Despite its huge popularity and rave reviews, Skyward Sword ranks only ninth in November game software sales within the United States.  The only Nintendo title to make the top ten list, this most recent installment in the Zelda series has been out for less than a month and when viewed objectively, has done very well in sales.  Another point in Skyward Sword’s defense is that except for Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, which ranks seventh in overall sales, the eight titles higher on the list are multiplatform (the top four, alone, appear on the 360, PS3, and PC).  Overall, this is nothing to worry about, as Skyward Sword is selling well in the both the US and the global markets.  Hit the jump to see the full list of the ten best-selling games in the US of November 2011.

  1. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (360, PS3, Wii, PC)
  2. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (360, PS3, PC)
  3. Battlefield 3 (360, PS3, PC)
  4. Assassin’s Creed: Revelations (360, PS3, PC)
  5. Just Dance 3 (360, Wii)
  6. Madden NFL ’12 (360, PS3, Wii, PSP, PS2)
  7. Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception (PS3)
  8. Saints Row: The Third (360, PS3, PC)
  9. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (Wii)
  10. Batman: Arkham City (360, PS3, PC)

I'm really disappointed… COD, a repetitive francise, being number one I mean.

    • Pita

It is because of the huge amount of people who don't understand what real games are, and play nothing but FPS while trashing on good games like Zelda simply because of the graphics

      • LuciusOptimus

I agree with that 101%. Call of Duty games are far to repetitive.

  • alrightmullet

    madden. over zelda. i mean…… come on…..

    • Pita

lol, i'm giving up on the gaming world, how did madden beat Zelda…
well at least Zelda is crushing in reviews AND won G4's game of the year… so yeah

  • joe

Ahh, the best action rpg of this generation, Skyrim, is getting the sales it deserves. How many spots did I count above Zelda????? Seven HUH? Skyward Sword is a game that will be long forgotten next year, while Skyrim's legacy will be talked about for ages.

    • Peter

I don't think so… Skyward Sword's been getting praise left and right, and is even said to surpass Ocarina of Time as the greatest Zelda game of all time… Has Ocarina of Time been forgotten after more than 10 years? Nope. It's still getting praise today. Skyward Sword is one of those games that will be remembered for a long time after this.

      • Sanity's_Theif

Well I've already forgotten a good chunk of Skyward Sword, and I just beat it a few days ago, nothing about the game outside skydiving is memorable, most of what I remember is just annoying things like Fi, fetch quests, etc

    • Drew

      You know it.

    • Noob

Then why the he’ll are you even on this site if you obviously aren’t a Zelda fan and hate the games retard

      • Banooru

I agree with your position, but try not to use derogatory comments on this site guy, or you get thumbed down.

    • Pita

not realy., I played skyrim and already don't care about it anymore. Zelda held my intrest much better. Skyrim is an amazing game, but Zelda games are they type you will play over and over.

    • ZeldaGurl_

Your comment sickens me, it really does. The fact that you came here to bash one of the best games in video game history, right next to Ocarina of Time, shows just how ignorant and arrogant you truly are.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is a game that will not only be remembered for it's full-scale motion controls, puzzles, and storyline, but it will also be remembered for its heart-felt musical score, and the emotion that was put into the making of this game. The amount of heart and soul that went into this game's making is incredible, and it's something you won't find in any other gaming franchise. With Skyward Sword, you can go back in time, to the begining of the Legend, and you can live through what made this series special.

The Legend of Zelda will always be a series to remember, and you shouldn't bash it's products when in reality you have no idea what you're talking about.

  • Just Dance outranked Skyward Sword? Lamentable.

    • Banooru

That would make a lot more sense if there were a "Ghirahim mode" in just dance.

  • BlairShadow

To me it doesn't matter what place it got i just like zelda, in my eyes its number one, to hell with some statistic chart

Call of Duty was first? I would be fine if it were Skyrim, but Call of Duty?! Why?

  • Deal with it kids. SS is great but most people don't want the lighthearted games.

  • Clay

I think we also need to realize that out of the list, SS is the only game to have just a single console. So in that regards it's doing great. Of course the other games would have higher sales because not only are they pretty popular they have the advantage of being on multiple consoles. Maybe if SS was on the 360,PS3, and Wii it could have been number 1.

    • Clay

      sorry, other than Uncharted 3

  • Sanity's_Theif

A few of those lack of sales are due to people playing the game at my house, and not liking it, from what I've seen, the average person is turned off by this game despite having bought past Zeldas like OOT and TP

  • bob

Casual games and hardcore games are the rave. A hardcore game on a casual console obviously isn't going to sell well, hopefully that changes for the wii U. Also, Americans aren't crazy about cartoon graphic Zelda's, as one of the main reasons TP sold so well and WW dragged behind in sales in the US was the graphics and the ppl's perception of what it meant.
