In an announcement made earlier today, Nintendo of Australia set a release date and price for the upcoming Nintendo 3DS console.

The console will be released on March 31, about seven weeks away, and only 4 days after it is released in the US. It will retail at $349.95 AU, and will be available in two colors: cosmo black and aqua blue.

EB Games, an international gaming retailer popular in New Zealand, has listed 3DS consoles as $449.00 NZ each. A release date of March 31 was announced, meaning that the consoles will be imported from Australia.  Have fun with your new consoles, Austraila!

  • Oh..wow. I don't know how much money that is equivalent to in the US. Poor Australia…getting it after everyone else. *Thinks: It's alright cousin Andrew who lives in Austrailia and will feel bad when I call him and tell him I got the 3DS.* Oh, first!

Our dollar is at parity with the US, so it's the same amount.

In fact, as of right now, it would cost $353.013 USD.

    • Ariel

Yeah, for a few weeks or months now we've been hovering slightly above the U.S dollar.

And we still have to dish out $350 for it. Not happy, but I'll still get it…… after E3 when the good games come out.

  • Siaarn

D: Daammn I was hoping it'd be a bit cheaper, but still, it's worth it.

I don't know why Adelaide gets the short end of the stick all the time. They are touring the 3DS around Australia, and Adelaide is, of course, last. Normally I wouldn't care about that, but by the time they are actually holding the event in Rundle Mall, the 3DS would have been in stores for a few days.

    • supergiraloz

I agree, adelaide get's nothing first, probably because there's nothing to do over here, the only thing adelaide is great for is the royal adelaide show,
(plus the fact that were the NON-convict settlement)
i don't know why, but nintendo seems to frown upon adelaide, it's either that or all of the stores in adelaide are USELESS at getting games out on time 🙁

    • Astarael

Don't worry, there are going to be two events in Adelaide. The one in Rundle Mall is only the second; the first one will be at Marion Westfield from the 18th to the 20th of March, more than a week before the 3DS launch in Australia. 🙂

  • Cloverplayer

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Skyward Sword is coming out in a month and a half!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • cloverplayer

oh never mind I thought this was ocarina of time 3ds… 🙁

      • Astarael

Sorry to say, even Ocarina of Time 3DS won't be released until after the E3 event in June.

  • lulooo

    Expensive! Dang!

  • I hate that things are so expensive in Australia, but at least now those of ZU can start planning.

  • QueenxLink

    Yowza, that's expensive for Austrailia…

  • I wonder if Nintendo was being too general or maybe secretive because they never said that Skyward Sword would come out after OoT 3ds for AMERICAN release date!

  • skilar

lies!!! i got an email form nintendo saying it would be relaesed march 27 2011 for 249.99 information profied from http://www.nintendo.com/3ds
