Nintendo has been a regular at the PAX shows. Many of you may remember Nintendo’s Wonderful 101 panel last year at PAX Prime in Seattle. With PAX East just around the corner, many would expect an appearance from Nintendo, given that they have attended every single PAX East since its debut in 2010. Unfortunately, they are sitting this one out.

Nintendo of America issued the following statement:

“Interacting directly with our fans and letting them play our games firsthand is a key component of our approach. That doesn’t include PAX East this year, but we will offer our fans a variety of opportunities to get their hands on Nintendo products in 2014. Keep an eye on our social media pages for more information about where we’ll be and what you can play.”

Despite their absence, a few eShop indie developers such as Renegade Kid and Ackk Studios will be in attendance. Jools Watsham of Renegade Kid tweeted that they also intend to set up a lounge where visitors can sit and play 3DS.

This isn’t that big of a deal, Sony among other developers will also skip this convention. Nintendo are most likely preparing for E3 anyway.
