You may have seen or heard of the Gamestop potential release date list for the 3DS, which claimed a June 2nd release for Ocarina of Time. Many were skeptical due to GameStop’s untrustworthy past in giving accurate release dates, but unfortunately it looks like though they were close to the mark on this one – the game will be released after this year’s E3 (which goes from June 7th-9th).
Russ Frushtick of MTV News recently spoke with Reggie Fils-Aime, the President and CEO of Nintendo of America, about Nintendo’s big franchise games like Super Mario, Legend of Zelda, and Kid Icarus being absent from the 3DS launch line-up.
“Mario, Zelda, all of those titles are coming,” said Fils-Aime. “From our perspective, we like to launch titles when they’re ready. And so they’ll be ready, they’ll be ready soon. Just not in that initial time period of late March to early June.“
Fils-Aime then stated that more information about the big franchise games would definitely be given at E3 and that the releases of those games would come afterwards. So, this means that we are looking at post-E3 releases for Mario Kart 3DS, Kid Icarus: Uprising, and of course, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
