A Link to the Past has been released today on the North American Wii U eShop for $7.99. The Super Nintendo title was originally released in North America in 1992 and is still considered by some to be the greatest Zelda game of all time. It was also recently released on the European eShop on December 12th. Will A Link to the Past be yet another title on the long list of Zelda games that are currently dominating the North American eShop charts? We’ll have to wait a week to find out!

Read on to check out the official North American eShop trailer!

Update: If you bought the game from the Wii’s eShop, you can get yourself a discount on the Wii U version if you have the system transfer data (thanks, Reddit) –Reece

I have this downloaded on my Wii, is there any way I can buy it again for a discount? (Don’t want to transfer my data from the Wii to the Wii U)

You do have a discount, but you have to transfer your Wii data unfortunately. The discount makes it $1.50 I believe. I’m in the same boat as you.

I had a feeling that would be the case, thanks for your reply! I just want to keep my downloadable games on the Wii, since I still use it to play Gamecube games… Wonder if there’s a way I can transfer JUST Link to the Past

Love a Link to the Past. My first Zelda game and easily my favorite game in the series. I’m sorry but I still haven’t found a Zelda game I like better.

I have it on my SNES! I hope some younger Zelda fans may be able to experience it for the first time though, it’s an amazing game.
