Games Like Zelda

In this episode of “Games Like Zelda” we talk about one of the most popular “Zelda clones” and one of the first to take a stab at 3D Zelda: Okami.

If you’ve never played this amazing game or have and want to revel in the nostalgia, view the video after the jump!

Okami's soundtrack is to die for, and so is its art style! Youtube "The Sun Rises" πŸ˜€

  • Bastian just keeps aging in each video :p

I will definitely get this game, just let me beat Journey first <3

I absolutely adore this game. The controls on the wii, at least in my opinion were very natural and complemented the expirience of the game wonderfully. The characters are very lovable, and if it weren't for the zelda series it would undoubtably be my most favorite game in the world.

I only picked up Ookami because I saw a wolf on the front, I thought "Hey I loved running around as a wolf in Twilight Princess, let me check this game out". Then I played it. Four times consecutively. While I didn't think Ookami was overly Zelda-ish, I did think it was one of the greatest games ever created.

Although, if you check out the layout of Tsuta Ruins (first "dungeon" in Ookami) and the layout of the Ancient Cistern, you'll notice they have a few uncanny similarities. Seriously, if you have Ookami and Skyward Sword, go and carefully check out the dungeons–even the bosses are similar (in the idea that they have a ton of arms).

Okami had an epic 20 minute intro/prologue (It felt that long anyway) and it really seemed like Wind Waker's at first, but was a bit better with all the unique visuals and story telling. It's by far one of the most interesting games I've ever played, and the art style is amazing. It's like Twilight princess mixed with Wind Waker. The music was incredable too, some of the most memorable next to Zelda's.

I reached the last dungeon/castle and have yet to beat it since I only got to rent it for a week. Nonetheless, i will complete it some time this year.

I have to admit it, Twilight Princess is either my favorite or tied for favorite Zelda game yet. Only Skyward Sword with it's killer Sword control is able to hold against it! Yeah, I'm a TP fan πŸ™‚

Heck yeah Okami! Easily one of my favorite games. I STRONGLY urge any and all Zelda fans to pick it up and give it a try, it's an amazing experience.
