In his first console adventure since Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards – that’s a whopping seven year absence – Nintendo decided to remix the entire Kirby formula. In fact, the game hardly looks like Kirby anymore. Well, not the Kirby you’ve come to know. The game appears to be entirely made of yarn, hence its title: Kirby’s Epic Yarn.

The game features a rather unique method of gameplay, where Kirby and all the other characters and enemies in the game are constructed of yarn. The yarn can even be threaded through the game’s world to bridge together platforms that may have been too far apart.

Although it’s not in 3.5D like it’s predecessor, Kirby’s Epic Yarn looks to be, well, pretty epic! Hit the jump for the official E3 trailer.

The last Kirby game was Kirby's Air Ride. Crystal Shards is older than 7 years.
