The Oculus Rift has become a home for many recent Zelda projects lately. Ocarina of Time’s Kokiri Forest and a demo of the original The Legend of Zelda have recently been developed as proof of concepts on the Oculus Rift. And now a proof of concept of The Wind Waker has been developed for the Oculus Rift. The demo isn’t perfect; items such as the Bow and Hookshot don’t work correctly, and there are certain issues with objects rendering in the distance. But despite these graphical issues, the swordplay looks phenomenal, and flying around on the Deku Leaf looks like it would be a blast. It’s also wonderful to see the Zelda series getting so much love with the virtual reality treatment lately. You can check out the video below to see The Wind Waker in all of its virtual reality glory.

As much as I’d like to play any Zelda with the Oculus Rift or better yet a Zelda designed for it, I’d rather play Metroid Prime 1 – 3 as it fits the tech perfectly.

  • Want. So bad.

I would get this if A. occasions where you needed a third person view were changed and B. it was the hd remake. Regardless, this is awesome!
