Our friends at ChrisCrossMedia have created a video discussing which Zelda girl Link should be with. See if you agree with their choices!

They are also currently running a Zelda giveaway in which they are giving away several virtual console titles of your choice, so you should check that out too.

  • Teengamer

You know, it kind of all depends on the game.

For Wind Waker, Phantom Hourglass, and Spirit Tracks the answer is Tetra/Zelda. That's kind of a no-brainer as they've already started adventuring together by PH.

For Twilight Princess, Ilia would probably be the best choice. She was childhood friends with Link, which accounts for several memorable moments between the two. There wasn't any any chemistry with Zelda, plus she has to rule a kingdom whereas Link was a farmer. Midna goes along with the sages thing, and Link probably shouldn't go there.

Which leaves Ocarina. Probably the most controversial subject for Link's love life. I think the commenter in the video was spot on. Malon is an ordinary farm girl, perfect for Link. Zelda is *almost* there, but has too much on her hands. Link could get together with Malon in the MM timeline, which eventually leads to Twilight Princess. The timeline where Link disappears (Zelda sends him back to his childhood) goes to Wind Waker.

As for the 2D games, I'll leave that to everyone else. There's not ALWAYS a love interest in every game, but I can think of a few that die-hard fans want to pay attention to.

Ohhh, after seeing this, I totally agree with it, I don't care what the ZeldaxLink/RutoxLink/TetraxLink/MidnaxLink(lolew) fans say, Malon does seem like the best choice, and she totally has the hots for him, and.. damnit, I think I just became a fangirl, ugh, thanks alot D:

That's assuming, of course that TP Link is a descendant of the Hero of Time, and that the Hero of Time has to fall in love with someone. Myself, I see him as a bachelor for life. If the Hero of Time did fall in love, though, I admit it would probably be with Malon.

LALALALALALALA I CAN'T HEAR YOU LALALLALALALALALALA

Hehe, I'm just joking, calm down. but seriously, All you people seem to be forgetting that for Link himself, Oot doesn't ever really happen. He remembers it all, yeah, but He grows up into adult hood the right way, WITH all his memories. and what does he do the second he goes back in Time to live out his life the right way? WHO does he go see the INSTANT he realizes he can have a normal life? NOT Malon, but ZELDA! the ending of Ocarina of Time shows Link starting a new life with his friend Zelda. the ending scene should show enough.

and to all you people who keep referencing TP, did any of you ever stop to consider the fact that ILIA may be Malon's descendant? Farm girl, loves Epona, DAUGHTER OF THE FRICKEN MAYOR!! if LonLon Ranch ever developed into a village, who do you think would be the best candidate for person-in-charge? oh, gee I don't know, maybe the OWNER OF THE RANCH?!?!?!

OoT Link goes with Zelda-makes just as much sense as with Malon.

    • Teengamer

Very true, and you have a good point. Link does go back to live his childhood with Zelda, and he tells her what happened so that they may warn the king of Ganondorf. This leaves adult Zelda without Link, and the great flood occurs in that timeline.

BUT that isn't to say that Link forgets Malon! Even if he goes back to live out his childhood and be friends with Zelda couldn't mean that he completely forgot Malon and how she gave him Epona. After the events of Majora's Mask, I think he would go back to her and live with her family. This would make sense for their descendants to go into farming, and for Link to end up as a farmer in TP. I still see your point though, so maybe Ilia is a very distant cousin of his.

Even though OoT doesn't occur in his childhood timeline, I'm sure he and Zelda still pass it on as a Legend.

      • ChainofTermina

whoa whoa whoa, who said anything about completely forgetting Malon? of course they were still friends. I believe Link went back to meet all his friends from the adult timeline, and became friends with them agian (except maybe Ruto, eesh). I'm just saying that It does not make MORE sense for Link to be with Malon, It makes just as much sense for both Malon and Zelda.

and I still think Ilia is descended from Malon. it just fits more. but thank you for seeing my point.

        • Teengamer

Thanks for the clarification. I'll always be a Malon and Ilia fan myself, however. 😉 and if Ilia IS the descendant of Malon, I guess it doesn't necessarily mean that TP Link is the descendant of Ocarina Link. Either way I'm a fan of LinkXIlia. simple as that LoL

          • ChainofTermina

while I usually consider myself a Zelink shipper, even I can't deny the obviousness of LinkxIlia. the game has many blatant scenes that just scream "Link likes Ilia." so, in the regard of TP, I agree with you.

          • Teengamer

Definitely. Otherwise, Zelink all the way! 😀

        • mike

i agree with chan of termina and also eveyone in the legend of zelda forget about the events except the sages, zelda, navi, and the farmgirl malon

        • mike

in oot when you first meet malon and tell her your she says link that name seems fermilyer

    • ZeldaGurl_

Chain, I couldn't agree with you more. You hit the nail on the head, and took the words right out of my mouth. 😀

      • ChainofTermina

        Thank you, ZG.

    • femalegamelover

I totally agree with Zelda being a better mate for link than Malon.

    • mike

yes but zelda in Oot is a sage and sages cant get married.

  • TheKhaion

That gave me an idea…. Maybe they could make a new game when Link starts to serve the royal family as a guardian or something ? 8D
Okay, they nearly did it in ST >__>

  • Gerudude

    How about Nabooru,
It's clear she has the hots for Link, even when he was still a kid.
She promises to show him something beautiful if he helps her out remember.
This could'nt be anything less than SEX!
And then look at what she states when she became a sage.

For all I care Link banged her big time down there in the temple of time.
Nintendo just didn't want us to know since 90% of the players are minor age.

    • ZeldaGurl_

I don't know where you stand on your following of the Zelda series, but you need to watch it. I for one, COMPLETLY disagree with you, the way you present yourself as a pig and shallow person doesn't help get your point out any farther.

And by the way, Nabooru was GONE at the end of OoT. She's a sage, meant to protect and watch over Hyrule, just as Saria, Ruto, Impa, and the rest. If you're going to open that can of worms, than Saria is able to be brought back into the picture. Don't even go down that road, and watch what you say, it's already revulting enough. If that's all you think about from a game as beautiful and deep as Zelda, then you have no right to play it for what it truly is. And I'm sure it could be a WHOLE LOT MORE than sex, so get your hormones back under control and keep your pants on.

Think next time before you go saying something as disgusting and piggish as you did, many of us true Zelda fans find it offensive.

      • Gerudude

For the record. I am a huge zelda fan. In fact the upcoming new zelda title is the only thing keeping me from selling my wii.
        I was just kidding around.
I mean what does it matter who would be the possible girlfriend or mate for Link.
I'm sure the hotshots at nintendo don't care.
We all love this game for the puzzles, the dungeons, the cool swordplay and stuff.
That's why we buy it. That is what sells!
And that is all they care about.

        Grow up.

        • ZeldaGurl_

No, you know what, you need to get a better sense of humor. Don't care if you were kidding or serious, it wasn't funny. In the big scheme of things, I'm O.K. with whoever Nintendo has decided for Link, so long as we all know and have the facts to agree on, without all of this controversy.
Just make sure your comments next time aren't immature and offensive next time.

    • Nintenfan81

Dude, that was so bad I felt offended, and I'm a guy. If your as much of a fan as you say you are respect the game we all love and shut up.

  • Gerudude

I agree with ChainofTermina on what he said. The end of OoT was a beautiful idea, leaving the player hanging on what happened after the game ended. And even though, it did let the player have some freedom, it did give a sense of Symbolism and foreshadowing.

  • ZeldaGurl_

    Added on to that,
Think about it, the game ends showing Link and Zelda, looking eye to eye, and having what they could call "Deja Vu". The end symbolizes the journy of the Legend, and how it has always been. They start together, they end it together, and they find eachother again to repeat their paths. While Ganondorf may be gone in the second time around through OoT, and it may be known for them to live in an alternate Hyrule destiny, Link and Zelda still remain friends, and as some of us hope, later on partners. I do see the point of Malon for one way, but Zelda is a option to be taken seriously as well. Bottom line, Link and Zelda will always be something AND nothing at the same time. While there is something of them, their love may be also known to be publicly forbidden. I'm a big ZeldaxLink lover, and I wouldn't have it any other way, but sometimes we have to face reality. And one of those options is to see that maybe we're all wrong at the same time, but yet could never be more right. It's hard to explain, but just think about it, maybe we all have scales over our eyes and are all blind to the truth.

    • She didn't gave Link Epona, he won it from Ingo. So I could also ASSUME just like you do he bought Epona from Lon Lon Ranch.

After the events of Majora's mask, it's likely more suggesting he goes back to Zelda as he had this great flashback from her

Also the official manga clears a lot which love interest Nintendo wanted Link to have.

      Zelda.

      • Teengamer

I'm going to assume that this reply was for MY comment.

True, but Malon trusts Link to take care of her horse, even after Ingo is "humbled".

The manga doesn't count as it's not really that good (in my opinion). We play the games for the games, not JUST for the storylines. Still, Zelda games have great stories to follow.

Anyway, point= we could argue for hours whether Malon or Zelda is better. It's all a matter of opinion.

        • Well of course she trusts him, he just saved her and Lon Lon Ranch from corrupted Ingo. Trusting does not mean love.

The manga counts more than a fan opinion, because Eiji Aonuma and the Zelda staff were behind it. They are the ones creating the Zelda series.

I'm not arguing whose better, I'm arguing there are no facts for Malon that Link was interested in her. These are all assumptions from fans.

What we do know is that Link and Zelda did spent together in Hyrule for a few months. Even with the idea that Zelda trusted Link and that he owned a special place in her heart.

In Link's desperate times and with the Ocarina in his hand he thought of her which also saved him. Selecting the Ocarina it says it's filled with memories of Princess Zelda.

          • Teengamer

Perhaps, but that's not going to stop the millions of people who prefer Malon. 😉 Just try and stop them!

          • I never tried to stop them, personally I don't mind the pairing. What I do mind is that people claim their arguments as "Facts" while they are just assumptions. Overal the ZeldaxLink pairing has just more ingame facts.

          • Teengamer

            Whatevs. Thanks for the info.

    • argh sorry wrong person to reply to XD

  • Violet

When it comes to Twilight Princess, it's got to be the seemingly impossible relationship of Link and Midna, simply because Link is shown leaving Ordon at the end. Given that the whole game makes Ocarina of Time references, I think him leaving to potentially search for a way to reach Midna is a reference to Link searching for Navi.

Link and Zelda don't really have much of a connection in Twilight Princess.

As for Ocarina of Time… isn't Ilia meant to be a reference to Saria? Does that mean… oh dear.

  • ooccoowarrior

    Link and malon woooooooo!

  • ooccoowarrior

    Link and malon woooooooo!

  • SaveShino

I think that Link and Malon would be perfect. It would make so much sense that way, especially since he had grown in the same conditions as her. Link and Zelda just wouldn't make a good couple because as czstealth stated "Link never starts a game in royalty. Therefore, Link could relate to Malon more and could be able to settle down and continue his life as a rancher 😀

  • Petra

Not that I have anything against Zelda+Romance, but it's not the end of the world if you don't figure it out, ya' know what I'm sayin'? (Basically, ponder all you want, just don't have a heart attack.)

I think that Link would be better off with Zelda instead of Malon (not that i have anything against her) but as far as I'm concerned is that they keep the stories in line with the games they make.
