As if the Wii Motion Plus is not enough, Nintendo wants to upgrade the accelerometer inside of the Wii Remote controllers. It looks as if companies from all over have been trying to pawn off their latest creation to Nintendo, and it looks like they may have found one.

Inside a Wii Remote

The company that currently creates the chip for the Wii Remotes is STMicroelectronics, and it took a good amount of time to perfect the chip, and make it cheap enough to be used, at a whopping 3 USD each!

Now a company by the name of Kionix says they can provide an accelerometer that has increased motion sensitivity. For obvious reasons, Nintendo has said nothing on the issue yet, because if they did, most of use would be using obsolete hardware, and we as consumers would become angry.

Do I see Nintendo taking this company up on their offer? It is hard to say, I mean, wasn’t the Wii Motion Plus supposed to have 1:1 motion capabilities? Now you say you can make it even better? Interesting…

Since this has been leaked to the public, the chances of it happening are slim, but if Nintendo decided to use the new, more sensitive chip, it would probably be sold as a new chain of Wii controllers. They would probably be sold as specialty controllers, and they would have a new design that makes them stand out, etc.
