look feminine. Easily the most mysterious Zelda trailer ever and beautiful graphics too.

    • margar

Link had blue earrings in OoT and I think in other games too. Link has always been thin anda little androgenous.

  • Richard Rahl

This is not Link, this is Link’s son..named Link

  • margar

Maybe you’ll get to customize a character and that was just a link-esque player character for trailer purposes? (Female link if you so choose?!)

  • rusVan

This is SO obvious! Its Colin! He’s all grown up and this time he has to save Link! This must be Twilight Princess 2!!

  • rusVan

Duh, its Colin!!! I thought you guys knew your Legend of Zelda!
It this game (Twilight Princess 2) Colin saves Link, which leads to a rubber match in Twilight Princess 3 where Colin goes all dark and Link has to ‘defeat’ Colin, and save him from himself. In Twilight Princess 4 Colin and Link ride along side one another to save Hyrule.

  • Anthony Moseley

Definitely interesting if it’s not Link. Aonuma, you sly so-and-so, you sure know how to get people talking.

Yeah, I noticed this Link was more feminine, but I simply thought it was because of the anime styled artwork. Now, however, I wonder if this Link could actually be female. I’m not going to be too hasty about it, but it’s very well a possibility.

  • Duncan Walden

Well here’s a thought: What if this game is set in the timeline where the hero dies, and this is a Link-like character who ISN’T Link? The first non-Link hero? The only prerequisite that Aonuma said a Legend of Zelda game needs is Zelda, and she doesn’t even have to be a princess. Everything else is just fluff, sadly, including Link. So what if this is a DRASTIC step away from LOZ conventions? Personally, I think it’s link, but who knows?

    • Ranmaru

I agree. Also lol first time. I keep forgetting myself (and I think everyone else does) that Wind Waker Link ISN’T Link either. Or is he? ;[ (He certainly isn’t the hero of time)

      • Melody

He is link. Just not nloof related to OOT link.

  • Anthony Moseley

If that’s not Link, it doesn’t mean that Link won’t appear in the game. It kind of makes me think of Kingdom Hearts 2, where you start out playing the game as Roxas, and then transition to Sora or possibly Fable 2, where you start out as a younger version of the protagonist before maturing after a few years. Definitely plenty of possibilities, but my money is on that’s Link and Aonuma is just getting people talking (which is a good thing obviously).

    • Melody

I agree with you. He looks like link 100% besides being young looking and more feminine.
It’s been awhile since we had an aging Link. Outfit looks similar to WW Link starts out as also. And the designs are similar I think.
It would be cool if thid somehow became DL or something and Link has to figbt him later on.*shrug* either way, still isn’t a LOZ game without him.

  • StarkeyGamer

I think a decent theory is that he is the child of Link and Tetra, and that is why he’s wearing the blue shirt. Hopefully we can still wear the traditional green outfit though

    • Ranmaru

Hmm. It’s also possible this is pre-WW. I would say that your theory is legit because it was just casual wear that Link was wearing and not something handed down. (Unless it was just secretly handed down through their family line anyways but not a care happened because pajamas)

Two more points. If it were post-WW, there would need to be a flood. Unless it all actually dried up and this game focuses on re-inhabiting.

I can see this be a Pre-WW with no hero of time appearing, like it said in WW. Instead someone else tried to step up to the plate yet failed because they weren’t the Hero of Time, just a HoT wannabe. I can see that being Zelda. Or a descendant
      .

I just heard on Zelda Informer that Aonuma was just joking and that it was Link. So, for me at least that’s a relief ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Nayru

I’m not sure who is in the trailer, but I thought that the cloak looked a bit like zelda’s from twilight princess

  • Aru Karleson

My guess is that since they want to do a drastically different Zelda, that the main character is more… customize-able. We might be able to CHOOSE link’s gender this time around, and thus the Link we see is more vague in appearance.

Also, we might have clothing/hair/tunic options in this game more so than in the last.

Or it could be a cut-scene or character in Link’s past. All are pretty open at this point. My guess is for the customization.

The curse said “those who share the blood of the goddess and the spirit of the hero…” so if this isn’t Link, then maybe you play as a male descendant of Zelda who is this games incarnation of Hylia and the Spirit of the hero is in another character you work with.

I mean in the trailer he uses a bow an arrow as a main weapons and has what looks to be a light arrow. It’s very possible this is a direct descendant of Link and Zelda which is why this character still looks so much like Link.

    • heroofmasks

true but remember in oot and mm ur only allowed to use the bow while on ur horse they coulda brought that back

  • Darkstar

This could be the “Hero of Men” spoken of in the Minish Cap’s back story, or it could be a new hero with Link’s genes. So far this looks to be either a prequel or sequel to Skyward Sword. (I’m leaning more towards a sequel since the high tech weapons returned and Hyrule is more open, probably from being explored by the settlers)

  • Keimori

I speculate that’s it’s a female “Link”… that or Aonuma is yanking out chains.

  • darminified

    I hope it’s Zelda! She’s been needing a level-up in badass-ness

  • Oli414

Link is left handed right? In Twilight princess he was right handed but that was because of controls….

  • Shaxie

    I hope it is Link…Plz Nintendo <33333

  • Renata

I’d say if people want a female link, play Bayonetta 2.

  • Loki

Personally I think you will choose your gender in this one, Link will be in the game, but I think a new hero is taking the spotlight

  • LukesAlike

    Rook’s rike Rink to me…

  • Michael Marshall

I know i’m a little late here, but i would guuess Link may have a brother in this game?
