Famitsu is Japan’s premier video game magazine, and its reviews are highly respected within the gaming community.  They’ve finally released their rating for Skyward Sword – it has received a very rare and distinguished perfect 40 (with all four reviewers scoring it a 10).  Only sixteen video games have ever done so well (the very first being Ocarina of Time, back in 1998; The Wind Waker is the most recent Zelda game to do so well).

Even for a Zelda title, a perfect score is not guaranteed–after all, before now only two Zelda games have ever gotten a 40.  This is more good news for those who are expecting Skyward Sword to be the best Zelda title ever, and great reassurance for those who are still skeptical of its worth.

All I will say is it’s nice to see the effort and development time put in by the development team being rewarded. I am certain the game will be as engrossing, rich and entertaining as always. Roll on Nov 18th.

  • I believe the most accurate remark for such an accomplishment is "perfect score for the perfect game."

  • Strange_friend

And once again, skyward sword is the best( like we didn't know that lol), but… when will be my time to give a review( sniffle), I can't wait any longer!

    Gamespot says 7.5.

    • nope

they gave MW3 an 8.5, their opinion is invalid.

      • Alex

Famitsu's opinion is invalid as well, as they gave Pokemon Black and White a perfect score.

        • UnforgottenLegend

A game that has surpassed the sales of gold and silver remakes and soon, the diamond and pearl games
Yeah I see Why Is Invalid Famitsu's Opinion

          • Alex

Game sales aren't a reliable measure of quality, either. But Black and White haven't surpassed Diamond and Pearl yet (and if they do, it won't be by much), let alone the original Gold and Silver.

Black and White aren't perfect games; it is plain to see that Game Freak made sure to leave room for future improvements. The fact that Famitsu apparently don't think that the series can get any better is staggering.

I agree with, not only that Gamestop is just a load of whiny idiots. ~~~~

  • ABAZELDAFAN

GOOD TOO SEE A PERFECT SCORE

    • Fierce Diety

Pthhhhhh. what else could it recieve? This is Skyward Sword we're talking about!

  • A_LINK_IN_TIME

Skyward Sword's Platinum rank is well deserved!

  • mario_master

damn. i have no words to describe what i feel. i think i broke myself waiting for this game. maybe i will get lucky and my local wal-mart will give it to me early. i wish i had another $20 for the bundle but i will be happy with just the game and cd. -_- i broke my emotions i need help soon

  • Dan

Why don't you guys actually play the game first before agreeing with the score.

    • Sinclair

Agreed Dan… no one will really know what it is like until they play it… Famitsu obviously like it, so that's good… but i'm sure the game will polarise many people… i for one have good feelings about this game, but will save my opinion until i play the game…

    • Zany Zant

Cuz it's a Zelda game. I mean, do we really need to play it to know it's awesome?

      • prada

If its zelda its at least an 8(I'm looking at four swords). It doesn't take much to get it to a ten

  • Loard Kiwi

I couldn't wait , I had to download it and get a taste of it, I'm playing it on my PC. I've only passed the first dungeon, I wish next week would hurry up so I can actually buy the limited edition.. I'm trying so hard not play it till the release.. I still won't be playing it on the wii though, dolphin looks so much better then it.

Also this is the best Zelda so far imo it deserves that 40/40 (like you didn't know that already though), its charming, cute and funny, and the combat is so fun!

    Edge: 10/10
    IGN: 10/10
    Famitsu: 40/40

all opposing arguments fare not only invalid. They are also completely stupid

famitsu magazine is the most well respected and fair and also toughest games ratings board. If they like it, then there is no doubt the game's great. their word is law. and of course, it's zelda. what do you expect.
