He has quite a (X-mas) gift.

We’ve all heard covers of Zelda songs, some good – some very bad.

However, the cover we discovered today is very, very good!

Not only is it a pitch-perfect recreation of the final credits theme to The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, it is inventive (drinking glasses for percussion?) and visually awesome as you watch each part – preformed by the same individual – happening live before your eyes.

All in all, there are nineteen different parts, ranging on everything from a tin whistle to a tin pan, and each is played to perfection.

Just who is this masterful music artist? His name is Fredrik Larsson, but musically he is known as FreddeGedde (a nickname, with “grรคdde” meaning the food “cream” in Swedish), a 24 year old from Gรคvle, Sweden. He has several other cover songs up on his YouTube channel but he also has quite a few original songs and is working on writing his first album-length set of music at the moment.

Without further ado, check out the fantastic cover and video after the jump!

  • ZoraMikau

    That was absolutly amazing!!

  • ncocs

    That was amazing.

    • ncocs

      That was not sarcastic.

  • fawfull

first! finally! anyways this is a very good song and I found a redux featuring a level from some game I know nothing about. it's very good.

    • fawfull

      how did I get DOUBLE NINJA'D? T_T

  • Yay

And fail to Fawfull (ur not first)

  • Not gonna lie – first time I watched this, I teared up. :[

  • RushLight

I've heard this before and I love it, one of my favorite videos on YouTube (partly because Wind Waker is my fave game)!

  • Justin

This is pretty amazing… not only is it cool that he can play all of those instruments, but the timing had to be perfect for it to all come together and he did it.

  • Gerudude

This guy is absolutely amazing. See how he uses ordinary household equipement. I love it. So I have to say: Yes you can go to the next round.

    • Guest

All of that is ordinary household equipment? That's strange, I don't seem to have a pan flute lying around my house anywhere, oh well…I agree with you that he is amazing.

      • Retrospect

He didn't say that it was all ordinary household equipment. He was referring to the glasses of water and the cooking sheet with the spoon.

  • Shadowoflight

Very nice, but it was posted on zeldauniverse before, right?

  • Tabby

I saw this ages ago. I like it but it is oooolllddddd! That video was put up in 2008!

    • Shush! It's Christmas in July. ๐Ÿ˜›

      • Beh

The odd thing is I thought this had been posted before.

  • Muskiok

I envy the amount of spare time he has. Or wait, I guess he does this kind of thing for a job? I wish I could do that (I know that I could if I had that kind of time) ๐Ÿ™

curse you summer school and drum camp and band camp and summer reading and scholarships and college applications… I never get any time of my own to work on my music… *sigh*

Oh yeah, and he does a great job.

  • Chad

It was good but it reminded me of how I had almost beaten the wind temple for the third time and since molgera is my favorite boss on there I wanted to copy the game onto another file but instead I ended up copying over the file I didn't want to with my file which I had only beaten two dungeons. Oh well the song was good

  • That was one of the best renditions of Zelda music I've ever heard. Probably second to Mr. Koji Kondo (composer of all the Zelda tunes) and others such as ZREO. I hope great things come for this talented young artist.

  • Jin

You guys only discovered this guy today? Tsktsk! I've got his song on iTunes for over a year now XD

  • BlackYuri

It gave me goosebumps. This man is talented! Thanks for bringing it to our attention ZU. :3

  • Team mate joe

why is half the stuff this site updates a bunch of crap that noone cares about just like this one.

    • First off, what do you want them to update? If you want Skyward Sword news, then they're only gonna update once every week or so, if not less. If you're just a troll, get off this site. If you want info on how the site changes things, well too bad 'caus they're not gonna do that 3 times a day.

      • Chainoftermina

what do you mean, "if" he's a troll? this is the second comment he's posted in 2 days that basically says "Fuck ZU." I'm pretty sure this dumbass's goal is to have people get upset and yell at him because his sorry excuse for an existence somehow finds is amusing. just ignore him.

        • If you ignore him, then they just get worse. if you get mad at them, they just get worse. If you reason with them, they go away.

    • Take a look at the comments. Plenty of people care, and plenty of people enjoyed it. We post every bit of Zelda news that comes our way, but unfortunately, even with a new game on the horizon, there isn't new information to report every day. So, we try our best to post other Zelda-related things to give people something to enjoy while waiting for "real" news. :]

      • Chainoftermina

just ignore him, he WANTS you to get angry and retort back.

        • Plz don't feed the trolls =[

  • This is really cool! I've always wanted to do something like this, except I don't have a drum, or an available camera.

    • But you have all of the other instruments? Even an accordion? ๐Ÿ˜€

      • Actually, not an accordion. Other than that, yes.

  • this cover never fails to get a smile out of me ๐Ÿ™‚

  • fLo

omg he is amazing .. this was really good.. i just saw his other works and omg.. i think i'm in love XD

    • Back off, fLo. ๐Ÿ˜›

      • fLo

hahaha :X don't deny you're love for him too! ;D

  • Scrivs

WOW!!!!!!! Makes me wonder if he got all of this just from listening to the song!? IF SO THEN THAT'S RIDICULOUS

  • twilian

I heard it in the first episode of Chuggaaconroy's Wind Waker walkthrough. I've listened to it everyday ever since <3 It's such a breathtaking piece of music, truly amazing!
