Have you ever wondered what it would be like to play as Link in Super Mario Bros? Well, the guys over at Exploding Rabbit have done just that. In their Super Mario Crossover, you can play as Mario, Link, Mega Man, Samus, Bill Rizer or Simon Belmont. Each character comes with their own music and special abilities related to their respective series.

As Link, you are able to slash with your sword and stun enemies with your boomerang. As Link gains power ups, he will change tunics (white for mushrooms and red for fire flowers). However even with the ability to shoot sword beams (thanks to the fire flower), Link will still stay small and not grow “super.”

Most of the music also correlates to a specific character’s series. For example when you are running low on time, the beeping hearts will start playing along with the sped up music. Dying sequences are also the same in relation to the characters.

Another great feature of this game is you can save your progress and play later. Along with that, you can change characters throughout the game. Each level has its own character select so you don’t have to stay with one character throughout your play. Characters also keep their power ups.

So if you have a little bit of time on your hands and want to put a new spin to an old classic, I recommend you play this fan creation.

that sounds cool, I'll go give it shot.

    wow.

that was the farthest I've ever gotten in that game without getting hurt once. that was the farthest I've ever gotten it that game period. and I did it with Link, not Mario. that really says something………

it says that I suck at mario games, and am much better at zelda games. a fact I was already aware of. regardless, THAT WAS AWESOME!!!

I saw this on digg a week ago or so. The most balanced character is probably Megaman. Link is good for strategic playing but you tend to be low on time when you play with him. Mario is, well, Mario. Billy R. just completely dominates everything, and Simon is decent but his jump is absolutely terrible. Samus is only good with a mushroom, otherwise, she's just a worse version of Billy. Also, this is probably my new favorite flash game of all time.

Oh my gosh… Why have I never thought of something like this? Dude, this is so original and it looks awesome! So, what am I doing here? I’m going to play it right now!

Also–who would be up for Mario in Hyrule? Shaw!
