In late March, Sonic Lost World surprised the world and released free downloadable content that featured The Legend of Zelda series. Now, in an interview with 4GamerSonic Lost World producer Takashi Iizuka gave the reasoning behind having Sonic dress in Link’s classic Tunic in Lost World’s “Zelda Zone”. Whereas in the Yoshi DLC for Sonic Lost World where Sonic merely runs around and collects eggs, there are players that may not have been familiar with the Zelda series and could have felt that the terrain was a generic, over-sized area as opposed to a depiction of Hyrule Field. This is why Iizuka felt it was necessary to garb Sonic in Link’s all-too-familiar green tunic and give Sonic Lost World’s “Zelda Zone” some familiarity.

“While talking with the designers, we were wondering how we could have Sonic wear these clothes and look normal while covering his spikes”

“While talking with the designers, we were wondering how we could have Sonic wear these clothes and look normal while covering his spikes,” Iizuka said. “In any case, I was definitely worried at the time of designing.”

In any case, the end result is a fantastic display of a crossover that many people never thought would have happened. Would you like to see more Sonic/Zelda crossover DLC, or perhaps even a crossover game in the future?

  • GreenLinkMaster

oh deffinetly! I LUZ LOZ! lol, is it’s Zelda themed, I’m all for it. as long as it doesn’t come out a mess (glares over at the CDI characters)

  • CEObrainz

I wouldn’t mind more Zelda related DLC for this came, but a crossover doesn’t sit well with me. I’m not sure that a full game would fell good to play.

    • GreenLinkMaster

right. a full game cross over? not even sure how they’d do that. and I’m not talkin story-wise. but I suppose if they could find a way to do it, and do it well, then sure! but of corse it’d be for a Nintendo system, cuz I don’t see Nintendo traverse another non Nintendo system again. especially after what happened last time >.>

      • CEObrainz

Oh for sure, If anyone can make a weird concept fun it’s Nintendo. But assuming a game be made, it would be a spin-off not connected to the series like Hyrule Warriors.

        • GreenLinkMaster

right, it’d be hard to imagine fitting a game like that into the timeline XD
plus it would have to mean that their worlds are connected somehow or in the same universe, in which case every one would expect to see more cross releated content in both series through the future. and then expect more cross overs between these and other seriesez 😛 or atleast cross content with other series. ez. 😛

          • CEObrainz

That would be insane; imagine having both versions of the Triforce, the seven chaos emeralds or the super emeralds in one game?

          • GreenLinkMaster

O-o total, reality ripping chaos dude.

          • CEObrainz

lol, now I kinda want to see that…

          • GreenLinkMaster

I can’t imagine all those crazy powerfull artifacts in one place bringing anything but that. but it’s also one of the only reasons I could imagine their worlds being pulled together. imagine Ganon and Eggman working together. better yet, Gannon attempting to even tolerate Eggman for more than 2 minutes. XD

          • CEObrainz

Well if he can work with Bowser (to an extent) he can work with Eggman. The real question is, who will betray whom first?

          • GreenLinkMaster

yah. but who knows? maybe they’ll be able to stick it out together up until the end when the heros are about the reach them, and they’re argueing over who’s fault it is.

          • CEObrainz

That would be quite entertaining to watch as a show rather than a game. But our heroes would have to go through a lot, learning the others strengths and weaknesses.

I can imagine enough comedic scenes between the two especially as one talks quite a bit and the other is almost always silent.

          • GreenLinkMaster

XD ikr? Sonic always trying to rag on him and and talk about himself all awesomely like a child, While like just keeps quiet and takes it like a man. 😛
and also, gannon has plenty of text-talk scenes, so he can talk right back even tho Eggman has an actual voice.

          • CEObrainz

One character speaks with text, the other with an actual voice. I’d applaud anyone that can pull that off properly.

I’d also image Sonic would think he’s in another story book world (like Sonic and the Black Knight). Link may see him as a monster conjured up by Ganondorf and attack immediately.

          • GreenLinkMaster

perhaps. tho monsters also usually don’t talk, and if there’s anything sonic doesn’t do, the first is that he doesn’t not talk. XD that would make him more of an oddity as a monster than anything 😛 and Link has met some REALLY strange creatures before. I believe there was an island of Lizard people who weren’t really Lizafos monsters. so who knows?

          • CEObrainz

Island of Lizard people? Where was this?

But I think you can assume the monsters in Zelda games do talk, but usually have nothing to say to Link and just attack them. Otherwise it makes less sense how they follow orders. Even in games like OOT the deku-scrubs could speak to Link, so I don’t think Link would be phased as much by Sonic.

          • GreenLinkMaster

the island of lizard people was in one of the oracle games I think.

          • CEObrainz

Those are the two I haven’t played, I’ll check them out if I can eventually download on the Wii U.
