If you caught the explosion of new Super Smash Bros. 4 screenshots that appeared shortly after the spectacular Smash Bros. Direct earlier this month, you may recall seeing the Super Leaf debut as a new item.

In today’s Smash “pic of the day”, series director Masahiro Sakurai presents us with a trio of characters who have equipped the new power-up. Princess Peach, Toon Link and Marth each stand with an adorable set of tanooki ears and tail.

He says on Miiverse:

“With the Super Leaf, any fighter can have ears and a tail. You can also float in the air by pressing the jump button. We’re still figuring out whether you’ll be able to attack with the tail…”

    Cuteness explosion!

That’s too much “かわいらしさ” for one picture. Now I just need to see Kirby wearing one….

  • Satan

    Tanooki Ganon.

    • Professor Oak

Ganon hahasn’t even been confirmed yet

      • Blueberrymuffnking

It would surprise me if he isn’t in the game. 😛

        • Professor Oak

I hope they don’t bring him back without a Unique new Moveset. I would rather have no Ganan then Captain Ganon

          • Sdudyoy

Personally I would rather have Ghirahim as a character, I think he could have a much more unique move set.

          • CEObrainz

I see Ghirahim having more chances as an Assist Trophy than playable character, if he were to be a new smasher though I’d be over the moon…

          • CEObrainz

I hope that the reason that both Ganondorf and Captain Falcon haven’t been shown yet is because Sakurai wants to properly make each character unique yet still feel somewhat familiar to use.

          • Professor Oak

Don’t care if they change Cptn. Falcon, but Ganon Should NEVER have been a clone of Captain Falcon. His moves were EXACTLY the same, except slower and stronger, and does NOT represent the true Ganon

          • CEObrainz

If Ganondorf had a truly new move-set, I’d hope it would be a mixture of swordsmanship and magic. A mix between his powers from Ocarina of Time and his sword skills in Twilight Princess. That would be fun for me anyway….

          • Professor Oak

Exactly, there is no reason he should have been a clone.

          • CEObrainz

If you look at Brawl it was one step in the right direction to remove clones. Fox and Falco had enough differences, Wolf was completely different, etc. Hopefully this game with help from Namco will get rid of this Clone business for good.

I completely agree and have felt this way for ages. Ganondorf is a completely unrelated to Captain Falcon and deserves an original moveset.

          • Blueberrymuffnking

Agreed. I feel as though he would be good with a mix between using dark magic for long ranged and his sword for close combat.
